So i made a new world map

Now how do i get it to illwinter? Compressed it's 20MB so email isn't really an option.

Here's a preview new world map

Re: So i made a new world map

Posting an URL will often do it. Sending it to info@ over at the illwinter.com site will also take care of it if they like it.
Doing both, sending an email with an URL address of where they can pick up the file is actually the internet-friendliest method of all. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Good question. Send the guys at IW an email with the question. Or perhaps you can upload it to Shrapnel (ask them) and they can get it to IW.

I can host it, but I don't have a publically-accessible ftp server for you to upload it to me. And it might take me a bit of time to figure out how to grant you specific access rights to the domain I'm borrowing. I'll look into it.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">The map is more or less a copy of the existing world map. So the ammount of provinces (and water provinces) is the same give or take one. Cutting them would produce new provinces and that would screw up the .map file and i'm not going to do that anytime soon.

Btw how does the random map generator figure out the neighbouring provinces? Maybe i could utilize that algorithm.

You may want to look at ReadyHosting.com if you want a cheaper hosting alternative with much more available space (~500mb). (They host the BL23c.com domain I'm borrowing.) If you decide you want to sign up with them, please let me know in advance so that my BF can get the referral benefit that I think they offer to existing clients.

Download winrar trial. http://www.rarlab.com/

Install program. Right click the file. Select "add to archive..". Select "Split to volumes, bytes." Type in the max size your e-mail service allows for transfer. Send archive in pieces to Illwinter (might not have winrar though), Gandalf or Arryn.

Ah well, Arryn here it comes.

Re: So i made a new world map

I didnt catch that it was an email size problem. I have had people send me zips and such in pieces for that reason. Then I make it a whole file and give a download link for them to use.

Or if its a need for an ftp account I can do that also

Just as well. It's probably best if you wait and see if you can u/l to Gandalf so I can grab it from him, or post a temp URL that I can grab it from. It'll be easier than you having to break the file up and then spend however long it takes to email all the pieces ...

BTW, Torvak, that URL in your sig, "http://www.bl23c.com/files.htm" is no longer valid. I restructured the site's directories yesterday while you weren't looking. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

The correct URL is "http://www.bl23c.com/arryn/files.htm".

However, there appears to be a problem. Internally, the archive says the compressed size is 21.35mb, but the d/l size from Gandalf was only 12.5mb. Please check to make sure the file wasn't truncated.

I don't think the wrong mode would have truncated the file like that. Well, possibly if it hit the right character combo. But it's likelier to be something else. 12.498mb strikes me as a suspiciously roundish number.
