OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
No warning at all. Fire Fox just crapped out. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Locked up while doing the Gmail log on and now just gives errors.
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Even after a reboot. |
Re: OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
My firefox hasn't been able to log onto gmail for a couple of weeks now. For me it's not that big a deal since I get my mail with thunderbird but it is something that needs to be looked into.
The only other problem I've ever run into with firefox is that I can't accept players for my PBW games, I have to use ie to do it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif |

Re: OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
I suggest you uninstall and install Mozilla instead. It works fine. Actually it works Great! Firefox is for those people that have a 'Need' for bleeding edge new fangled software that is the 'Latest-greatest' incarnation of whatever. Problem is that bleeding edge is not always the 'greatest' and often has problems. Mozilla works fantastic for me, so It is beyond my comprehension why I should 'upgrade' to firefox when I see no major difference. (based on my standard use of the program)

Re: OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
Firefox has no more problems than Mozilla itself does... No reason to switch to Mozilla now.

Re: OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
It's not that big a deal, just report the error and wait for the fix. For me the additional features and customization options are worth putting up with minor errors.

Re: OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
Hey if it's serious why not read this page and see if you can be bothered to report it.
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/bugs After all, at least this Company doesn't think Bugs are a "Feature." |
Re: OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
I got it working it again. I had to completely unistall and re-install it.

There really is no reason not to choose Mozilla over Firefox for basic web usage. Myself, I like the weekly builds, so... Firefox. Plus I still have a predjudice about taking up lots of hard drive space from my first computer's 400MB drive back around 1994, and I don't use the rest of the Mozilla suite. I don't need to worry about excess space usage any more (two 40GB drives and a 200GB drive), but it's still there (possibly because of the 20MB limit on my University server account http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
Gmail works fine with my Firefox, both at work and home. Do you have the newest Version of FF? ALso reinstalling it would be a good idea.

Re: OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
It might have just been a windows XP crap out too. God only knows why programs die.
|
Re: OT: FIre Fox just crapped out on me.
I'd blame WinXP. Why? Because I always blame WinXP! :-D Honestly though, Firefox used to crash on me every single time I tried to go to a certain website (daz3d.com, if you're wondering), and kept crashing even after several deletions and re-installs. It was only after I formatted the drive and reinstalled everything that I was able to get to the site again. Ergo, I blame Windows.
Maybe not logical, but fun! |

Fire Fox Questions
Hi!
I using this thread to avoid start a new one for such a small question: I started using Firefox browser I like it, you have to learn its ways (I was using Slim Browser, based on the IE engine). It seems to be more stable, AND I like to give the finger to Micro$oft guys who thinks than any file have to be 100 Mb+ to be of some use!! Questions are: Anyone knows in which folder are stored the bookmarked links? Can this folder be re-imported to the Ie favourites folder? Thanks!! |

It's under your personal folder -- keep digging until you find a folder with a random name -- for example, mine is "Mozilla\default\2vay9rrw.slt" inside it is "bookmarks.html". You could aslo search for that and select the one under the correct directory http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Once you've found it, you can import it into IE. IE has a function called Import/Export for the bookmarks file. |
Re: Fire Fox Questions
You can also just export the bookmarks from Firefox in the Bookmarks Manager.
The weird folder name is to make it more difficult for script kiddie viruses/exploits to work. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |

Re: Fire Fox Questions
We switched over to Firefox a few weeks ago and have been pretty happy with it.

Re: Fire Fox Questions
I don't know if it can be imported back to internet explorer, but I would sppose that it has to be possible. Personally, the microsoft favorite's folder is the least favorite part of IE for me. In any Version of netscape, by bookmarks are maybe in the area of 100-120k. Take that over to IE and it's ten times that with the same number of links.
The only thing I prefer about IE is it's handling of table borders. But after that... Well if I could uninstall.... |
