Reinstalling SEIV
Hey folks,
I figured I'd ask here, before bothering Shrapnel's CS folks with my saved receipt page (not the receipt itself, on no, that would be to easy, just the java-script of the page). I've got the game installed and things were functioning well, as I've added and deleted various of the mods from this site. Recently, however, I've noticed quite a few range check and access errors. No problem, I thought to myself, I'll just reload the game, and then actually pay attention to my mangling, as my gaming progresses. It was at this point that I realized I couldn't find my cd case. I'm sure it's here somewhere, but the comp room has to be seen to be believed. Let me just say, that before donning the hiking gear, loading up on the heavy wpns, and delving into some of the less visited corners of the room, I thought it prudent to check with the accumulated exp. here. At any rate, is there any way to pull the serial number off my currently loaded game? (Let the derision now commence.) [This message has been edited by GoatFoot (edited 18 February 2001).] |
Re: Reinstalling SEIV
Not exactly a guru hear, but I couldn't find any reference to a serial number in any of the .log files. guess it is hidden?

Re: Reinstalling SEIV
Errr, I dont think there WAS a CD case. At least not one that I remember. IIRC, it came in a paper sleeve that was tucked into the rule book. Maybe I'm just mixing it up with Combat Mission, but I *think* thats the way it came.

Re: Reinstalling SEIV
What serial number? I got a manual and a paper cd sleeve with the CD.
There was no serial number and I can't remember being asked for one on installation. You sure you're talking about SE4? SE3 required a registration number. |

Re: Reinstalling SEIV
This smells like a previous post "don't send seIV.exe,...."
but just on the of chance that someone could forget that there never was a serial number in 3 months,... previous Posts tell you what to do with range check errors and how to solve them. (log on as the computer oppopnent and play their turn for them, and don't forget to get latest patch) |
Re: Reinstalling SEIV
No Serial #? I thought there was a little slip of paper, or something, cool. I should be fine then.
btw, Many answers to questions posted here start with "previous Posts..."; Has anyone started a FAQ yet? |
Re: Reinstalling SEIV
I don't recall having a range check error during game play recently, only access violations. At start, during game initialization - placing players, I often get range check or access violation errors. I'm playing with Mod Pack 1.50, 250 planets, and the extended planet name list from Emp Zodd (also countless other personal edits and undoes).

Re: Reinstalling SEIV
Look Around And You See No Serial # or whatever protection was included in this All Times Greatest Sim Game. Perhaps only if YOU Have Not Got The Original CD!
