Have you tried the SE IV Companion 0.82?

Ok, This poll is about Version 0.82 not the previous ones.
So disregard earlier experiances http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

(I don't get very many registrations so I try this for feedback, if you have any comments please post in this or the Companion release thread.)

The Companion is looking very good. I managed to log into the #se4 chatroom after my first failed attempt. (People, if you have a 'registered' gamesurge irc account name, use a different name to log in through the Companion. It will just give you an error due to the name allready being used/reserved. Other than that, logging in was surprisingly simple. And if I can do it anyone can.)

Keep up the fantastic work Ruatha, Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

It will curl your toes and erase your short term memory. (well, I'm pretty sure that's what it did for me, but I can't seem to remember exactly.)

Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

It's basicly a combined modlauncher and PBW scanner, it will downbload new turns for you automaticly, you can set it to scan the PBW server for example every hour.

And then it gots some extra features aswell.

Saying the companion has "some" extra features is like saying Atrocities has released "some" shipsets, or that it's "quite a long way" to Proxima Centauri.

Re: Have you tried the SE IV Companion 0.82?

so i downloaded your tool, right now im trying to set it up. Strangely i already downloaded the same turn 3 times but whenever i want to play it, the game loads the old turn. Must be my mistake. Anyways i have a small request: Since im on dial up i would like to see a small picture which shows me the current download status (i.e. turn at 30% downloaded or something)

will post later, given i get the companion to work right http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Yes, the download bit.
I'd love to have a progress meter, but to download from PBW I furst must pas the passwords check, and most download routines can't manage PBW download.
This is sofar the best i've found and I still haven't found a way to enable a progress meter.
It freezes during download, the animation effect is casued by a seperate thread that has no contact with the download thread...

Good to hear it works on dial-up, I didn't belive it would work well with dial-up.
Did you get to see why it started old turns instead of the new one and why it downloaded the same three times?
