Is there any way I can add my own music?

I'd like to replace the default music with some classical music of my own. I see the file extensions end with .sw ...

Is there a way I can swap out some of the music?

Re: Is there any way I can add my own music?

You could turn off the music and start up winamp in the background.

Re: Is there any way I can add my own music?

.sw is the 22kHz signed word format of sox:
http://sox.sourceforge.net/

If you feel like doing some music conVersion of your own.

Re: Is there any way I can add my own music?

I don't suppose you could provide an appropriate SOX command line to convert the Falso Cantigas de Santa Maria in the game to .wav? I also presume they're in the three falsoXX.sw files ...

I'd like to be able to listen to this cantiga using WinAmp rather than in the game itself. TIA.

Re: Is there any way I can add my own music?

So for the original question, if he wanted his own coice of music to play...
he would need to convert a wav or something to a sox file (.sw) and name it the same as the three falso files in the rawsound directory?
There is no in-game option to play other files.

Would it be possible to add different music to each nation? It would be cool to create different themes.

Yep, looks like you can do pretty much anything you want with the sound. Here's a zip file containing all 3 "falso" tracks converted to .wav format (~35 megs):

You really didn't have to save space by speeding up the song.

I'll be glad to download normal Versions of the music and either host or send you MP3s.

Although the chipmunk-style voice is funny.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Hehe. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif I was wondering about that happening, but since the first thing I do when I install a new game is turn off the music, I had no idea what it was supposed to sound like. Also, I didn't download and install sox, I just used CoolEdit, which doesn't really recognize sox files. Sorry for the wasted big download.

EDIT
All fixed, you can grab whichever one(s) you like here:
http://www.techno-mage.com/~targa/falso11.wav
http://www.techno-mage.com/~targa/falso6.wav
http://www.techno-mage.com/~targa/falso4.wav

Should sound correct now.

EDIT 2
Grab them soon, as I will eventually be deleting them. GP was nice enough to offer me space for my junk on his machine and I have no intention of abusing that.

I can't even figure out where or how to install sox.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Thanks Targa!

However, these sound just like the ones I converted myself with sox. I thought I'd done something wrong. The problem I'm having is that none of these 3 files appears to contain the voice track with the Cantiga de Santa Maria that's sung as background music in the game.

JK basically told me to read the manual (which I had already done) and didn't answer my real question as to which file contains the voice track. If it is, indeed, one of the 3 falsoXX.sw files, then the conVersion is stripping the voice out. But I don't think that's the case since even the instrumental part doesn't sound even close to the same as that song's track in the game.

Re: Is there any way I can add my own music?

I have a feeling it's one of the ".smp" files in the main Dom2 dir. Sox will convert those also, looks like.

Yeah. I can't even convert them anyway. I looked around a bit but can't find the file with Cantiga de Santa Maria. Sorry.

Look for the largest files in the rawsounds directory and you shall find em.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Falso 6 - Santa Maria has a voice track. This time Targa SLOWED it down. The voice comes in after a while. It sounds like some zombie moaning a song or something. It's just as funny as the chipmunk voice.

Re: Is there any way I can add my own music?

I didn't do it, sox did. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Ya, Arryn, I think I got it figured. Make a text file and put in it:

sox -c 2.0 falso6.sw falso6.wav

Rename the .txt extension to .bat and double-click it (keep the text file open in notepad or whatever). Play the resulting falso6.wav. Sounds too fast? Lower the -c #.

1.0 is the default, which, as Argithoth pointed out, makes it too slow. So somewhere in there you should find the correct value. ( -c sets "speed").

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">2.9 is still too slow, and any use of numbers 3.0 or higher creates a corrupt file that WinAmp cannot read. My guess is that I need a number in the range of 3.5-4.0. Grrr. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif
