DomII Library
I've laid the first stone of my new domII library. Some general info and a first complete (I hope) units DB for Pythium, plus a list of the new magic sites, most important changes on pretenders (+ new gods) etc, etc...
If you plan to do something similar for the other nations, please, let us join our forces ! http://www.freewebs.com/sunray_dom2/ |
Re: DomII Library
If you don't mind i will copy the helpfull hints and random events part to Dom X.
And yes, i plan on doing guides for every single one of the nations. [ October 30, 2003, 10:59: Message edited by: Nerfix ] |
Re: DomII Library
No problem Nerfix, copy all what you need. I hope that other players will help to make to best database possible...

I can do some unit tables, I'll start with Arco, and will send you the file. Let me a week or so... |
Re: DomII Library
I have put togther a map with all the units packed into one province.
I sent the file to Sunray. I'm sure he'll post it to the site so everyone can enjoy it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |

Re: DomII Library
If you are interested, I can make a units' database for one of the Nations. (Say, Abysia?) If Open Office is compatible with Excel that is. (I believe it is the case for most functions)

Re: DomII Library
I could probably do a unit database on some other nation. Machaka would be most likely.

Re: DomII Library
One thing to watch out for is that the stats you get when actually designing a Pretender can be different from what you see before starting.
For example the Moloch says it has Fire 2 and paths costing 50, but once you start you see it has Fire 3 and paths costing 70. |
Re: DomII Library
I put together a Machaka unit database. I'll email it to you, Sunray.

I'll put together the unit list for C'tis.

Starting at Fire 3 will save you a lot more points than a 20 point difference in path cost, if you want any significant level of Fire (6+) and aren't buying a lot of new paths (like no more than 2 - and who buys more than 2 new paths for something with a high new path cost?). |

Re: DomII Library
Thank you all for your Messages. Machaka is now available, thanks to LordArioch. Alex made a new scenario and Pocus found the tactical details of all forts. I made the file for Jotun (Iron Woods). And, yes, any contribution is welcome (I count on PDF for Arco, Alneyan for Abysia and Josh_F for Ctis) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif . TIA guys.

Re: DomII Library
Humer suggested -then made- several changes to the pretender file. Alneyan sent a new DB for Abysia (only Ulm is missing now). And I made some corrections to my Jotun DB...

Re: DomII Library
Also I made some corrections to the Unit View scenario, which has been updated on Sunray's site.
If anyone finds any other errors, please let me know. I'll fix them ASAP. |
Re: DomII Library
Some more stuff. I changed the Jotun list, using abbreviations for all the special abilities. Added a new Ulm DB, using abbreviations too. Added a FAQ list, well, something technical. Improved the magic sites list, using mostly the dom1 list (but I added some of the new sites as well). If you find any mistake, please let me know ...

>You have a 'strings' file from the game? (all the text) or would you like me to send it
>to you? It lets you snip out all of the unit names, site names, descriptions, etc I've opened the main exe file with notepad, to find/copy the name of all magic sites. If you've something more practical, yes, I'm very interested. philippe_sacre@hotmail What is a strings file exactly ? TIA. |
Re: DomII Library
Strings is a command on linux. It will create an output file of everything it THINKS is a word. You do get long lines of DEFG and such but if it didnt treat that as a word then you wouldnt get names and such either.
Anyway the result is a big text file without all the binary stuff to work around. You still have to cut-n-paste the stuff you want into another file but its often alittle more workable than looking at the raw exe. Takes it from 2449895 (exe) to 771844 (strings.txt) |
Re: DomII Library
Umh, I guess someone else has noticed already, but
http://www.freewebs.com/sunray_dom2 is frozen due to exceeded bandwith. Any news on this problem? (I mean the content of the files is there in Google's Cache (search for dom2spell.xls and click html-Version), but html is not what I was looking for. I'd really like to filter all spells according to my mages path's without trying the game or scanning through the manual...) |
