Item Secrets

what things count when you slay enemy commander and receive/not receive his items?

do i have to be in close combat or sumthing like thet? do items stay in the province after the battle, so that patrolling or searching troops may find then afterwards. this could be nice add in upcoming patch, if its not all ready part of the game. i havent come across such events in my games.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">AFAIK, it's random, and the recipient(s) must also have available free slots for the items that *might* be picked up.

oh and with att 0 def 0 even pd has a chance at vanquishing him http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif .
isn't precision also 0 when blind ? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

as i said no serious mp strat but one of the most evil ways to humiliate others doing things like that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
you can show them how weak they are when you can afford wasting your gems on crap like that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: Item Secrets

Idea for a new spell:

Destroys all non-artifact items the casting mage has equipped and, for every 40 gems used in their forging, increases growth scale of the province the spell is casted. I say 40 gems because forge bonuses might lead to abusing it, even though Growth needs time to have a big effect. Would not help every SC, but there would be an option.

Is this the right thread for this, or should I move this to the new spell wishlist?

Natural Balance

Thaumaturgy 5
Nature 3
25 gems

This ritual draws its power from the items the mage casting the ritual has with him. The magic used in the making of these items is released in a violent purge, reducing the items to raw materials and wild magic which is then channeled to the soil and earth of the province, increasing the harvest and blessing the lands. All items used to power this spell are totally destroyed, including cursed items but not artifacts. The effect grows with the magic power used to make the items, but the skill or the quality of the items has no effect.

Thaumaturgy (has Dispel, closest to this spell in what it is supposed to do) or Alteration (Wolven Winter, the spell closest in effect)? Is 25 gems too much?

Re: Item Secrets

Edi, are you sure you didn't get those items back because the enemies in question had looted them from you, and then you looted them from them when you killed them later?

Endoperez, I think that suggestion would work best in another thread.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Yes, this is how it happened. Seems I misunderstood the original question, which was asking if lost items could be found, which they of course can't.

Re: Item Secrets

With all this talk about finding items and making pretenders go blind (a very evil thing btw http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ), a few questions have popped into my mind:

1. If a commander is disintegrated, will he/she drop his/her items, or do they become dust aswell?

2. Can pretenders that don't appear to have eyes (ex: Oracle, Fountain of Blood, etc.) actually go blind?

3. Is it possible to heal lost eyes?

4. Is chlorine actually good for your eyesight (I don't think so, but I'm being told that it is by my friends)?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Some units and pretenders are flagged as blind, meaning they function without natural vision. The Blind affliction does not affect them. Some of these blind units, such as the Void Lord, also have eyes. They are not affected by the loss of these eyes, but they can still lose them.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Lost eyes and blindness heal as any other affliction does, that is, to say, not at all, barring recuperation, immortality, the Chalice, a Healer if you're not undead, and GoH.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Bleach uses chlorine as one of its major ingredients. How about I pour some bleach in your eyes and see how that makes you feel?

I've heard very bizarre things to be true, and I figured I'd just get rid of any uncertainty that I had.

And Norfleet, I'll pass on that offer http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif .

The manual says that cursed items and artifacts are more likely to be found than other items. I've never heard of people finding items that were dropped on a previous turn.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">there is a section about that in the manual :
page 18 loot :
the power of the item determines the chances of finding the item ( research level counts for that not magic paths levels ) .
according to the manual artifacts and cursed items are almost always found .
furthermore they state that the items are found by a random commander on the winning side .

interesting :
afaik you can't remove a cursed item right ?
is there any cool use of that ?
perhaps when your enemy has a nonimmortal sc pretender could you send a scout to battle with him with 2 eyes of aiming ?
the pretender should find them and be BLIND hehe .
then he has to chose whether staying blind or losing 1 in all his paths http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
if you are already winning this could be great for humiliating your opponents http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Except by dying and making sure you have no other commanders in the same province, or that they have all the slots the cursed item could go into already filled.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I have. Had a Wraith Lord armed with the Sickle Whose Crop Is Pain and other nifty stuff, as well as another one equipped to the max. An enemy Lich and his assorted backup whacked both of them and I lost a ****load of expensive equipment. Four turns later I stomped the offending nation to tiny little bits and my various support commanders got back roughly a third of the equipment that got lost (including the Sickle). I've also had it happen to me on another occasion where an equipped firbolg got hammered and then his killers stomped a few turns later.

The amount of equipment I got back was rather large given how much is usually never found in the first place.
