gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
Hey,
finally a gameplay question. Im so tired of all the OTs in here. Now here is it: I have a system in my space which is full of asteroid belts, nothing else apart from a few empty sector. Now is send a few planet-creators there, and guess what ? It reads cant create planets because no star is present. This is pretty stupid. What do i have do in order to terraform the system ? I think i cant create a star as well... |
Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
Can't create a star? That's odd; the only reason you can't create a star is if there's a star, ringworld, or sphereworld already in the system... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
It isn't stupid. Planets are not livable without stars. They are just dead hunks of rock (and ice) without a strong centralized source of gravity. No heat, no light, no tectonics, etc. You can mine them, but that is about all. That is represented by remote miners.
Have you tried creating a star? Unless the system is marked as a nebulae or black hole base type, you can create a star in it if there is not one present. |

Has anyone ever noticed that asteroids have all of teh same stats as a planet, yet you cannont set up colonies on them??? It would be cool if you could set up mining colonies or military outposts in an asteroid belt.

Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
Okay, to sum it up i need to build a star-creation vessel, form a star, and then i can create planets, is this right ?
|
Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
Yes, that would be the only course of action available if you didn't want to just remote-mine it.

Perhaps (hopefully) it'll be available in SEV again.....

Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
You can remote mine a system with no colonized planet in it?
Guess I never tried but I had assumed that the resources would go uhh nowhere. |
Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
It works fine indeed.

Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
Spaceports are only for resource/etc points generated by colonies. You can remote mine a system with two dozen enemy spaceports and still the resources will go to your stockpiles.
And btw, how else would you think P&N Nomad players get their resources? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
With immense difficulty! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
No, no, I'm pretty sure the immense difficulty was there before the resources came.

Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
Sorry for bumping. In the game i mentioned i just now aquired the technology to create Stars. The component reads it can create stars out of systemsized nebulas though. The system i mentioned is empty apart from lots of Asteroid-Sectors.
Will it work ? Using a starcreation device ? |
Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
Yeah, star creation will work even in systems without nebulas. (I wonder if it even works in systems WITH nebulas!)
|
Re: gameplay question ! for real ! here ! :)
Yep it does work in systems with or without nebulae. The only thing that stops star creation in a system is if there's another star in the system.

A system shield needs to be built on a planet, which meens you need a star in the system already, so you couldnt build another. I don't think there is any way around that.
Hidding a sphere world in a nebula is Fun. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
