AAR: The Caelum Confessional

Hi all. In the popular style I thought I would write an AAR of a game as Caelum I am just about to start playing. I'm quite keen on seeing comments and criticism as I'm still learning the magic game and from mid-game on I will get quite lost http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Anyway, lets start with..

Pretender creation
I went for a Vampire Queen with 4 air, 3 water, 4 earth and 3 blood. This combo was suggested to me after chats about a rough design I had with folks on IRC. I can't remember exactly why this combo was suggested.. but I do like SCs, so maybe that is why!

Scales
Order 3, Sloth 3, Cold 3, Death 3, Misfortune 2, Magic 3. In the end I understand that magic and summonings is going to be how Caelum wins wars and so population and productivity aren't particularly necesary. Once the gems come in things wil be moving quickly enough.

A watch tower was suggested as a relatively cheap way of getting bases to churn out casters as soon as possible.

Game Settings
Map, Cradle of Zen. Seven computer players on Normal. Abysia, Atlantis, Pythium, Man, Ulm, C'tis, Arc. Indie strength 9, very difficult magic research, 50% site chance.

Right, lets go!

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 1

Turn Results
"...In the beginning there was chaos"

Empire Status
We start on the farmlands of Starko.
- Income 212 (treasury 400)

Turn Orders
- Queeny is to research Alteration to get the spells she needs to go out and fight.
- Zanantes the scout heads to the plains of Anodyr to the NE (plains = gold! Lets check it out).
- Burja the storm general patrols as the tax is set to 130.
- Burelk's city guard are up for hire so I put in a bid at 145.
- I call on a a seraphine (to be my prophet) and a Mammoth to join us next turn.

Comments
I need gold, and lots of it quickly in order to build castles and support my research purchases.. once I'm up and rolling the leaders and power will flow like water from a flowy thing!

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 2

Turn Results
"...Proclomations from Ulm and C'tis"
"...6 brigands killed and Starko is safe once more"
"...Burelk has been hired"
Nothing terrible. Good!

Empire Status
Vaedhang has arrived.
- Income 203

Turn Orders
- Vaedhang is instructed to complete the rights to become a prophet. Burelk and Bujra are ordered to Anodyr which only has 40 units, a mix of infantries. I hope the mammoth doesn't die and the huge mob of other units will finish off the enemy quickly.
- Zanantes the scout is told to head east to the Selebir woods, a rich province.
- A Seraph and a Mammoth are ordered to join us.
- Tax is dropped to 100.

Comments
Expand! Not much else on my mind.

Calistas October 10th, 2004 09:27 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 3

Turn Results
"...A proclomation from Pythium/Caelum"
- The battle at Anodyr goes well and the province is captured easily with the loss of 8 militia. 4 of those died to my Mammoth which is now battle frightened. O dear!
- Damn troops are eating too much and starting to starve. Tighten your belts lads!

Empire Status
- Two provinces. Good start I think.
- Income 155

Turn Orders
- The Armies are ordered into Selebir woods where about the same number of units reside our scout informs us.
- I order the prophet into Selebir with our 2 mammoths (1 ran home from the fight). I don't script any orders as I want her to respond as needed to any panic.
- I order another Seraph.
- Zanantes heads to the Isle of the Hundred which looks like it might be heavily populated with enemies.

Comments
Expand! Kill! Dominate them my flappy minions! I'm now aware I might have expanded in the wrong direction and will thus not be able to use my mercenaries effectively on the third turn. Damn. Well we'll see where I can move next time.

Calistas October 10th, 2004 09:32 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 4

Turn Results
"...Aleration 1"
"...A proclomation from Arc."
- The battle didn't go well. Why? I forgot to send the Mammoths in. Too much typing hehe. I lose most of my men and all of the mercenaries. Damn. O well.

Empire Status
- 2 Provinces
- Income 153

Turn Orders
- Ok, THIS TIME go and kill those Last remaining people!
- New seraph set to research
- Zanantes reports on 70 units at Isle of the Hundred, including heavy cav. Darn. I order him back to the wastes of Westwatch, to the west of my home province.

