Stacking

Is there any published list of what can/cannot stack? I hear various Messages about what can/cannot. For example: if I stack 8 mining factories do I get 8x performance?

Re: Stacking

For each mining facility, you get X resources a turn. So if you built 8 of them, it would be X+X+X+X+X+X+X+X or 8*X. So in a way yeah it is.

Re: Stacking

In general, the only facilities that do NOT (or, at least, aren't supposed to) stack are the various "bonus" facilities; i.e, robotoid factories, time shrines, computer complexes, etc. Generally, if it doesn't stack, the description will say something like "Only one of these facilities is effective per planet". (Or only one effective per system, for the system-wide bonus facilities).

Re: Stacking

If what you say is correct, then a time shrine and a robotic factory should work together. A time shrine is system wide and the robotic factory is planet based.
?????

Re: Stacking

I think he was referring to the system robotics facility(or whatever it's called). It gets to be a pain typing all that out, so quite often I find myself guilty of shortening it as well.

A time shrine should and does stack with a planetary robotoid facility because the time shrine affects the system and the robotoid facility affects the planet.

Anyone else starting to hate typing these names out? http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

Nahh.. I don't mind at all typing out TS, SRF, MS, etc. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Stacking

I was kinda referring to both system & planetary facilities; but y'all are right, I should have specified that system facilities don't stack with other system facilities and planetary facilities don't stack with other planetary facilities (in most cases - I think some of the value enhancers DO stack, but that could have been a bug; anyone with a better memory want to respond?)

Oh, and since I haven't used the Religious trait myself (yet), I forget that the Time Shrine is a system-wide facility.

Re: Stacking

value enhancing facilities are supposed to stack by design - the q&a on the malafador site even makes specific mention of this.

So, I can build a System Robotiod Factory on each of my planets in the system and get 10x system bonus?

No, we're referring to the "Conditions Improvement Plant" and "Value Improvement Plant" facilities. The System Robotoid Factory is a production bonus facility, not a value improvement facility. Sorry for the confusion...

Re: Stacking

Really? So if you build more than one 'Value Improvement Plant', you get a +3 then +6 then +9% bonus (respectively for the highest tech 'VIP').

I think I heard something about it before, but never actually tested it. . . :-p

I haven't tested this personally, but I've also read that some of the people in the TwinGalaxies contest have used this feature, so I'm willing to believe that it works.

Re: Stacking

It is definitely possible to stack multiple Value Improvement Plants. Also, RingWorlds start out at 150% minerals, 150% organics and 150% radioactives. But that isn't the max! You can build VIP's on RW's and further improve them to 250%,250%,250%.

Drake posted his turn 150 save game. ALL of his ringworlds had been improved to 250,250,250.

System bonus stacking is off limits in our contest but because of a bug you can still make it work in other games (you probably should talk to your opponents in PBeM games before doing it to avoid hurt feelings over using a cheat though). In single-player games the way to use the bug where you get system-wide bonus effects to stack is to build them on different worlds. This won't work after the next patch so enjoy it while you can.

Re: Stacking

Can you stack a robotoid factory(planet) and also have a mineral scanner facility on a planet and get both benefits.

Robotoid give 30% mineral production increase (planet)

Mineral Scanner gives 30% mineral production increase (planet)

Thanks
