Very nice. I tip my hat to you, sir. Kinda remind me of the Psylons <sp?> off BattleStar Galactica. More so the remake of the series than the original though...

Prett kewl. I like them alot, some of them remind of the Narn (B5) vessels. Quite good one. Add a few more glowpoints http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Nice. Very clean set.

Re: I\'m Working On A New Ship Set

I always liked the "jagged" shipsets. The "sharp" ones...wicked looking. Though I hate to offer critique (since I don't make any), I'd suggest an additional "minority" color. Perhaps some "hi-lites" in a darker grey or a blood red. Striping, or sorts.

LOL...perhaps THIS is what one does at 4:00 a.m. in the morning. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I like the shape and such, but I think they look a bit bland from the texture. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif But that's ok, Looking at the other two shipsets you're making I'm pleased with your current work http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

for those who don't check NASY often you should. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

This thread's title can be sung to the tune of "White Christmas".

Now someone has to write the rest of the verse.

They are very loosely based on a narn design. Odd how you would recognize them. I am impressed.

Robots with very dry senses of humour.

These robots kill bad guys only. Therefore they're are good and peaceful.

What do you use to draw these?

A program named DOGA. http://www.doga.co.jp/english/

There are a few download links, if they are still good, in the New Members Look Here threat at the top of the forum.

For this set I have reserved the privlage of nameing it to the one of the many people who donated to help keep AST and NASY sites on line for this year. The winner has been chosen and he has been PM'ed.

So hopefully within a few days the set will have a name. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

In the mean time keep checking back to see the progress of it. Also I am working on two other sets, Race 2 and Race 3. These sets are in the very early stages of development and I am working on them as I have time and interest.

Normally once I have a general concept down I can finish a set within a few hours, but lately I just have not had the motivation to create. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif However, I did add the base images to Race 3 today. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: I\'m Working On A New Ship Set

I just did a major update to Race 3. and finsihed off most of the set. There are still 8 ships that I have not done yet, but I will get to them when I have time.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Ohhhh, black ships in the sky! I remember this set from monumental "Last line" picture. Very good set (except the race portrait, which reminds me a ... well nevermind).

Race set 3 looks great, but where is the purple jellybean accelerator canon?

Did you use purple M&M's again?

I am not happy with the RP either, but it is the best I can at this time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I will most likely change it before the set is released.

I agree that the Race Portrait is cheesey, but the ships are very nice! The sense of a single unifying design philosophy is strongly felt but it's fairly easy to distinguish the different classes, and they all look 'sleek' or 'graceful' like you want SciFi ships to look. I'd like to see this design set modeled for SE V, along with that 'wedge' shaped imperial set from a few weeks/months ago.

Atrocities January 1st, 2005 08:35 PM

Re: I\'m Working On A New Ship Set

Thank you all for the comments.

That imperial wedge set is actualy done. It was completed as a private set for a member of the forum. He gave me all the back story info for the set, but I lost the models when the comp crashed. I might have them on disk, but finding the right disk is the problem.

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Race portraits are proving to be most difficult. And this set has the highest polygon count per model of any of my sets. The Dreadnought alone has over 100,000 polygons. Now that is detail. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Rendering the Troop Infantry image took nearly five minutes.

And yes, trees in the weapon platform give it a planet side feel that was lacking IMHO. I hope they are liked.

Unless you happen to be making races like mine, in which case the weapon platforms are underwater. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: I\'m Working On A New Ship Set

David had a good idea for weapon platforms. Floating platforms above the clouds on repulser platforms or long poles. Very inovative idea IYAM.

Re: I\'m Working On A New Ship Set

Ok, I have redone the race Portrait. In my humble opinion, it is a hell of a lot better than the old one.

(The best I can do given my limited skill.)

Race 3 (Not Yet Named)

Re: I\'m Working On A New Ship Set

Incredible....Incredible...

The Only downside is the polygon count, that Juggernought would be my ship of choice in Starfury http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif I love this set though.

Atrocities January 2nd, 2005 08:57 AM

Re: I\'m Working On A New Ship Set

If you can get the count down to a usable level, I will be happy to license the model for your use. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