Comments
Grr!

Calistas October 10th, 2004 09:39 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 5

Turn Results
- Battle a complete success and we lose just one man.
- Unfortunately we're beginning to starve. That will teach them for not knowing I wanted them to attack properly the Last turn. I don't care if I didn't tell them.. I expect my people to KNOW what I want regardless!

Empire Status
- 3 provinces
- Income 215 (treasury 352)

Turn Orders
- The wastes have only 30 units. I tell Zanantes to go east of home to Valogda, a nice rich province.
- Selebir has an arena. Handy.
- Armies return to the home province. They can't move anywhere else.
- I recruit a high seraph and another mammoth.

Comments
Well at least my fighting went ok. I really did 'paint' myself into a corner though. Should have thought about that.

Calistas October 10th, 2004 09:44 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 6

Turn Results
(no events)

Empire Status
- 3 provinces
- Income 214 (T 208)

Turn Orders
- Mammoth given to the Prophet and she's told to cast Fanatacism and then holy avenger. The 60 units to the east in Valogda won't know what hit 'em!
- Bujra the storm general tags along for the fun (And experience) of it. He's getting stronger and lets keep that going.
- Zanantes heads NE to Heaven's Hold.
- I order another high seraph.

Comments
Gold gold gold gold! I need more! So off I go to get it. I notice now I am connected to a nearby port to the south (because my home has a port icon and that's how the map is). That's a nice rich province and so I will have to consider it soon. Perhaps with Queeny.

Calistas October 10th, 2004 09:53 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 7

Turn Results
"...Alteration 2"
- Well, it seems they DID know what was coming for it and prepared by wearing large scary masks, resulting in my Mammoths fleeing just after contact with the enemy. A few losses to my archers and that was it, the lot fled. My Prophet did none of my orders and I've no idea why just yet.

Empire Status
- 3 Provinces
- Income 214 (T 174)

Turn Orders
- Armies having retreated to home are told to go and head into Westwatch. They've got to be able to take 30 light infantry and assorted rubbish, right? Well. It's worth a shot. If they don't do their job I might have to reconsider the connection between certain prophet's heads and their shoulders!
- Zanantes heads NE once more.
- I order another mammoth and some archers. I need more power! She can'e take it cap'n!

Comments
Who would have thought I could fail so much? Well, ok, you lot I bet. But shussh! I don't want you to scare my prophet. I think she's a fragile type. Ahh, I read holy avenger properly. Silly me. She is set to the other lvl 4 priest spells.

Calistas October 10th, 2004 09:58 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 8

Turn Results
"...A vengeful witch" - 3 units cursed in Starko. Hopefully not a mammoth.
- The battle.. is a terrible failure and all my flying monkeys die in a suicidal charge on heavy infantry. The local lads seem to have heard about the scary mask trick and so the mammoths again run for the hills!

Empire Status
- 3 provinces
- Income 212 (T 139)

Turn Orders
- Well my units end up all over the place and so I will have to spend this turn gathering the units back into one place at home. Grrr!
- Zanantes returns home
- I order another mammoth

Comments
Boy, so much for a fast start with a lot of research! My own fault in wasting those mercenaries so quickly.

ps. Yes, it was a cursed mammoth.

Calistas October 10th, 2004 10:03 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 9

Turn Results
"...Research in alteration" - Lvl 3 at Last

Empire Status
- 3 provinces
- Income 215 (T 144)

Turn Orders
- I decide to be a bit more careful and so order yet another mammoth and a couple more archers to see what I can do to finish up some of these provinces. Taxes go back up and the armies patrol. I'm again broke as I have been at the end of every turn.
- Zanantes is told to head into that port I mentioned earlier, Armavir.
- Research is switched to Enchantment to get Breath of Winter which will be available next turn.

Comments
Grr! I will get them this time! Well, maybe Queeny will!

