Ship Renders

I played around with Lightwave some, and got this ship. I may make more ships like this one, and make it into a shipset. What do you think of it?

Its an escort... Its an ellipsoid, with two engines attached near the sides. It also has nice windows on the sides from crew quarters, and a nice bridge. As well as 2 weapon holes. Maybe I could make the windows illuminated...

Here we go. Some nice engine glow, windows glow now, and we got 3 distant lights shining on it, instead of only one, and spread out a little.

Maybe you should add some sort of orifice at the lower nose. It looks like a shark now, with the "gills", and I think that you should explore that aspect further.
Or you could focus more on the exhaust pipes, chrome them, make them bigger, twistier, etc. You could make DNs and BSs with massive arrays of immense twisting exhausts. Anyway, lookin' good. |

Those aren't exaust pipes, those are the engines... And it has two torpedo tubes at the front.

The engines, OK... but they look a little like massive truck exhaust pipes. And you don't really see the torpedo bays.

It reminds me of the ship that the Robinson family used in the Lost In Space movie. I think it was called the Jupiter 2, though I may be way off base.

You could make the engine openings face inwards and get narrower to the ends. If you have a narrow opening, stuff flows throught it faster than through wide openings, so having a ship with narrowing engine openings would give it better speed/acceleration.

Its facing away so blasts won't affect the hangar on the rear. The real reason is that the polygons I extruded it from was slanted that way... I could just knife the engines to make it straight, but really don't want to.

I used a lens flare at the tip of the turret to have the emitter. Was wanting to have a bit of irregularity in the beam...

Those pics you attached are black squares with a small smear of blue.
You need light on those ships. That is by far the biggest problem with the pics. They're lit like a B-rated horror movie. What I can see of the modelling is pretty good. The problem is I can't see the ship. |
