A question to SEV beta testers
I know you can't violate the NDA, but I just saw the latest screenshots and...
Am I gonna like se5 as much as I think I am? |
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
How the heck should they know what you like. But to answer prematurely: "Hell yes!!"
Be patient... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif |
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
It has all the best elements and fixes things that were not so good in Space Empires IV, plus it has true 3D graphics and is even more moddable... so what do you think?
The only reason why you might not enjoy it as much is that you've been playing Space Empires for the last 5 years so the type of the game may not be as fresh. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
So play Battle for Wesnoth (www.wesnoth.org) for a while and pretend that space doesn't even exist! Then you'll be ready for when SE5 comes out! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
And...it's...set in SPACE!
|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
I have it on good authority from one of the beta testers that there will be TWICE as much nudity in SE5 than there was in SE4.
To protect the person's identity, i wont mention names. |
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Are you sure he didn't say THRICE as much?http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif Or is it both? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Considering that very few of the ALIENS appeared with any sort of clothing in SE4, and the Jraenar pic from SE5 shows him wearing some sort of shawl, somehow I doubt that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Oh its true!
|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Hey, why aren't the EEE wearing any clothes! How indecent...
|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
I suppose next you'll tell us there'll be spaceships!
|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Actually no. All of the aliens fly around in Winnibegos and Escalades.

Are there any technological terrors we can proudly construct with the ability to destroy planets?

I am still waiting for the space cows with plasma udders. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Nice pic dogscoff, but don't you think the guns need a second 'strap' to help keep the barrel aligned? As is I think the the guns would eventually hang low in the front. Also there should be a horizontal strap around the front breast of the 'worthogish-bovine' to help keep the guns in place after the recoil.
then again, if everything is weightless in space it might not need more straps at all, you could also be using 'velcro' to hold it in place, hard to tell from this angle. Oh well, it's still a nice pic, and if you chop off the head it would make a nice race portrait. Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Maybe weightless but there's still reaction. Newton's 3rd law and all that. So unless the guns fire zero kinetic energy rounds there will be recoil, hence the need for more straps.
El Phil waits patiently for this physics to be torn apart |

Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Woot! More screenshots for SEIV! It looks like even the ship designs are getting more attention than they did in Starfury.
One by one over the last 2 years every single video/computer game I've looked forward to has built me up, then dropped me like a rock. Its been brutal to be me. I used to have a video game addiction, now I can't even work up enough interest to play a game when I have time to play one. Its SO depressing... Save me SE5!!! |

What did you make that in?

Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Admittedly I rarely read the descripts. But that stil wouldnt have put "cows" in my impression from that head. Maybe hogs, or something rhinocerous looking. Still it is a great picture
|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Narf: Hand drawn in Paintshop Pro, if memory serves correctly. (although the head, obviously, is cut&pasted from the game's files)
Didn't even use my artpad & pen for that one either, I'm pretty sure it was a mouse job. I also did ones for the Zynarra and Bobrobans - http://www.dogscoff.co.uk/propresp.htm |
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Hand-drawn? Ever considered going professional?
|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
OK, next time I encounter the Texrak, I'm going to conquer them right away! Need some beef and milk to feed the citizens of my empire...

Also, I don't think there's much of a market for hand-drawn monsters, which seems to be my forte. That said, I have long been thinking about putting a portfolio/gallery on my website, featuring some of my better pictures. Never got round to it though. Thanks for the comment though Narf, that's a real compliment. |
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
Hey Dogscoff:
www.OddThotz.com/CafePress.html Which is way simple and alot of fun. Plus, I have many ideas which are just text and would work much better with some copyrite free images |

Re: A question to SEV beta testers
BTW, I downloaded Wesnoth the other day and it ate up my saturday afternoon quite merrily. Thoroughly recommended to anyone on this forum.
I have a neat idea for a scenario as well... |
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
What is Wesnoth?
|
Re: A question to SEV beta testers
www.wesnoth.org
A really nifty free fantasy/strategy game where you command an army of elves, humans, dwarves, or undead, recruit new units, etc. Your units can even gain levels and become other types of units! |