Calistas October 10th, 2004 10:08 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 10

Turn Results
"...A proclomation from Ulm"
"...Research completed" - Enchantment 1
"...Patrols return order"

Empire Status
- 3 Provinces
- Income 258 (T 166)

Turn Orders
- Ok lads, back into Westthingy! I'm sure you can take it THIS time!
- Queeny, now you're all-spelled up head into the Sea of Saints. It's a nice rich province we need!
- Tax back down
- Zanantes - sit! Stay! Yes, 80 units there. Tough!
- Time for another Seraph. If we don't win that province Queeny will have to carry a few fights on her own.

Comments
..must.. win.. one.. fight!

Calistas October 10th, 2004 10:14 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 11

Turn Results
- The battle goes well! We WON a FIGHT! We DID NOT run AWAY! I consider chopping off less of my generals than I had previously planned. I also notice west thingy has a library and sages are possible. Excellent!
- I forgot to MOVE Queeny and she is currently skulking around behind a lump of Coral. Woman, you have intense powers.. stop with the skulking and start with the head bashing! Ok, next turn.

Empire Status
- 4 provinces
- Income 221 (T 187)

Turn Orders
- I decide another mammoth and some archers are in order as a reward to my lovely generals.
- Research is set to Construction so I can get to 2 and make some nice clams.

Comments
Perhaps my luck is turning?!

Calistas October 10th, 2004 10:19 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 12

Turn Results
"...Plague in Westwatch" - That's what they get for resisting me for so long!
- Queeny does well and slaughters a dozen or more fish people and they run for the.. er.. hills? Either way, I'm happy!

Empire Status
- 5 provinces
- Income 269 (T 160)

Turn Orders
- I order the boys back across the river into Valogda.
- Queeny can't resist searching the gold of the North Sea of Kaspus to the east and so charges in there. She leaves behind a Coral Reef which is a nice discovery!

Comments
Things are looking up!

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 13

Turn Results
"...Research complete" - Construction 1
"...Handful of gems in Westwatch" - Seems they know how to appease me. Good!
- The battle of Valogda went well and the Mammoths produce many small splatter marks on the snow.
- Queeny was chucked out of Kaspus and fled without striking a blow. I mark those tritons down in my little black book for some 'special treatment' later on.

Empire Status
- 6 provinces
- Income 315 (T 260)

Turn Orders
- Queeny is ordered into Heaven's Hold (it's a special site and so I want her to search it).
- The Army is ordered into Shalen to the SE.
- A seraph is ordered into Westwatch to set up a lab.
- An arch-seraph and many more archers are ordered up.

Comments
I'm surprised Queeny lost the fight. She fled without even casting a spell, just had a dozen Tritons beating on her. Ouch! Well, at least she didn't die. Smart god!

Calistas October 10th, 2004 10:34 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 14

Turn Results
"...extra tax in Valgoda" - Great!
- Queeny captures Heaven's Hold easily
- And my army is completely destroyed in Shalen by Gryphon Riders and their buddies. My general lives but my prophet dies. Good ridence I figure! Ok, so those gryphon guys are bad then? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif

Empire Status
- 7 provinces
- Income 339 (T 569)

Turn Orders
- I order Queeny to search.
- My general and three units to join Queeny for some building next turn.
- I order up a new Seraphine. A good one please!
- I don't think I will order up another army. I'm not sure it's worth it. Instead, lets think about taking ove the world.
- I order a lab in Westwatch.

Comments
What's the deal with these damn units? I guess they aren't much good! Time to bulk up on leaders and summons while Queeny expands our borders I guess!

TURN 15

Turn Results
"...Research completed" - Construction 2. Handy
"...Sites found" - Queeny finds a Gallows. Not that amazing really.

Empire Status

Turn Orders
- General is to build a fort.
- Queeny to jump the mountains and go sort out those Shalen people!
- I order a sage and a seraph. Good one!
- Research put on hold to make clam shells and owls quills.

Comments
Well things are going slowly, but I'm.. er.. building up strength on the inside! Yeah, yeah! I like a lot of owl quills and clam's seem required.

TURN 16

Turn Results
"...Temp drop in Westwatch, 5% die" - haha. Yes, I am fickle!
"...Witch cursing in Selebir"
- Queeny routes. Hmm. She doesn't like flying troops I guess. Big chicken!

