Yes, I have done this before. But I'm still convinced that something is wrong with thier chances for appearing. I've played a lot , and have found all the other amazons over a dozen times- but never a crystal. This is despite plains being one of the most common terrian types.

I have added Garnet and Jade to the poll to provide a better average.

Then there's the Pink PLastic Amazons (inflatable), and the Ex-spouse Amazons. Heh.

I do think you're right though - either there's a bug with Crystal Amazons, _or_ Illwinter decided to make them very very very very rare. (I may have left out a few very's.)

Huh? Someone has only found Jade amazons once but Garnet Amazons in most games? (Having seen the results of 2 people voting, and then 3 people voting, I know this was the same person.)

I'm guessing someone who has mostly only played aquatic nations?

I've so very rarely seen ambers, (twice) while I've had Jades in 2 provinces neighboring my capital in one game alone, on Urgaea, and certainly see them in at least 1/4 to 1/2 my games.

I think this poll has some structural problems. Perhaps questions with answers like 'never', 'seldom', 'often', & 'constantly' would provide a better feel of the provinces that poll contributers remember better because they were noteworthy in some game or other. That being said it does seem like the crystals are quite a bit less likely. I have only encountered them a couple times during my testbedding of various nations. Often plains battles are terribly dull too; this province has light infantry, militia, and archers - that one has heavy infantry, militia, and archers.

i've never seen crystal amazons, nor have they been inn any MP game i've ever been in. I'm sure Norfleet hadn't ever seen them either, Last I asked.

hell, they're not in any MP game on these Boards, I'd bet. I would love to be proven wrong.

Jade amazons otoh are commonplace. I really don't know what's up w/ arryn, unless he plays some bizarre settings, or set maps, or really is referring to Dom I.

frankly, I suspect that people who think they've seen them, haven't.

Sorry to disappoint you. Nor do I understand what the big deal is about how I responded to an unscientific poll. It's hardly statistically significant.

I've only seen crystals once, and garnet are rare, but every Aran game I play, I find Jade and Onyx.

Frankly, I don't care about that much, onyx amazons are the only ones I ever think to recruit, with their nightmare cavalry. Crystal amazons do have high prec, but their shortbows dont' have much penetration power.

Yeah I tend to watch for Garnet (red) and Jade (green) Amazons also. The Jades are a nice magic boost for anyone who is low on mages or even if they are just low on nature magics. Good for getting that first water province also. The Garnets are good for blood hunting and for doing "hellbind heart". I particularly like to give Garnet province no defense and park a high air-magic mage there to do that wind travel spell. Snagging enemy commanders, having the garnets try to bind him, stopping the other guys armies and gaining his equipment. Its like having a gift to open each turn.

but I still don't understand how you are commonly encountering crystal amazons. It beggars the laws of probability that so many of us, who have encountered thousands of plains, have never seen any.

I have never encountered Crystal Amazons.

I didnt vote in the poll, because I didnt understand it (1/4 of the time = what? of all games, all provinces, all turns?). It seems like someone who doesnt play the game religiously (HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! oh sorry), but maybe only like 20 games total (so far), or do not play long games, or play only long games, will find "1/4 of the time" and "twice" to be very bizarre ways of gauging how often they are found.

I find Onyx and Jades quite often, usually one or the other in most SP games I play until turn 60-80ish or so (usually quit after then if I havent won already). I found Garnet ones only about thrice or four times, and I play waaaaay too much dominions. (I should play about 1/10th the amount I do, that would be healthy.)
I have never found crystal ones.

EDIT: The poll may be badly worded, I meant it to say about 1/4 of games.
