[OT] Micicles.

OK, they're not actually freezing anything, but that should have been the headline anyway.

Clever buggers. And who wouldn't want a hibernated Narf? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

What if, on a long space journey, you never woke up? The computers controlling the mixture forgot to turn that hydrogen sulfide off. Eventually, it returns to normal, but you're floating somewhere near Alpha Centari...

Simple, have the hibernation unit's hydrogen sulfide tank be manually changed. Each tank only holds enough for one leg of the trip. So even if the computer forgets to turn it off, the tank would simply run out and they astronaunts would wake up. For the trip home simply change the tank and be ready to go. It'd run once again, shortly before reaching earth.

/me watches as Narf is being taken to a hibernation facility. /Me could pull out any weapon to help, but they've all been damaged by the Budweiser Phil dropped him in. Sorry, Narf http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif been nice knowing you. Spread the knowledge of SEIV in the thirty-first century for everyone here, will you?

We've got no choices. I mean we haven't got any handy monkeys around here so it's got to be a mouse. I really wish I could help, but my hands are tied.

Not literally of course, that would clearly be silly. Don't worry we've got the finest quality cheeses waiting for you when you wake up at the other end. I just hope the fridge has enough battery power.....

Don't worry, it's a Sony. They say their batteries last a lifeti--- oh, wait, gotta recharge the battery. Be right back http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

* A random glitch causes the Murphy's Law to launch a tactical anti-matter strike at Narf's location.

...Sensing the single error in such an action, it quickly teleports Narf to the bridge.

Nice knowing you guys.

Re: [OT] Micicles.

"It's been nice knowing you too Narf." Strategia replies as the antimatter cannon misfires.

Pretty lights.

Meanwhile, in a yard at the very edge of infinity (the far edge, mind you, not the near edge,), work has begun on the Murphy's Law [insert roman numeral here]. The yard operates on a simple premise; they build a Murphy's Law, and start on the next one as it leaves the dock.

Re: [OT] Micicles.

Quite incorect. As the firing of the antimatter cannon was the result of a misfire, it cannot then misfire.

And all the Murphy's Law planatiods were built by Narf.

He is a mad scientist, you know. Plot convenience let's him build all sorts of things. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

That works if the Hydrogen Sulfide gets decays while it is in use. It doesn't work if it is required to actually be removed from the environment.

I stand corrected. I guess I misunderstood how the process works. Oh well, anyone else have any bright ideas?

Re: [OT] Micicles.

Just make the system leaky?

So the tank gets used up to replace the stuff in your capsule as it leaks out and gets absorbed by the ship's filters.

When the tank runs out, the remaining gas leaks away, and you're left with the a nice nitrogen/oxy atmosphere.

PS:
Hehe, everything is better leaky! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

If they can get this suspended animation to work for humans, I could deposit, say, $100 in the bank and then stay in stasis for 1000 years and then wake up a rich man. On second thought, this probably won't work because of inflation and service charges.

Ah... but he isn't failing! He secretly conquered the world quite some time ago and is now quietly foiling other would-be conqueror's plans; he just stays near Brain because Brain is the most prolific of would-be conqueror's.