Empire Status
- 7 provinces
- Income 342 (T 305)

Turn Orders
- Maybe Queeny would feel better with an Ice Sword. I get one made while she sneaks into Westwatch to do some searching.
- Another high seraph and sage are ordered.
- Fort building continues.
- I order Scouty back to Isle of the Hundred. I'm curious about it and maybe it will be a target for Queeny.
- Research goes back to Alteration for Soul Vortex.

Comments
Hmmm. What to do about those troops that engage so quickly! Not sure, but it scares the bejesus out of Queeny.

- Army patrols as tax goes up.
- Lab constructed at Heavens Hold.

Comments

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

What I Would Do Differently:

Having more units helps to keep squads fighting. Having only one mammoth is a bad idea. Having a mammoth and 24 units would't be very good either. Having few mammoths and 4-6 units fares much better. Especially if those few units have high morale. That means either Wingless or Temple Guards for Caelum until you find something more interesting.

Vampire Queens need their boosters in most cases, so both fliers and cavalry can be a hard opponent. She is immortal though, so she can just wear cavalry down as she will be able to cast some of the more important boosters and finish some of them.

Ouch! After reading what Sachmo wrote I understood Gandalf is with his "remember to thank for the free stuff" talk... I critistized this but forgot to thank for it! I think this is really great, especially as a learning tool if some experienced people comment on it... It is a great read, though: fast, simple and still explains why and what you did.

BTW, I don't count myself on those "experienced", although I commented this!

Thanks a lot folks. It's quite fun and it makes me concentrate more on the game. In SP games I tend to just burn through the game till I am confused and then I stop. This will help me play through to an end game of some sorts!

Thanks for the unit tips too Endo!

TURN 19

Turn Results
"...Research complete" - Alteration 4
"...Prophet's power gone" - Good, time for that Seraphine
- Queeny wins the battle easily in the Isle of the Hundred!
- Peace restored at home

Empire Status
- 8 provinces
- Income 424 (T 328)

Turn Orders
- Queeny is to search. I'm hoping that Isle place had so many troops because there was more than just a library there... Which is still good mind.
- Scout goes NE into some woods
- Seraph, scribe and mammoth are put on order.
- Another clam is ordered up.
- Seraphine is ordered to become the Prophet. Hurah! Maybe she will be a whole lot less unlucky than the Last one http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 20

Turn Results
"...Two magic sites found" - Nice one Queeny! Another Well of Pestilence. I am reminded at the start of the game my comments on not having to worry too much about population. This is now VERY true! Also, Ten Thousand Things which produces one of each of the elemental gems! Great!
"...Proclomation from Caelum" - no, really?
- Peace restored at home

Empire Status
- 8 provinces
- Income 431 (T 307)

Turn Orders
- I order my new Seraph to the Isle to build that lab so I can get yet more sages.
- Queeny is set to invade Lankwood which has a mere 70 units.
- Scout is sent NW to Stavang, a rich town province it seems.
- I order up some wingless and a mammoth at my two forts (the mammoth will take two turns). I also order up yet another sage.

Comments
For now expanding and increasing my income and forts seems like the best plan. If I get the chance to search for some nice gems I will but I plan to Acashic Record for them later on mostly. Meanwhile I'll also build up my army more. A few more mammoths and some tough wingless infantry should do the trick!

Calistas October 11th, 2004 01:08 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 21

Turn Results
"...Proclomation from Ulm" - Again? Thats the third time right?
- Queeny defeats 83 infantry and 3 leaders. Nice one girl!
- Peace restored

Empire Status
- 9 provinces
- Income 463 (T 354)

Turn Orders
- Queeny to head into Stavang.
- Scout heads NE to some bit of farm land
- I'm short on astrals and I will need a lot of them I realise so I get an astral sage to start a bit of site searching.
- I order another seraph and some more wingless.
- I order that lab to be built
- I order another owl's quill to be fashioned.

Comments
Pretty self explanatory I think. Trying to get that army on its feet ASAP and also keep Queeny expanding into rich provinces to keep my income up. I'll start looking at an item or two to equip my prophet next.

