MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
mosehansen.dk port 2277
Karan map, Indy 8, magic sites 50 renaming enabled, HOF 15 25 hour quickhost House rules: no caelum, no watchtowers or mausoleums. you want a cheap fort? then ya gotta plunk down the nation points http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Looking for 8 players or so. Victory Conditions: take 3 capitols of vanquished pretenders, while maintaining your own. That is, capitols only count if the nation in question's god no longer exists. (this number may be changed depending on how many nations are playing, and upon the general will of the participants) since i'm starting the game, and w/ house rules, i'll let a few others choose their nations first. Got Vanheim

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
I don't understand why no caelum. the mages? I guess i was thinking about their mobility, in which case I am confused why atlantis and ry'leh would be ok.

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
ehh just tired of the ease of setting up wrath squads. really i originally wanted to use zen's updated cradle map, where caelum has an unfair advantage, and the no-caelum rule just kind of hung around in my head http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
i could remove that rule if the players want. no biggie. as to R'lyeh and Atlantis - I was never convinced that they had such an advantage on Karan, due to the difficulty in pushing their dominion up those waterways. especially w/ indy 8 tritons... Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
I would have taken Vanheim as my first choice, but would gladly take one of Ermor, R'lyeh, Man, Pangaea, or Jotunheim, by order of preference. There is a caveat: this would be my first mp game, so you may not want a possible spoiler due to my inexperience.

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
id be interested in playing as machaka
i dont really care what nation, tho, as i am a newbie with no MP experience, so if somebody else wants it, i can pick another |

If you can stand yet another noob, count me in! I'd like to try Tien Chi, but I'm not too particular. Any house rules about clams/fever fetishes?

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
Another newb willing to give it a shot. Is this newbie overload?

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
ozymandias, tauren, thaufer, and krooldeath: just connect to mosehansen.dk port 2277 and upload your pretenders. then go to the mosehansen page for the game, and register yourself as the player for said game (this is almost optional for someone who's registered in this thread, but its nice and potentially helpful).
no house rules about clams or fever fetishes. Ozymandias, if you want ermor, just upload your pretender at mosehansen and post back here. [ July 22, 2004, 22:07: Message edited by: archaeolept ] |

VC's look cool. I would like to clarify, you do need to maintain a hold on your own nation's capital correct? You could have 10 enemy caps, but without you're own, your SOL, right?
Nation upload and Pretender upload coming shortly. Krool |

I'm going to play Marignon (never played before). I too, will proably be in a world of hurt.
I've actually only played a single game which is still in progress, and thats as Ulm (not including countless demo games). But, I can't learn nothing from the AI behavior, I need human opponents to educate me. Krool |
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
I've uploaded now
- thufir |
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
ok, since thufir has uploaded, there are currently 9 pretenders in it, so i'll start the game tomorrow morning. a tenth is probably possible, if its a water nation.
good luck all |
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
Ok, guys. Heads up. I will probably go stale Saturday as I will be out of town, so a couple of things:
1) I apologize. I'm sure I'm not the only one to ever go out of town, so I can't be the only one to have an occasional stale turn (I'll hit Friday and Sunday no problem). But it is my first MP game so thought I would mention it. Its not a drop. I won't drop...I used to spend $6.50 every two weeks playing Middle-Earth PBM even with a losing nation until the bitter end. 2) Don't take advantage of me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Krool |
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
There are nine pretenders up but it says Ermor is Norfleet and there are no water nations. If Ozymandius takes Ermor and Norfleet moves to R'lyeh, that would make ten and I'd be out. But if Norfleet is sticking with Ermor and I get a response before the game starts I'll take Atlantis. I don't really like any of the Atlantis pretenders but I don't feel like playing R'lyeh.

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
lol
so far i'm not sure if ozymandias has tried to upload. norf hasn't relinquished the slot by going "anonymous". i'll go w/ the general will on what should happen - but as things stand now, there is an open water slot. If ozymandias shows, i can always kick open the slot. krooldeath: on 25 hour quick host, its possible that you might not stale a turn. lets say you get in a turn friday evening, but the Last guy doesn't get his in until sat morning - then your next turn won't be absolutely due until sunday morming. otherwise, don't worry about it - one stale turn isn't so bad, IMO. Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
Is Kelp Fortress a watchtower and Dark Citadel a mausoleum? That wouldn't leave Atlantis with many options. One to be exact.
Edit: Dark Citadel is definitely not a mausoleum but still curious about the Kelp Fortress. [ July 23, 2004, 04:11: Message edited by: Yossar ] |

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
Well it looks like you got everything ready while I was laboring. Its okay that Norfleet bumped me out of Ermor, I'll just find another game, hopefully with fewer vets.
|
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
well, you called it first and you can have it if you want it. there are a few vets, but just as many noobs.
yossar, you might as well upload. be nice to see an Atlantis player. |
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
Okay, I'll upload a pretender then. If Norfleet will vacate Ermor, I'll play that, else I will upload a pretender for a diffrent nation, probably R'lyeh or Man.
|
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
I'm out. You can overwrite me. Something's come up and I won't be able to attend the game anyway.
|
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
ozymandias, upload your pretender and register the nation as your own on the mosehansen page
https://www.mosehansen.dk/cgi-bin/do...game=belle_air also djtool and thufir, please claim the "anonymous" nation in your name on the mosehansen belle_air page if norf is out, then his secondary desire for r'lyeh is vitiated, and yossar should upload Atlantis. Can I ask the defintion of "25 hr Quickhost"? If I were to speculate (based on nothing other than wishful thinking), I'd hope that it meant that as soon as everyone submitted their turn, the turn was hosted immediately. If everyone has not submitted their turn, then the turn is processed on the 25th hr after the Last turn was processed. Am I correct? Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
the great advantage of quickhost is that, in the early game when turns are short, it allows the game to proceed at a reasonable pace if all the participants are on the ball.
otoh, you always have at least 25 hrs to do your next move, if life gets in the way of the important things http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
Archaeolept,
Just curious, but I don't see you on the list of players - are you using a second user name? Or did you just set up this game out of pure generosity? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif - thufir |
Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
Game On!
there are 10 players, as opposed to the original conception of 8. As such, the victory conditions are to be the first to hold 4 capitals of vanquished pretenders (while still having your own). good luck http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |

Re: MP Game - Belle Air - now underway
well, nor, how can i be "hogging" if i set up one game? hogging implies the sin of gluttony.
actually, i didn't feel much need to join in as there was such a rush of people who wanted to play. As well, norfleet had said that he wanted to play, and i'd still rather avoid games w/ him for the time being. Not that I wanted to go w/ a "no norfleets" house rule either. anyways, the game seems to have started a bit slow. hopefully tomorrow you guys can pick up the pace a bit, and get more of the easy early part of the game out of the way. enjoy. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
