MP Game - European War

I'm in need of another game to replace some that are starting to wind down, so I'm going to host another one. The conditions are going to be fairly standard, except that a win will be by victory points.

The game conditions will be:
Map: Zen's Europe map.
Magic Sites: 50%
Independents: 6
Renaming on
Standard Research
No house rules
48 hr quickhost
The winning condition will be to control a number of victory points equal to the number of players. Each capital will count as a victory point. There will be a number of other victory points spread around the map. The amount of these victory points that are spread around the map will be one less than the total number of players.

I will be playing Mictlan.

Edit:
The IP is:68.148.43.237 and the port is 5555

Acck. I also forgot to add that I plan to run the most current Version of Zen's Conceptual Pretender mod.

You don't have to because I mentioned it Was just wondering if standard ment, "standard".

Unmodded Dominions is still, even to me, very good http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

No, I wanted the mod actually, since I'm hoping to see a wide variety of pretender types.

I'm all for using the mod - I was looking forward to trying that out myself. But in this case, I would prefer to play Pythium, rather than Ermor.

I'm thinking to take either Vanheim or Pangaea; Vanheim's a bit more thematic for Europe, but.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Truper October 3rd, 2004 01:34 PM

Re: MP Game - European War

I'll take Vanheim if Cainehill doesn't, otherwise I'll make some other choice. But either way, count me in http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Cainehill October 3rd, 2004 08:17 PM

Re: MP Game - European War

Truper - if you have a particular yen for Vanheim, it's yours. I'll drop down to ... Pangaea or Jotunheim, the Jotuns also being thematic for a European game.

I will try r'lyeh on this map. With pretender mod 1.65 I might actually have a chance!

Just curious, msew, but have you ever played anything other than R'lyeh? BTW, this looks like a great map for R'lyeh, especially if Atlantis is not playing.

msew October 4th, 2004 01:08 AM

It does, but in the event that nobody signs up for Atlantis, I think with the hardcore veterans (e.g. Graeme, Truper, Cainehill - not sure about your experience level, Kel) in this game that it would not be a disaster to give msew an advantage.

During a brief bit of testing, I've noticed one error on the map - Eastern Mediterranian is a Plains (i.e. land) province.

Yep, the one near Carthage, right? Though water nations don't really suffer from the lack of sea provinces http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Trrrrrrrrroooooooools!

What nations are left, could you post up a "who is what, here is what is left" post? I may venture into this game, if only I like playing with Graeme, Truper, Arch and Quantum and fighting on my own map with my own Mod, I should win by default!

This thread needs more Furblog.

I'm in this one? ;p

but sure, if there's yet another spot left. I've never played the europe map and it looks nice, at least.

and it seems as storm is quitting out of his "no-quitters" Thrones game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif, so i could add in a new one.

Aby is available? i've never played them so that should be fun, even if they are hideously underpowered...

pan or jot for cainehill

aby maybe for me

I will withdraw my place, since it's cramping up a little. But I will be watching this thread to see any comments, questions, flaming accusations of cheating or 'allies' that might crop up and I can then, wonder at your sanity!

Re: MP Game - European War

To answer your questions, the game will be starting this weekend, or on Tuesday. The IP is:68.148.43.237 and the port is 5555

We'll be using the most recent Version of Zen's mod which is Version 1.7

If there is a new patch coming out shortly, then we'll use that as soon as possible as long as there are no serious issues.

Cainehill October 8th, 2004 02:02 AM

Re: MP Game - European War

Regarding a new patch - Illwinter has a 1.15 patch on their site. Supposedly fixes two bugs, and "Powerful Mages are more conservative with their magic gem spending".

Cainehill October 8th, 2004 02:07 AM

Re: MP Game - European War

Zen - if you want in but think it's getting too crowded, I'll drop out. I've probably got enough games going at the moment, although I was kinda looking forward to playing against you for the first time in about half a year. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Zen October 8th, 2004 02:13 AM

Re: MP Game - European War

Well, lets get a finalized list. I'll play if you were going to drop out because I'm too freak'n uber. I just need to know who to play.

Also the fact that I am backseat quarterback to a few people might not help http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

archaeolept October 8th, 2004 02:18 AM

Re: MP Game - European War

hey! I was gonna drop out first!

seriously, i'd like to play but i'm a bit overloaded. I should stay out - you two can both play, if you wish.

Cainehill October 8th, 2004 03:19 AM

Re: MP Game - European War

Hmmm. I have Jotun games going, ditto Pangaea, and don't want to take a "cheezy overpowered" nation like Abysia, so... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Zen, take your pick - I'm actually leaning towards T'ien C'hi or Machaka now.

This is _if_ Arch is bowing out and Zen's back in with that number of players - otherwise I'll stay out so Zen gets in.

If I tallied up the dropouts and undropouts correctly, I think there might be room for another? Would anybody feel overcrowded if I joined?
Thanks!

Zen October 9th, 2004 02:06 AM

Re: MP Game - European War

I shall be playing Pangaea (Unless Cainehill wants Pan, and then I'll take Jotun).

Tell me when this game is fired up and ready and I'll load up my Pretender and start with the trashtalking RP that I so enjoy.

Cainehill October 9th, 2004 02:12 AM

Re: MP Game - European War

While it's very tempting to play my strong suit (CW Pan), I've got a couple of them going right now, so Zen gets to stealthily murder us all. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I'm still toying with pretenders and themes but as noted previously, leaning towards TC or Machaka - might do my second Atlantis though, just to keep msew's R'lyeh in check. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