Calistas October 11th, 2004 01:18 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 22

Turn Results
"...Research complete" - Alteration 5. Lovely. Really I have no idea what I'm doing with my research now other than going for Soul Vortex. Something else will come along I guess. Soon I will need Acashic Record so I might as well get that next.
"...Brigands in heavens hold" - bah! Humbug!
- Queeny easily beats 60-odd units in Stavang. Mind you, the 20 or-so heavy cav. dropped her mirror image.. and got her to 20hp. Ouch!
- Order restored.

Empire Status
- 9 provinces
- Income 543 (T 345) - look! funny backwards forwards number thing!! Ok, not that exciting.

Turn Orders
- Queeny to head into those farmlands even though Zanantes says they are defended by around 90 units. Hey, only a few can ever surround her at once, right!
- Scouty boy heads SE into some woods
- Astral sage heads to Isle of the Hundreds
- Another clam and owl quill are ordered
- 2 sages, a mammoth and some wingless are put on the tab.
- I order a sage to make a horror helm. I wanted a nice 'lead undead' item so I can take the three vampires from my home province (yeah I have some. Wonder if they are useful?) on campaign but for now I will just have to wait. I think Queeny will get the helm. Or more likely my Prophet as she might need all the help she can get if I send her into battle?

- Unrest put down at home. You will like those high taxes or be damnned!

Empire Status
- 10 provinces
- Income 565 (T 413)

Turn Orders
- I spend a little on 10 PDs for a handfull of those rich provinces.
- Queeny charges off to South Vank. Sound.
- Another Seraph, some archers and a mammoth are ordered taking me down to 3 gold. The prophet heads off with the wingless to pick up the mammoth.
- General carries on patrolling and will meet the Prophet next turn.

Turn Orders

- My searching scirbe heads to the capital on the way to Shalen.
- Queeny flies to the port of Armavir, that lovely rich one I've been wanting for a while.
- Scout continues to scout the north.
- Two more sages and a high seraph are ...persuaded to join the cause.

Comments
I should be able to take Shalen now I figure. Well, we'll see in a couple of turns! I might take Queeny along for the ride with a different spell set-up.

TURN 25

Turn Results
"...Witch in Heavens Gate" - what have I done to raise their Ire?!
"...Troops starve in Valodga" - better get this fight on.

Empire Status

- Income 561 (T 393)

Turn Orders
- Queeny ATTACKs Shalen with the armies and I have her set to cast 'destruction' a lot. This might be the best way to deal with those larger units.
- More seraph's, mammoths and wingless are ordered leaving me with 23 gold.
- Only 42 to Alteration 6 I put the rest into Enchantment and I order another Clam shell be created.

Turn Results

"...Research complete" - Enchantment 2

Empire Status

Turn Orders
- Queeny to ATTACK! Lets hope she doesn't die (Which is why she pops back at home province I have at Last figured out?)
- Armies run home and relieve the starving and rearm.
- I order up a couple of storm general. Maybe a few of these appropriately equiped will make things a bit easier!

Comments
I'm sort-of not surprised by the outcome of the fight. I did take down most of the Gryphon thing so it should be an easier fight.. But Caelum troops are trickier than I'm used to (Jotunheim) so I am really going to have to think a bit harder here! Also, it's time for another fort I think.

- Income 565 (T 421)

Turn Orders
- Queeny searches. There must be something there. The sage joins her in that province.
- Army patrols at home.
- A new general flies to South Lakewood. With a good resource income there it will do fine for another fort place.
- I recruit another 2 sages and a seraphine.. Just because I can.
- Army recruitment continues but I don't get many wingless per turn.
- Remembering Acashic Record is CONJURATION I switch to the CORRECT BLOODY SPELL LINE!
- I order another clam and three longbow's of accuracy. I figure I might give my generals something to use and I don't want them tooo close to any bloody panicky Mammoths. I consider a spot of armor for the lads too but not this turn.

