Someone built a mecha. No joke. No fake.

I'm just sitting here grinning. It's only three meters tall and it doesn't move very well, but it's an actual mecha!

I think you people are expecting to much for the first mecha. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Thanks for that. I sent the link to my wife saying "I found your birthday present". She is big mech player. One of the reasons I wanted someone to draw a "fem" version. So I can put it on Tshirts and mugs with sayings like..
"does this suit make my butt look phat?"
and
"thats MISS Mech Warrior to you!"
and finally...
"yeah but 3 days a month I totally rule the arenas"

Now I know for sure that some people have too much time on their hands...

I hope he starts selling them. Then we can pilot a mecha instead of driving a car.

My links not a mech exactly but it is the start of power armour, and as RIFTS fans know from power armour you can progress to mechs.

And at 1.5 kilometers an hour (a little under 1 mph, if I recall my conversions correctly), you'll never need to worry about getting a speeding ticket again! (Obstruction of traffic, maybe)

Oooh I want one of those..... let's open a mutual bank account for all forum members into which we can pool our resources, then we can all buy one and conquer a modest nation for ourselves..... Phong Nation, anyone?

Looks dreadfully unstable. Give it a good push and you could tip it over. Not really something I'd want to use to carve out a nation for myself.

Re: Someone built a mecha. No joke. No fake.

Nobody COULD tip it over. As soon as they get near, they'd be under fire from 2 different kinds of weapons.

No, we'll let them develop the design a bit further, and THEN we'll use them to carve out a nation dedicated to SEIV, SEV and Malfador.....

Two weapons, which, from watching the video, appear to be highly inaccurate pingpong ball launchers. All it takes is one hobo with a trash-can lid shield and it's all over. It's still bloody impressive, though, but I think it's a good few decades from being able to dominate anything larger than the neighbourhood pets.

/me slaps his forehead.....

Well you gotta outfit the bloody thing with REAL ammo then! Rockets in the 6-barreled rotary launcher, a machine gun on the other side, and voila! You can use it to kill people!

Re: Someone built a mecha. No joke. No fake.

And nine inch nails and 20ft flame burst can't? I'm going with Canada's finest exo-suit power armour type thing, at least that has the weapons already integrated.

When can I purchase a Wing Gundam to fly around in?

Strategia_In_Ultima April 8th, 2005 06:51 AM

Re: Someone built a mecha. No joke. No fake.

Oh, simply add rocket boosters and a pair of wings to the thing and it'll fly.

Raging Deadstar April 8th, 2005 07:48 AM

Re: Someone built a mecha. No joke. No fake.

I'm thinking it wouldn't fly...

More "Falling, With Style!" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Though considering the weight and size of those things maybe "Plummeting" would be more apt.

Strategia_In_Ultima April 8th, 2005 08:48 AM

Re: Someone built a mecha. No joke. No fake.

Or perhaps it would be more like "falling the way a 1000km meteor does".

Well, if the rocket boosters you attach are big anough, and the wings can carry its weight, it can fly - you just can't steer.
