It only works on commanders that the succubus can fly back with (not too heavy) and only on males. Thats besides the magic save which I believe kicks in also. So like many things in this game, its useful but something you have to plan around its use alittle bit.

I think there is a morale save and a mr save. If the sucubus was too effective people would use armies of them which would be annoying.

Probably. It's not a weapon I've used often, 'tho, so I don't remember whether it preserves commander status. If it doesn't, and the resulting unit is non-stealthy, I suppose he'd probably start a fight and rout unless the province had no defenders including zero province defense.

If it does not preserve commander's status than perhaps it would make sense to use such funny tactic with your succubus in the provinces that borders yours, so if the victim of you S&M games would have to rout, at least he would end up naked and bruised, but at least in your province. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I have been trying to seduce for a long time from Man and almost always fail. I end up killing puny commanders and priests.

I did it once and got a Holy 2 priest.

Is there something to increase chance of seduction?

Is there a wya to teleport seduced commander somewhere other than capital? My capital is far away from the action.

I tried the tartarian chains assassination before ( I used the flying demonbred assassin hero from abyssia not a succubus though) and if I remember correctly, if the charm works the commander attacks his own province that turn.

I noticed some unusual results them in the arena though - if you enslave the returning arena champion he retains the trident and your champion gets no experience. (Although the reigning champ does attack the province he came from that turn as well, which was nice, I thought he was going to disappear)

Checked, it seems to be an 'Enslave Mind' attack (same graphic as for enslave mind, master enslave) and with identical results -- loss of commander status and name.

Hm, unsure; I do know that there's space in the data structures for units to retain magic levels (see Tartarians, Vastnesses for instance, which all have magic even though you get them as units). I haven't enslaved a mage recently 'tho.

Tartarian Chains (the artifact, not the native weapon of the Tartarian Spirit, which is a different one) has the additional effect of Enslave Mind on hit.

In an MP game I'm playing I just ended up getting The Tartarian Chains after a battle. The description states that the wielder will be attacked by "guards of the Underworld".

Could always put 'em on a scout, that way you won't keep it long and will get to see what guards 'em. (Personally, I haven't bumped heads with them, that I recall.)

Whoa. That's a bit, uh, non-thematic.

As for the Ashen Angel, IIRC it might be the same monster sent by the Manifestation spell, so that would be a somewhat safer way to check it out. Somewhat, 'coz Manifestation can backfire...

Yes, it's the same one. Those things are nasty, think about an undead Angel of the Host/Arch Angel with a bad attitude. I don't remember if they were armed with Bane Blade, Wraith Sword or Dark Fire Sword (one of those anyway), but it usually makes little difference from a non-SC pov...

Best I've seduced was I think probably a seraph. As Mictlan, it was a great addition.

However my succubi have failed to seduce and then assassinated some great characters, such as the Pythian Prophet Grand Thaumaturg (or whatever) type who was the one who kept casting Wrath of God global spells.

Faerie Queen could be very tough to hit on the other hand, so as an anti-SC SC it might do quite well, and magebane is a decent tool for that!

Jumping in late:
I find succubus too limiting. Must be male, must be human sized or less, and must be weak in magic resistance. Thats a pretty tight list. Basically she will remove commanders from independent provinces that say things like "militia, slingers". Maybe.

I feel it would be thematic if succubus were the bain of all mages. Keep the other restrictions but kill the MR problem