TURN 29

Turn Results
"...Arc declares war!" - Bring it on. Queen will bite you to death!
"...Research complete" - Conjuration 3
- The wastes of Heaven's Hold Mountains are ALL MINE! Queeny gets her fourth star now I think too. Good girl!

Empire Status
- 13 provinces

Turn Orders
- Queeny is to head east into some nice rich Steps. I figure with Acashic Record coming soon I won't worry too much about searching with heroes as my gem income is ok now.
- The rest of the Army is told to move to Heaven's Hold to prepare to strike North East.
- My Seraphine is ordered towards Stavang where I think a temple might be in order as there's some strong dominion to the north.
- 2 more sages, a high seraph, a mammoth and some wingless drain the treasury once more.

Comments
Maybe I shouldn't bother building more mammoths.. But I just love how they squish things!

Im enjoying the format. On the one hand I like to encurage the extensive writeups and would love to see one of the more fluent writers do one in book form. On the other hand, I dont have the attention span to read those. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif This one is a nice option as AARs go.

Liar. I know that you've read mine, which is one of the longest threads on the forum. And as far as well-written stories go, I also know you've read Peter's fine AAR. There's nothing wrong with your attention span. Especially since as a moderator I know you read all the threads.

Watch out, She Knows All! I'll post some more this afternoon.. and I'm going to have to figure out HOW I am going to cast Acashic Record as I recall now that I am not playing Pythium http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 31

Turn Results
"...Research complete" - Conjuration 5 woo! Acashic Record! But as I recall I am not playing bloody Pythium so how am I going to cast it!? No idea yet.
- The battle in the Dunwash was won! Got a few supply problems there now. Better keep the lads moving!

Empire Status
- 15 provinces
- Income 64 3(T 625)

Turn Orders
- Queeny to ATTACK, NOT SNEAK! Grr.
- Army to move NE again along the river there.
- Research
- 2 more clams ordered
- I have three mages cast 'summon spring hawks'. Flying bitey things, it's got to be all good!
- I order two more sages and three more mammoths and some assorted wingless.
- Research is switched to construction

Comments
I have no clear idea what to do now. I can NOT get Acashic Record unless I empower my one sage with Astral 1 so I can then go on and make a starshine skullcup, requiring construction 6. I figure this is the best way.. as.. I guess crystals are useful and I'd rather not have mages running all over the show searching things out.
I also have no clear idea how to progress now. Things are clearly middle-game ish and I don't think my army is particularly useful. Queeny is rocking and I don't see that changing vs independents.. but surely I could be doing some better magic or summoning some better troops? Or using some mages to do the dirty work? No idea really!

Calistas October 12th, 2004 07:21 AM

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 32

Turn Results
"...Spring hawks" x3
- My army lost its fight (oops, it had no wingless left!). Two mammoths die and so everyone fled. Bugger. Better go collect some more troops.
- Queeny won and discovers a plain of perpetual thingumy. Anyway, one fire gem a turn extra. It is a wasteland..
- I forgot to move research or my sage, grrr!!!

Empire Status
- 16 provinces
- Income 648 (T 412)

Turn Orders
- CHANGE research
- MOVE the astral sage (got a ton of pearls with these clams so empowering won't be too painful).
- Move army homewards.
- Ooh, sage is already at a lab.. and I have around 85 pearls! Lovely, Empowerment time!
- Queeny heads into North Sea Kaspus (again? I forget).
- A high seraph move the birdies to my castle to the east. He takes 3 mammoth, some wingless and a my 4 vampires too.
- Far north taskforce set up a fort.

Comments
I examine these hawks. They look like rubbish! Maybe they were a waste of SIXTY gems. Right now all I care about is Acashic Record, cos I've never used it. It sounds fun!

Now it maybe too late but Alteration 6 is extremely useful for Caelum . False horror is the key spell there http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif .
Evocation 4/5 are also very nice for Caelum : Thunder strike + orb lightning . Death to everything non lightning immune http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif . Since the Ai builds no SCs this is almost everything http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 33

Turn Results
"...Proclomation from Pythium" - Stupid legionnaires!
"...Research complete" - Construction 3
- Kaspus is mine! I think they all just ran from the scary Vampire. Funny as hell. Nice kelp forest there too.
- Disease again.. Damn. I move my army ALL the way home and will have to get me some food bags or something. Annoying.

