MP Game - Cradle/Snurgle

Cradle of Dominion map is available from Illwinter's site. You'll need to download it if you don't have it already.

We'll be playing with Zen's modifications.

No house rules, but some provisos:

1. Only 1 water nation permitted (per Zen's suggestion). First water nation called will result in the other one being closed.

2. Game will be on 24 hour quickhost; please don't join if you can't keep up with that pace.

3. Victory will be 67% province victory. That's 148 out of 221.

4. Graphs off, renaming on, magic sites 55, independent strength 7. Other settings standard, unless I've forgotten something.

5. I've hosted one game successfully to completion on my machine, but the wireless router that I use craps out about once a week for reasons I am unable to figure. I generally catch this and will restart the server so no one stales, but tolerance of an odd stale turn or two is a preferred qualification for players.

7. I am located in the Eastern U.S. time zone. If we are still playing come U.S. Labor Day (first Monday in September), and my travel plans dictate, I may switch to quickhost only while I'm out of town. Again, tolerance of this sort of thing is a plus. I will try to similarly accomodate any of the other players' travel plans as well.

8. Claim your nation by posting in this thread. Game will start 24 hours after we hit 8 players, but we'll take up to 10 if they sign in before then.

I'll circulate the ip and port no. via PM on these forums.

I will be playing Marignon.

Okay, we have the requisite number, so the game will be starting at, oh, let's see...

24 hours from the 8th player's post would be early Wednesday morning (1:45 a.m.).

I need to fire up the server, though, and circulate the address and port to everyone. I'll do that tonight, about 7:30 p.m. Eastern U.S., and start the game 24 hours after that.

I'll take Pythium.

As for the default settings - may I suggest changing HOF to 15 (if it wasn't done already), since there will be plenty of players, and if this is ok with Zombie and other players.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I don't think it s good idea. Strange thing have been known to happen on norfleet's kludgemush, such as unique and lethal bugs that strike just when the server's owner is losing his tournament game for example, et cetera... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Without going farther into it, I would say that Mose's server is much better option in my opinion, even with scoregraphs.

FYI our Ugania game was just fininshed (it is currently "stoped"), so there should still be an available spot. And btw, if scoregraph bother people too much, Zombie or somebody else could send email to Mose and ask him to just turn it off for our game manualy. AFAICT Mose has done it before. Personally I prefer to play without graphs as well, but it doen't matter too much for me. IMHO to have reliable server that you can trust is much more importent. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Of course if Zombie will be able to nail the current problem, playing on his server is perfectly fine with me as well.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Lies. What would you know, anyway? I was clearly winning. And moving to a different server certainly didn't change anything. Dom2 simply has weird bugs in it, which occur all the same on Mose's server.

No joy. Might be your router as well as your firewall - I know I had to tweak both in order to host. (Setting the PC in the router's DMZ, so it let everything through, and then telling the software firewall to allow that port, and the dom2.exe to communicate via it.)

Edit : The router / firewall might filter that port, given that 3 trojans are known to access 7777 for 'cbt'.

Yes, as Cainehill said seting router to DMZ could do the trick Zombie, if you think that would be an acceptable solution for you. I know it worked for me when I was playing EU2 in MP and had a lot of troubles with hardware and software firewalls.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">At the time, it was certainly tense, but as it turns out, wraith sword or no, Battle Vestals don't hold up to fireproof SC GKs. More importantly, this isn't the first time that sort of thing has occurred: Random stales are a known and reported "unsolved" issue.

YOU, Storm, simply wish to continue to pursue your personal agenda. It won't work. Calmon and I are buddies. If Zombie can't make his server work, you are welcome to stay home and off the server, though. At least then I won't have to listen to your incessant whining throughout the entire game.

I'm sure nobody but Stormbind will have a problem with this.

As for Stormbind, I'm going to make his decision simple: He can attend the game as intended, or not. If he chooses *NOT* to attend, I'll just ban him permanently, settling the issue for good. I never liked his constant whining anyway.

Hey Rev Zombie since you are from my area (Rochester, NY) I was wondering if you are using the EZ-Firewall provided by RoadRunner. If so I have had the same issue with thier Firewall and have not been able to get it to work. I think it is a hopeless cause.
