Question on fleets

Hi everybody,

I'm new to the forum, although I've been lurking for a long time. Got a question that's been bugging me for a while and I hope somebody can help me out with this:

Is it possible to create a fleet that contains one or more other fleets? Or group fleets in some other way?

E.g. if I have 2 fleets converging on an enemy fleet, I'd like to combine them, do battle and then when it's all finished, let them be on their own ways without manually splitting them up again.

Any thoughts?

Re: Question on fleets

You can't group fleets. If you shift-click them both and give a move order they will move together, but this is somewhat dangerous because they don't always arrive at the same time.

Re: Question on fleets

Btw, welcome to the forum!

Re: Question on fleets

Shift-clicking the fleets will make them move the same speed and direction for one turn.
If one fleet is faster, then it will have some movement left unused at the end of the turn.

Both fleets will attack together too. You merely need to have the fleets meet at a staging point where you can shift-click and then give orders to attack together.

Thanks for the advice. Not really what I was looking for, but still it's useful.

Why set your goals so low?! You must be more ambitious then that! You and your duckie need to have the desire to take over the universe! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif

The UNIVERSE?!? Pah! I almost have pity with this tiny creature. I subject entire DIMENSIONS at a time! The only reason why I haven't taken this one over is because I like you guys!

Yes, I hace alway manipulated StrategiaInUltima. He think he rule over entire plan but he does only MY will. And I had enough well cloaked plans filled with baseship and troop to overwhelm him if he want to rebel.

Baseships?!?!? Ah, the tiny little minds that inhabit this universe..... my COMCAs far outweigh your microscopic "warships". I mean, 1500kT?!? Pah! That's around a Destroyer for me..... and my COMCAs weigh in at 25MT, so.....

Also, your "troops" are unbelievably inferior to my superb armies, with the Heavy Armor sections and the Artillery sections.....

Looks like even an evil duckie can learn something new from time to time...

Quack quackerdequack quack quack MWAHWUAHWUAHWUAHWUAHWUAH.....

(translation: Indeed. You should also try some of the excellent mods for SEIV. Not that I'm trying to promote myself here as the current versions of both my mods are NOT playable, but to point you to such jewels as Proportions, P&N, Adamant, STM, etc.)

Re: Question on fleets

Actually, I'm mainly playing UltimateVehicleSize and Proportions. Haven't played stock SE4 in well over a year I think. I also want to give P&N a try.

Yes, yes. You are the boss. I'm sure all your officier are loyal only to you. And your self-destruct devices are indeed very sure.
