How would I go about joining this game? I've gone to the website, and can view the game, but didn't see any obvious way to join.

I joined as Ulm, but I don't know how to "register" as playing the game on mosehansen (I registered as a player, but while it says one could see the games they're in, I don't see how that's possible).

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Once you have the address (dom2.mosehansen.dk) and the port number from the page, just start Dominions II, go to Network->Connect to a Dominions server. Then just put in the info.

It will bring you to a page that shows you the races currently in the game... click on one of the OPEN slots. This will upload your pretender to the server. So you'll have to create one, before you can snag a spot.

I'd consider joining with renaming enabled, now that it can be. Can this option now be turned on before the game starts? Otherwise, trying to keep all the bazillion people with identical names straight is too much of a chore.

I've problems to connecting to the game ... but I can connect to other games on Mosehansen.

There's a problem in the game?

Addenda after the above post:

On the other paw, and worse - the Mosehansen site indicates that _someone_ took my turn. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

Should we just start another game?
All the nations-second try?

Are they are any ports I need to open on my router? I had no problem uploading my pretender design earlier.

Well let me know what is up, cant connect and my races turn has been played by someone else, must have forgotten the password so I am for restart.

I guess I should add i am on another game on that server and have no problems.

yeah, zap, why not just delete the old one and get a new underway in time for this weekend.

maybe w/ a name more recognizably distinct from the other "all the nations" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I'll call pythium again

This weekend is Easter!!!

I doubt to be avaiable...

Re: All The Nations (new game)

OK, this isn't working. As suggested, I'll abandon this game and start again, with the name "Crowded_Land". There's 15 games on the server, though, so I hope there's room. Also, there appears to be no way to delete the old the game ("Stop the game" still doesn't work).

If the game gets created, I'll start a new thread under the new name.

Edit: Nope, there's a 15 game limit. We have to wait until All_The_Nations gets fixed, or something gets deleted. That means getting Mose's attention, I think.

Re: All The Nations (new game)

See if you can't Mose to enable renaming as well, now that a command line switch exists to enable it trivially: --renaming.

May as well make it default: There's no sane reason why anyone would wish to disable it in favor of the existing repeating names loop.

Re: All The Nations (new game)

The game has started responding again. I still have no idea what happened. 24 hours to get your orders in, everyone !!

EDIT: BTW, the report saying some people have taken their turns was spurious. No-one has played except me, at the time of writing.

Hmm, still 8 players outstanding. I fear that during the delay getting started, some folks have wandered off. In the event that more than a couple of nations stale the first turn, what should we do ?

Reply here with the maximum number of stales you would tolerate before voting for a restart. For me, it's 2.

Game's responding, but ... Vanheim is demanding a password, which I haven't been using / setting. Guess there was a reason it said Vanheim had taken its turn. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">As one of the stale turn players, I'd vote happily for a restart whenever - I can't take my turns, because (near as I can tell) someone uploaded a pretender over the top of mine, with a password.

Re: All The Nations (new game)

Well I just took my turn and it's still Turn 1 with 9 hours to go. Nobody has gotten a stale turn as far as I can see.

I was surprised to see that the game got started somehow, and I assume the other 6 people who haven't gone yet aren't aware yet.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">That is correct, but in 9 hours time there will be at least one nation (Vanheim) not in. I want to know from the players if they think that's enough to warrant a restart. If not, how many dropouts on turn 1 does warrant a restart? Cainehill is the only person to have answered my question.

And on the subject of Cainehill/Vanheim, will the person who gazumped his position come out with your hands up!! I won't shoot, I just need the password, so the position can be offered to its rightful owner or converted to AI.

sergex April 13th, 2004 06:55 AM

Re: All The Nations (new game)

If the people who "drop" would be turned to AI I'd be willing to play with up to 6 drops myself.

Re: All The Nations (new game)

geh, i'd rather start a new one than have to bot a bunch right off the start.

edit: well, actually, 17 is a bit unreasonable for a game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

might be something to be said for a bunch of bottings.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">But that's not possible if they've set passwords (no master password on the mosehansen server). If there's even one dropout with a password set (which there is - Vanheim) then the quickhost setting is defeated.

The mood seems to favour a restart. I'll give it another couple of hours for more feedback and then restart under the name "Crowded_Land" unless there's a deluge of supporters for continuation.

Oh if Mose can't make them bots then just start over if nobody objects.

yeah, cancel it then if vanheim doesn't show by the QH time, due to the start being f-ed up, and start a new game and a new thread.

Zapmeister April 13th, 2004 08:24 AM

Re: All The Nations (new game)

OK, All_The_Nations has been cancelled. There is now a new game with the same parameters open for pretenders. Go to the mosehansen server at www.mosehansen.dk for details. Its name is Crowded_Land and I'll start a new thread for it under that name.
