Request
Just like to first thank Targa for a wonderful map and Gandalf for his work (get the *** kissing over with first =).
I dont know if this is overstepping my boundaries, but I would kill for Gandalf to make Targa's map randomized. It just looks like it has such great potential with a little randomization thrown in. So that is my request, pure and simple. Thx again The_Maxx (addicted to randomization.map) |
Re: Request
You're welcome. As for randomization, GP's already asked about doing it with CoT, so I see no reason why he wouldn't do so with Karan. I doubt he'll request that you kill anyone though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Request
Heehee. Thanks for the nice words.
Have you played the randomization of the Miirunst map? http://www.techno-mage.com/~dominion.../MiirunstX.map When Tiltowait made it for me t0 randomize I told him I thought it was way too nice a map for that. It deserved to stand alone. But he still wanted it so I made one. It re-rolls every day. As for Targa's map, its a great map. But I dont think it will work well for randomizing. Too many choke-points. The game I just played on it, I started in the province with the skull mountain. There was one land province and one water province as neighbors. If a randomization put 10 monoliths in one and 10 sphinxs in the other it would have been a LONG game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I could write a weaker randomzier for it but I think the map is too good for it. You want more randoms? Different ones? I could do one with one of the random-rolled map images. |

Re: Request
What? no request for killing anyone? All the better I suppose (sigh).
I agree with Gandalf that your map (Targa) is excellent, however, i must protest that a randomization of it would hamper the quality of it. I believe it can only get better =). So without further aduueeee, I still stand by my request. If a weaker Version of the randomization must be put in place to allow the map to shine even more brightly!...then so be it! The_Maxx (*Seriously* addicted to randomization.map). -@ Gandalf, yes the milrunst, ive played it to death along with the poke-eye map (still my favorite btw). @ everyone else, if you havent tried the random maps, you are all missing out, bwah bwah haha. Gandalf, did you ever make a randomizer that would spread around specific special sites? |

Nonetheless, I start up a new game, and end up on that crappy island anyway. Doublechecking, I find I did, in fact, flag it nostart. Must not be working right. |

Re: Request
My mistake. I misread and thought you were using #nostart (and meant that that wasn't working). Bleah.
Anyways....as I re-read (correctly this time) your post, it should have worked. When I made Clash of the Titans map, I used the Dom2 map editor and flagged all provinces as nostart except the two starting spots. I've played numerous times on that map and always start in one of those two provinces, so it appears to be working. Are you perhaps playing the scenario, and it has commands that override the nostart indicated in the .map file? (512 is the value that the map editor adds to a province for it to be designated as nostart) |

So to avoid this, I flagged all of the offending "really godawful" start provinces nostart in the map editor....but upon starting the game, I found that every so often, I'd spawn on one of those invalid locations anyway. |
Re: Request
I can almost feel the power of randomization coming soon to a dominions map near you.
Im not giving up until someone tells me to shut it (it must be rude and blunt as well). The_Maxx (you guessed it, still addicted to randomized.map) |

You were talking out loud again.
