Re: gandalf

Re: gandalf
Just an FYI...
If you are going to ask someone if they are checking their PM its usually best done in a thread where they are posting, rather than creating a new thread with a rather ambiguous name. There are more Gandalfs around than just the one to which you refer, and more Gandalfs in literature (fantasy literature at that) about which people may think this thread is about. Anyway, just a public service announcement for those who step into this thread http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: gandalf
i have seen many times when someone will post a separate thread addressed to someone, to check their PM's in these forums....and as far as that goes, I have only seen one gandalf here in this forum....
so, i didn't think it would cause problems....but, then again, some people on this forum has issues with others for some reason... [ October 22, 2003, 19:04: Message edited by: cpbeller ] |
Re: gandalf
Well just to give this thread a purpose the question was about the files I have in http://www.techno-mage.com/~dominion so I will post that here for everyone. I have never done an explanation html, and no one has bit on the offer to host a dominions domain. I will now add this info to a readme file
BigFun.zip first effort. re-uses the nyempir.tga which I think came with the original dominion distrib. every province gets an extra commander with magic items and guards. BlindLuck.map BlindLuck.tga BlindLuck.yab wild insanity. just about everything was randomized. you need to download the tga and the map file. the yab file is the basic program used to randomize the map file if you want to re-run it FastStart.map FastStart.tga all of the races get a home province and 7 other provinces around the map. there WILL be a combat in those extra provinces on the first round. you must download the map and the tga GoAround.map GoAround.tga GoAround.zip one of the older efforts. download the map and the tga or the zip is both together. aaaa_map.txt a map file with a txt extension so that a browser will let you see it. You can grab it and modify it domdemo112.zip domdemo113win.exe dominions demo Versions that were hard to get for awhile because illwiner site was down forest.bas a basic program to generate forest names. it could have been expanded on but there was no way (then) to make sure that the name you were inserting automatically was going to be assigned to a forest. Still might be useful for anyone doing manual maps mapgen mapgen.txt a basic script to generate a map file so that each time you play its alittle different. the txt Version lets you view it with a browser mapit8 someone was interested in the settings I used with the DomMap program to generate my maps mapkit.zip sent by illwinter. it has a Dom2 map as an example of how things are changing with dom2. it includes a tga, a map, and a pdf of the mapedit docs maplarge part of the linux script I use to generate the maps in the maps directory. Its gotten better. ask if you are interested maps/ where the large/medium/small maps are randomly generated each day plains.bas same as forest.bas but for plains names. I had note for doing a swamp, ocean, desert Versions but without a way to properly assign them, and lack of interest, I never finished them [ October 22, 2003, 19:18: Message edited by: Gandalf Parker ] |

(only way i go, is if i get Banned....) |
Re: gandalf
Umm... people post Messages as new threads notifying others of PMs that have gone answered for days all the time on Shrapnel Intel forums... it is a well-established practice.
|
Re: gandalf
Okay guys layoff, not every thread has to be about Dominions, and Fryon is right this is a fairly normal practive on these Boards.

What is up with this paranoia complex? I'm not trying to run you off, just offering an FYI on typical message board ettiquite. Ok so maybe these Intel forums are a bit different? Whatever, I still find it strange to make new threads about PMs, especially with non-descriptive titles. A tittle like "Gandalf check your PM" would make more sense, but whatever. Anyway, I could really care less if you or anyone else stays or leaves, like my daddy always said, "there's plenty more where they came from" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif So chill out, ignore the posters you find annoying, its the best way to shut them up I find. So ignore me if I'm one of the ones you have a problem with, trust me I won't take it personally http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |
Re: gandalf
I hope every did scroll down and see that I added a purpose to this thread by answering the original question. As soon as I posted it and looked I saw tht it was buried under 4 or 5 Messages of the other chatter.

Re: gandalf
As Richard mentioned, it is pretty standard around here to make sure somebody knows a PM is waiting for them with a public post if the PM hasn't been responded to.
If anybody wants to do that, feel free. For those concerned about clutter, don't worry. As soon as the parties involved let me know to do so, I can delete the thread once its purpose is complete and the PM has been acknowledged. |

KILL KILL KILL http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Ooops forgot about Gandalfs attempt to pull it into some kind of meaning, sorry 'bout that G-man (I'd been waiting to use that one http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif ) |
Re: gandalf
If the admins want to kill this thread then no problem. I can pop that little bit into one of my threads so this one can die.

Re: gandalf
I think I'd just as soon leave it so folks can read about the policy, plus that'll spare you from having to repost the info. It isn't like we're getting cramped for server space quite yet! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