Empire Status
- 17 provinces
- Income 683 (T 374)

Turn Orders
- Armies run home.
- Super sage makes a pendent of luck.. Queeny could do with one I figure.
- Queeny MOVES to Armavir, that nice rich port.
- 'Nother clam please.
- A sage makes some boots of iron strength. Maybe Queeny will enjoy stomping around in them.
- I order another horror helm. Anything for my girl!

Comments
Bloody disease! Roll on construction 6!

TURN 34

Turn Results
"...Research Complete" - Construction 4
- Armavir is MINEEEEE
- Disease in Starko (home)! Arrggggg! OK, split the army up again! God damn it stop eating you bugger!

Empire Status
- 18 provinces
- Income 715 (T 742)

Turn Orders
- Order a temple where the new fort is
- I order a winged helm. I think 5 air will be good for queeny as I can get those air queen things I hear about.
- Queeny moves SE to the bridge of rushes. A bridge, made out of rushes? Sounds silly! But the gold doesn't!
- I order TWO endless bags of bloody wine. Pissed Mammoths, that's JUST what I want. Well, at least they won't be dying all over the show, although I think now most have various afflictions.
- I order three more of the buggers just for the fun of it.
- Two more sages should help.

Comments
Muddle along. That's the way. Good lad.

TURN 35

Turn Results
"...Research Complete" - Construction 5, w00ty
"...Proclomation from Abysia!" - Hah, i've only lost one prophet!
"...Unexpected event Heavens Hold" - Plague
"...Unexpected event Heavens Hold" - Death gems. See, there's a method to my madness!
- Queeny kicks ***. And I don't know who named that province but WE SAW NO BRIDGE! I think it must be an adversiting ploy. Well, now it will just advertise DEATH and the arrival of Queeny, the blood suckingiest ***** around!

Empire Status
- 19 provinces
- Income 749 (T 392)

Turn Orders
- Queeny flies home for some R&R
- Another clam please. We like shellfish, what can I say!
- Armies and bags and horror helm (I'll give Queeny the other helm) head east to the other fort.
- I order up an anti-magic amulet for my darling.
- A seraph flies to north base to set up a lab. I will need lots of rubbish to cast false horror now. I also figure I might need some stuff to help them like barkskin amulets and whatnot. We'll see what Construction 6 brings us.
- I get two skeleton amulets on order. I figure a skeleton will give the baddies something to shoot at until my guys get off all their false horrors. I also order two command staff things with the added fireball (At no extra cost!) My leaders could do with being USEFUL!
- I order 2 bracers of protection. See above.
- Still got 261 research going on!

Comments
Ok, lets get these false horrors going. Give Queeny a bit more durability and get my army out and moving AGAIN and PROPERLY. At the same time, prepare for some Air Queeny things. Notice a theme?! Yes, I like queens! Say that out loud in some places and you can get beaten up I hear. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 36

Turn Results
"...Proclomation from Man" - Who cares! I will bite thee!
"...Cursing in Starko" - Bloody witch! Queeny is there to deal to her!
"...tax boost in North Sea Kaspus"
"...Starvation in heavens hold" - AARRGG MORE BAGS THEN!

Empire Status
- 19 provinces
- Income 779 (T 826)

Turn Orders
- Queeny makes a Wraith Sword. They are dinky I hear. She can summon a bane lord I see but I'm not sure they are any good! Who knows! Maybe I will bother checking next turn.
- Another clam is ordered.
- Another Bag of Wine is created (3 leaders will be on patrol with that army, the prophet, a general and a wizzard (to control the birdies) so that's all I can take. It better do. I also hope moving the wine bags between two generals (Rather than being on one when they arrived in province) will alleviate the hunger).
- I equip queeny with the winged helm, the strength boots and the luck and antimagic amulets. I consider making earth boots but can't be bothered.
- I order 2 sages
- I order a lab up north
- I'm clearing 322 magic research. Next turn I will move some Seraphs around for some bLasting action. For now, lets rush to.. erm.. what was it? O yeah, construction 6!

