Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Ah, the first turn! Always so exciting!!
|
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Actually, I get a weird rush from watching which nations jump into a first-turn Prophet. Those first proclamations as Turn Two gets under way have a certain "It's on!" quality to them.

waiting on Ulm.
so, who's who? Playing the ever fun-loving Jots. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Playing the Squidies(R'lyeh) as per usual... maybe I should branch out a little... hmmmm.
But aywayz, thank goodness nobody picked Atlantis, that would have been a little *cozy* on Inland... |
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
I'm giving Abysia a try. My Pretender choice is a bit, erm, unconventional, I think. We'll see if it pans out. ;-)
|
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
I'm playing ermor http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif First time using them in MP. Does anyone know who Ulm is? He's going to miss the first turn in about 10 min. Any way for someone to sub him?
|
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
I think Ulm might just have gotten in under the gun, I saw that he was connected when I checked the status and saw that it was just about to host.
Turn 2 The plot thickens. No Order bug for me! Woot! Everything is proceeding according to plan*. Muhahahahaha... *Meaning: I didn't forget to research the correct school of magic, or forget to hire anybody. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
nah, that was just sergex seeing if he could connect as ulm
If ulm doesn't show he'll do his move for him, and then bot him. 8 real players is as good for this map as 9 anyways. sergex and myself have been hanging out on irc gamesurge.net #dominions [ April 01, 2004, 17:35: Message edited by: archaeolept ] |

I'm in, playing the Unexpected.

Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Waiting on Caelum and Ulm. If Ulm doesn't show up soon after Caelum takes the turn, I'll turn Ulm into a bot http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
|
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Ok, Caelum has gone and Ulm is M.I.A. so he's going to become computer controlled! Let's get a few turns in tonight if we can http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
|
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Ulm has been botted.
eight is a good number of players, though, perhaps surprisingly, there's room enough for only one... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |

I was away from my computer, but now I'm ready for some hardcore DOM2 action... let's roll.

Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Ok Turn #4 is ready...
Looking at the graphs(which we apparently have enabled), it looks like a few of our competitors went for conquests on turn 3... pretty reasonable, not the way I'd go, but reasonable to be sure... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Let's do some turns. |
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
new turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif The pace is picking up now that Ulm is a bot http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

TURN 5
Now we're rollin'... |

As one of said conquistadors, I'll just say that it largely depends on one's neighbors. I saw a weak force, I saw decent income and resources which my capital needs, and I had an idling warlord with a more-than-capable force. Why wouldn't I take the province at that point? |
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
I don't think it's possible to disable graphs in Mosehansen games, unhappily.
Attacking on turn 3 is, of course, pretty easy if you picked up mercs on turn one or two. Hmm, now we're just waiting on sergex... |

In fairness, most of the surrounding territories looked pretty tough for starters. Had there not been one that was particularly weak, I'd likely have waited another few turns to marshall forces.
I'm really tired of bad omens, though. Two MP games in a row, I've started off with a bad omen event in my capital (despite scales stacked against it) within the first three turns. Clearly, the Dominions gods frown upon me. Maybe because I insist on playing the eeeee-vil races. |

Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Uhm, why does everybody keep picking on me? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
First Marignon and now Caelum with suprise attacks... I'm not used to being such a target for unchecked aggression! Did one of my priests forget to send out the Christmas cards this year? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |

Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Yeah, everybody upgrade to 2.11 and lets get this show on the road.
|
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
The game is back!! The original players for Ulm and Marignon have quit the game so they are OPEN. The game is still early so you still have a chance of winning with those 2 nations. AI has been controlling Ulm the whole game and is doing quite well, but Marignon wasn't doing so hot and he quit around turn 25 or so.

The only "open" I can think of in regards to a slot gone AI is "open season". Was this changed in a patch?

Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
caelum and mictlan don't seem to have figured out that we're back, yet.
/me crosses fingers |
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Well when I rejoined the game after it moved to the new page those 2 Ai controlled nations were listed as the possible nations I could play as.
|
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
ok, caelum may be MIA. anyone have any clue who he is?
so far he's only had one stale turn (as have I, since I messed up Last turn), but only 5 hrs left till the next hosting. |
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
caelium has missed 3 turns now and hasn't posted about his intentions. If he doesn't post in 30 minutes I'm going to go in and make him Computer AI #3. I'm going to assume that he's given up on the game.
edit- Caelium is now computer Ai controlled. That makes 3 nations controlled by AI: Marignon, Ulm and Caelium. In the future, if anyone is going to quit please post here first! [ April 10, 2004, 03:33: Message edited by: sergex ] |

Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
Sorry buddy. I just get a bit offended when somebody parks their Pretender next door to my fort with absolutely no troops alongside him. It's sort of a "Come and get me" deal. Besides, I need the resources those provinces will give. I've already sent you a nice message saying to back off and render unto Abysia... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
But hey, if you want to tangle, you're welcome to bring it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |

I honestly think Cainehill should have stayed... his position was stronger than he realized, and we probably could have worked out a peace, since I honestly wasn't that interested in attacking him... but c'est la vie. |
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
*sigh* This is the Last time I play on a qh game that's less than 24 hours. I've had two stale turns happen as a result of sending in my turn too early, going out and having a good night, sleeping and then waking up to find that I've missed my turn by an hour. Both in this game. And this time I'm under siege. Bleah.
However, that ends my griping on this topic. Is there a reason that we're doing a 14 hour quickhost as opposed to 24? |
Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
too early? I haven't seen that.
I had a stale turn a little while ago, but I think that was just my fault. the 14hrs keeps a little pressure on http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif edit: are you r'lyeh in sweetback? [ April 11, 2004, 20:15: Message edited by: archaeolept ] |

Re: Big Game - Mosehansen:2311
You know, for being my second MP game and first with a land race, this is offering up ALL sorts of good learning. It's becoming clear to me that PD, even just a little, is a huge investment to make, esp. when preventing puny little scouts from taking over gigantic income provinces. Forgetting it = no good.
*sigh* Now to very slowly dig myself out of the mess I've made. |
