Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art)
It must be very clever human heads (considering size of a scull).
Seriously, chin is too narrow and calvarium is too wide. Because of that they look like aliens. Make nose converenging to the eyebrows. And this strange smile ... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif |
Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art)
I added a couple of shots for better perspective. Thanks. And one more.

Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art)
The eyes are too high up. On a real human head, the eyes are right in the middle.

Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art)
What program are you using Narf?
If you can, use NURBS editing. Or splines if you can't use NURBS. It hink you're using box-editing right now. Nontheless very impressive. Keep up the good work! |
Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art)
Wings3d. I've got rhino but havn't gotten into it. Is it really that much better?
Thanks, people. |
Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art)
I don't know Rhino that well. I use 3ds max and solidworks and those serve me very well.
I know a lot about SW, but 3ds max is still very new to me. I would like to try Lightwave, but the price is very high and I can't seem to find a person from whom I can borrow it for a while. I've seen VERY NICE models comming from LW and 3ds. SW doens't lend itself too well for organic forms. If I come across a good body tutorial for Rhino, I'll let you know. Good luck with modeling, Mister Mouse. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |

Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art)
Why should I retype it? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Anyway, it took longer for me to get around to it than I thought it would. I did have other stuff to do, so I'll use that excuse. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif But I will try to update in a more timely manner next time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Front http://www3.telus.net/funnybnz/Head-Front.png Left side http://www3.telus.net/funnybnz/Head-Side.png Bottom http://www3.telus.net/funnybnz/Head-Bottom.png Whole person to give perspective on the size of the head, unsmoothed. http://www3.telus.net/funnybnz/Person.png And smoothed http://www3.telus.net/funnybnz/Person-Smoothed.png Suggestions? Yes, that is supposed to be a human head. |
Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art, Updated)
Looks better than the first one, but it needs ears. Also, the lips look too big from the front and the nose is missing nostrils. It would be nice if you could fix those little black triangles, too.
|
Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art, Updated)
Thanks. Going to do ears Last. Lips can be fixed easy, I think. As for nostrils, I'm going to texture them in, as this is going to be a CRPG generic humaniod form for making characters and stuff of off and not a 10,000 triangle work of art. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Nothing I can do about the black triangles, that's a problem with the renderer. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art, Updated)
This head looks better than the previous one. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
Those little bulges above the mouth to the right and left gives the face a mousey - weasely look, like a cartoon chipmunk or squirrel. Need to flatten those out to make it look more human. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Otherwise, looks good! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif |
Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art, Updated)
Yes, those are supposed to be cheekbones. Thanks and thanks in advance.
I fixed the cheeckbones. Part of the problem appears to be a renderer problem, along with the bulging eyes, but unless anyone else has any problems(please tell me if you do) I'm declaring the head done. |
Re: OT: Getting a head...(3d art, Updated)

Thumbs up Narf! |
