New Shahrivar game, not on Mosehansen
 

Thought some people might want to try a multiplayer game on this handsome new map. It's using the map designer's victory point conditions, set to 25 hour quickhost*, independent strength 7, normal research, etc. Looking for 7-9 players, which all have to be land nations because of the map.

* 25 Hour QH : Will be slowed down to 49 hour or some such as the game progresses and people want it.

Server information is benatar.snurgle.org port 2001 - thanks to Ironhawk for helping with hosting.

Maybe you can solve the issue by uploading the mods personally and naming them correctly like Zens Pretender 2.2 etc. then you know which versions you use.
It has been a while since i hosted a mosehansen game though so what i suggested could be impossible and i have it only wrong in memory http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Yeah - problem is that you can upload maps, but not mods (presumably on the theory that maps can be trusted, but mods can't be).

It is a beautiful map Pasha and I would join if I knew the exact situation of the game. Like is it going to be on mose server with no mods still or going to be on ironhawks friends server with mods and which ones. I really like the zen mods and dont like playing vanilla dominions anymore.

Hmmm... well... I did not start this thread, and perhaps, Cainehill could comment.

It sounds good to me to play with the mods, and if Ironhawk can work out an alternate hosting, I am game!!

Did I mention that I think the map is reall, really pretty?

While I appreciate Ironhawk's offer, I'm inclined to try and leave the game on mosehansen. Having the mods would be nice, but having the mosehansen web interface is great also - players being able to check on turn status, and the game owner being able to change hosting schedules as needed, etc.

My intention is to play, but I hadn't dowloaded the map yet, and on my anchronistic dial-up connection, its about a 4 hour download http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I should also play a quickie test game or two to have some sort of feel for the map and conditions, so I probably can't be ready before tomorrow. If you get enough players today, and want to start without me, please do so.

Go to Mosehansen's site, here: https://www.mosehansen.dk/cgi-bin/dom2.pl

Then find the game in Open games, and snatch the port number. You will then need to launch Dominions and to go in the network screen; www.mosehansen.dk should for for an IP, and the port number will be displayed on the game page.

Create a Pretender for an unclaimed nation as usual, connect to the server, and upload your Pretender. Do *not* hit "Start the game", and disconnect instead. Then you should register on Mosehansen, and confess that you are playing one of the anonymous nations.

Problem starting it. Every time I connect and tell it to start the game, it crashes (Nagot etc) and goes into stopped status. Restart, reconnect, etc, the same thing happens. I sent Esben an email this morning asking if he could look into it.

I'm wondering if someone uploaded a pretender using mods, or if the map got installed wrong there or whatnot.

Yep. Presuming Ironhawk is still amenable, barring some reply from Esben, I'm proposing restarting on the server Ironhawk has, with Zen's latest mods, findable as follows :

Spells 1.8
Scales 1.2
Pretenders 2.2
Items 1.0

Create a new pretender for the nation you already took with these mods turned on ( or at least the pretender mod - pretty sure the others affect gameplay and not pretender creation ).

When I hear from Ironhawk, I'll send the host IP / port and hopefully we can finally get started this weekend.

Presuming we can get the game going, no problems with that. I've asked Truper if he might have the inclination and time to get with Ironhawk to discuss setting the game up, as currently I don't really have the time to organize one that isn't on mosehansen, and mose isn't working.

Apparently it was something that went wrong with the map getting installed on mosehansen. Since it'd been three days without hearing back from Esben, I killed and buried the game and tried creating some new ones to test. Everything crashes with Shahrivar, but started okay with Aran, so...

Tested the map I uploaded locally and it's just fine, so I'm guessing the mosehansen scripts probably didn't isntall the map files in the proper directory there.

I should be able to get together with Ironhawk over the weekend to get the game set up. I'll post the details here when I have them.

Oddly some board functions don't seem to work from my work computer - including sending/responding to PMs, but I'll take care of things when I get home tonight.

As far as where to upload, we haven't worked out the details of the server and hosting as yet. When it's resolved, probably this weekend, they'll be posted.

11 might be a bit high for Shahrivar, but - I did initiate another new game on mosehansen using Zen's tweaked version of Jason Lutes' Cradle map. Look for Paradise Lost in the open games.

Okay, server is up and running at benatar.snurgle.org port 2001. It's running all Zen's latest mods, indies 6, HoF 15, magic sites 50, renaming on.

Please take the nations you had on mosehansen, after making a new pretender using in particular Zen's Pretender 2.2.
