Bizarre Turn Processing Error
When processing the current turn for a PBW game using Adamant Mod, this error appears at 55% processing completion:
http://www.spaceempires.net/files/temp/zuh.png The processing window then vanishes (after I click on the ok button), but the main game window remains. I can minimize it and restore it without incident, but the rest of the interface is non-responsive. Has anyone seen such an error before? Know what might cause it? I have never seen a C:\myvb folder before... |

Re: Bizarre Turn Processing Error

Re: Bizarre Turn Processing Error
It's an error message citing the exact line in the source code where the error occurs. The error involves some sort of 'null' event where a process was called on an invalid pointer/array member. "Object ID is zero" means null, no object. So, it was trying to delete something and wasn't given anything to delete. Either it was already deleted or the variable was trashed before it was passed to the process. Oops... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I didn't think MM allowed executables with debug information still attached to get out. You can send that error message to MM and he'll know exactly where to look in the source code. Then he can wonder how you got the exact line number... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif I'm sure he would never intentionally allow the debug information to get out. It makes things too easy for hackers. |

Stop using your hacked beta copy to run PBW games, Fyron! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif j/k

Re: Bizarre Turn Processing Error
Is the Adamant game in question Adamant 011? In that game I can't make ships obsolete, perhaps it has something to do with the problem http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

Re: Bizarre Turn Processing Error
It is Adamant 014. You cannot make your ships obsolete because all of them are already obsolete compared to our state-of-the-art technology. *Chuckles*
A bit more seriously, I cannot make my ships obsolete in Adamant 014 either, and I didn't try in the other Adamant games (Scout said it didn't work in Adamant 012). Do not ask me why, however. |
Re: Bizarre Turn Processing Error
The only ships that you can not make obselete are those that use components requiring technology that you do not possess. Such components were removed from being useable due to balance issues... Every other ship can be obseleted without incident.

Re: Bizarre Turn Processing Error
Yea what fyron said.

Re: Bizarre Turn Processing Error
I have failed to obsolete AI designed ships in Adamant 014 twice when I took over. The ships did not use any kind of special technology, and I can build them just fine. The ships had also never been built, or had been destroyed in the first few turns.
So I either ran into a bug of the game, or I cannot remember what I am doing, and clicked twice on "Make Obsolete", or something along these lines. |
Re: Bizarre Turn Processing Error
we have the same Problem by the GrauMod PBW-game "SolarisVII". no way to continue the game. The error occurs in connection with some turnfiles from players. i don't know why. if you need this bug reproducible take "SolarisVII" with its uploaded player turns. 100% chance to see the error. |
Re: Bizarre Turn Processing Error
Fyron, if you want to play around with it, you could try prosessing the turn leaving one of our turn files out till you find which one it causeing the problem then try work out something from that...
