The Galactic Conquest Mod
We should have posted information about our Mod 1 year ago. We had planned on a beta by now, but due to the loss of data from a HD crash we are not close to a beta now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/stupid.gif
The Galactic Conquest Mod is telling a story as well as providing a nice game experience we hope. It is about reckless Humans finally being able to colonize the galaxy, with 6-8 human races acting like all humans in history, making wars over resources and real estate, etc. The races are fictional, however they are based on real countries today. We attempted to predict who the world powers may be in the next 100 years and used this as a base for our human races. Of course I forgot to mention the alien races will be unique and different as possible. We will be using some races from other games, moo series, galciv, homeworld, and a few others. There will be a mega evil race, along with a variety of races covering the possible life forms. We did hope to create brand new shipsets for all races. Due to the loss of data we will instead use some shipsets made by others until we can finish them. The plans are new shipsets and races, components, planets, nebulas, Milky Way star names, new traits, and we hope some unique features by combining several ideas into our Mod. You do not like our idea for a mod, tell us that as well. Sounds pretty interesting. Then again, wouldnt SEV be better suited, since it can be scripted and story-things could be more easily implented ? However, im looking forward to more information. Will take a look at the site shortly.

No mod can really compete with TDM without being TDM... It is in a class by itself: a mod that just aims to provide the best AIs for the stock game environment.

Purrhaps TDMishly fiendish AI will be utilized for this mod.....
Oh and thnx for the link to the other forum. The fighter pics gave me inspiration for Capship fighters, currently redoing it in the same manner as I redid GC. You'll be using interceptors, space superiority fighters, bombers, fighterbombers etc. in the finished version. |

Those ships are extremely good. I'd use them even without the Mod, although I am saying that without seeing any of the Mod.

Yes, I don't think I'll use any of the pics (as I don't do the shipsets) but they look very good.

US ships are clearly Liberty Dreadnoughts redesigned and liberty fighters http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif mainly by the looks the Defender class but they are definately nice looking ships especially when you get their textures on!

Yes the propulsion system has roughly been designed, we're going to try and make it like the QNP scheme
Yes the warships are based on liberty dreadnoughts, but the fighter got just as much Anubis in them as Defender http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif I agree that the models colouration is rather basic and that needs some reworking |

Let me try to answer all things in this one post!
Strategia_In_Ultima - The ETA was set way back due to loosing almost all of our data. Something like this happened with Atrocities also I think. We have another person on our team who is helping us out now. He is a new to SEIV but is picking it up real fast. He is one of the top modders for Galciv and is also top ranked player. (uh oh mentioning that game I may get whacked http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif) We are hoping to get a beta out just before SEV comes out. The plans are to finish this one completely, then convert it to SEV and expand on the ideas we have that is not currently possible with SEIV. Icho Tolot is our other Mod Partner. We could use more help if anyone wants to lend their expertise. Most of you are beta testing so I doubt will be the least bit interested in helping. Our plan is to use exsisting races in place of the ones we plans to create and use our shipsets until our Races are done. We have around 14 new races to add I think. Thanks Captain Kwok for promoting our website. What we really need is someone who is skilled in making total conversion Mods. We are changing every aspect of the game we can. Hopefully you will see a beta of the Mod in a few months now. Was also trying to put the Mod together because her partner has yet to make time to read all the manuals. I know some things about modding but not that much. Randallw - Thanks and I promise you the Mod will be just as good as the ships look. We do intend on using the AI from TDM and many parts from other mods. Hey Strategia_In_Ultima, we could use some help on our Mod. Be cool if you offered some advice like you did in this thread. We are at a point where we need to work on the AI files. Of course we have no intention of competing with any Mod out there. Including the best parts of many Mods and our own things is our goal. Parts of TDM will be used, the Mod is pretty much based off the Proportions Mod to be honest. Ragnarok-X - Your correct and I did mention our intent of converting it to SEV asap. Icho Tolot is our story write and data files editor. He has ideas that SEIV is not able to do, so we will not only convert this Mod to SEV we will be adding a buttload of things to it. We hope this Mod will be a success but with only 3 of us working it will be some time before we finish it. Probably another 1-2 years at least. There are a lot of Mods out there now that has much more features then ours does. Our only problem is the lack of help with the mod. We have nice SEIV forums at my site but only a handful of you have signed up.