TURN 37

Turn Results
"...Unruly Knights" - Bah, the dunwash is taken! Silly me, no PDs.

Empire Status
- 18 provinces
- Income 759 (T 830)

Turn Orders
- Kill kill kill! No unrest in my kingdom! Thats it.
- Queeny flies west to the water with her shiny new sword, hat, etc. She's excited. I can tell because she ate 5 virgin men today instead of her usual 3.
- Dunwash is right next to my new FED army. In Cromwell fashion I call it the New Model Army, but on recollection this is about the 4th time i've built it so it is the New New New Model Army. N3MA as I like to tell people. GO GET 'EM BOYS! Don't forget your rods! And dress up warm, there's a dear! (and the false horrors, hehehe. Good one magey!).
- I order another clam
- I send 3 seraphs north to my closest fort from home so they can false horror their way around the Nth and NE. At that fort I order some chaff.
- I order a missile of amulet protection for the north seraph who just finished a lab. He will join the other three in indie bashing.
- I order two more high seraphs
- I adjust research so I get construction 6 and continue with conjuration.

TURN 38

Turn Results
"...Research Complete" - Construction 6! woo!
- Queeny stomps her way around underwater without a hitch.
- N3MA stomps, zaps, scares and flaps its way through 15 units without loss. Next! Good one!

Empire Status
- 20 provinces
- Income 789 (T 732)

Turn Orders
- Queeny, go west and put the hurt on 100 barbarians. Show 'em your shiny teeth!
- N3MA go North again and pillage your way to Rome.. or some equivelant goal.
- Strike Force False horror heads NE from the fort with another High Seraph coming down from the far north fort. They have around a dozen light inf chaff.. and all they will do is cast FH. I think about mistform.. but decide they will be fine with their trinkets and my blasse attitude!
- Clam
- Super Sage makes his astral hat. Cute.

Comments

Re: AAR: The Caelum Confessional

TURN 39

Turn Results
"...Research Complete" - Conjuration 6
"...Naughty Witch" - some steps somewhere
- Queeny slaughters eighty-odd barbarians. I think less of her as a cute goth girl and more as a wind up kiling machine. Point her at a province and say 'sick-em!' and she slaughters all in her path. She has now got her 5th Star and has killed FOUR HUNDRED AND THIRTY THREE baddies. Not bad!
- N3MA takes some bog somewhere with a handfull of casualties (a couple or three stuffed Mammoths as far as I can tell). One of my commanders sets a mammoth on fire. It doesn't seem to mind. This I am surprised at going by their previous performance).
- Strike Force False Horror (SFFH) saw off 63 assorted infantry but lost some half dozen of its own infantry. I figure I can better organise their magic (quickness to start with) and do even betterer next time. However, this is a promising start!

Empire Status
- 23 provinces
- Income 848 (T 1205)

Turn Orders
- With 110 or so Astrals I am pleased! Super Sage casts Achasic Record on Heaven's Hold Mountains. The map has a castle and a star there (well, I -think- it is in that province, it's hard to tell) so maybe I will get some juicy goodies! I'm happy either way, I love searching!).
- N3MA goes around the mountains to the SE to continue destructionising.
- 2 sages and 3 high seraphs ordered. Hard research.. can never have too many researcherers.
- TFFH are ordered North to some random indie province (Where are the AI's by the way! Still no sign of them but the odd bit of dominion! I'd send out my scout but i'll run over 'em eventually I figure). I re-jigg them all to cast quickness and then a lot of False Horrors. Wish I could remember how to 'bookmark' spell casting sets. Did it manually.
- Quenny flips a coin and decides people to the NW want to be deaded. Can't really stop her, she's on a roll now.
- I order up a dozen miltia in the mid-north province. I'll need more chaff soon I am sure.

Point the mouse on the spellscript , then ctrl + a number .
Point the mouse on an empty spellscript list and just use the number you chose and voila you copied your bookmarked spell casting set http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
