Having problem assigning proper id flags to units.

1 Attachment(s)
Hi there.

Im assembling a small scenerio Suadi Arabia vs Mujahadeen
june 2005. Im setting up the Muja side and purchasing Iraqi units(Fanatics) to fight as Mujahadeen. These units will not appear as Mujahadeen units.Instead I get an irrelivant flag to the battle(not even sure what country it is).
I've tried both set captured and set allied and gotten the same results. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Ok The flag in question is Iranian,I had reset the default battle to Isreal vs Iran oct 2005,I just put it back to the default one,Isreal vs Egypt oct 1973. Now the flag appearing when I use "set captured" is egyptian.

Not sure, but I think this happens if you save the scenario and then go back in and purchase more allied/captured stuff later on...

I did what you described...

" Suadi Arabia vs Mujahadeen june 2005. Im setting up the Muja side and purchasing Iraqi units(Fanatics) to fight as Mujahadeen. "

OK, I did that. I then clicked on the Allies button then pressed "set Captured" then selected Iraq and pressed continue then bought some infantry type formations ( you didn't specify what you bought. Next time please do so )

When I deploy them on a map with the ID tags on I see a little black flag with a green crecent and star which is the Muja ID

If you are still haveing problems with this send me the scenario

Hi Don,

In my first post I said what type of units they were.

Fanatics was what they were called in the buy list.

Well you are getting the correct results,I am not.
I get whatever flag is in the right side of default battle.

I attached the files to this post.

You're correct. You did say fanatics. I read that with a different meaning than the formation name

That ID tag was Egypt. IDK how you did it but here it is fixed.

Strange, I loaded the fixed files in and got the same thing again. Meaning when I purchased more units they appeared as egyptians.

Only thing I can think of that I might have done is edit some of the map when it was a scenerio.

I'm going to rebuild it again from scratch and see what happens.

I have had this happen but that was in SPMBT 3.01. Haven't tried to replicate it in WinSPMBT. It happened alot when I was setting up battles for my Island Civil War Multiplayer campaign. I kept getting Indian units when purchasing Russians as GREEN Allies. Maybe I will dig up and old file and see what I can find out.

Skirmisher, you may have seen it in some of those battles. They were usually the ones for the Zone G battles.

I just reloaded it while typing this . I started it up, clicked on BUY for the Muja then ALLIES then when that screen appeared I clicked on SET CAPTURED then selected Iraq then pressed CONTINUE then, when the Iraqi purchase menu appeared I clicked on infantry, then picked "Fanatics" then bought a dozen units. I then clicked DONE then DEPLOY when the next screen appeared and all the "fanatics" are lined up along the east edge with Muja ID tags so it's not the map .

I have NO IDEA what you could be doing that would cause you to get Egyptian ID tags if you follow the steps I just laided down exactly. If you still get Egyptian tags after all that maybe someone else can help you. I've run out of ideas

I did exactly as you said to do. I get iraqi units with eqyptian flags.

The egyptian flag is the right hand selection for default battles. Before ,if you look at the first posts screenshot,I was getting the Irianian flag on the Iraqi units.
When I changed that back to egyptian, then the egyptian flag appeared.
So the anomaly flag I'm seeing here is the same flag as the right hand country in the battle generator(whatever that happens to be)

Hold on....... that attachement you sent with the screen shots did indeed show the Iranian ID tag. When I loaded the sceanrio you sent me I saw *** Egyptian *** ID tags. That may becasue you have done something and saved between the screen shot and the sceanrio. Send a screen shot of what you see when you try to buy now. Just set the game to run windowed at 640x480 and use ALT+PRINTCREEN to make the Screen shot. It will be a smaller attachement

HOORAY!!!!! a break though !!!! ( wild dancing in the steet )

By total co-incidence I had the Muja set up as player 2 THAT'S why the ID tags came up for me.

We'll look into this. The workaround is to ensure the default nations in Game Options are set to the same nations as you want in your sceanrio. In your case Saudis and Muja

If you cant beat em,join em.

I just figured out how to make it work for me. I set the default battle on the start screen to the battle im doing here. Saudi Arabia vs Mujahadeen.June 2005 Now when I buy the stuff from the iraqi oob I get mujahadeen flags, lol.
For some reason this default battle parameter is messing up my flags here, but if I just set it to what i want ,thats what I get. So I can continue editing here. "whew"

The Block party is Cancelled. Nobody brought Beer

Both Andy and I tried this today and everything worked perfectly. I know, I know...... I saw it yesterday and Andy said he thought he saw it a month ago then couldn't reproduce it so wrote it off as imagination.

What this means is there is a specific series of events or combinations of nations or alignment of planets that is causing this and until we can set something up that will reproduce this 100% of the time my advice to anyone building a sceanrio is to ensure the two nations in your game options are set to the same nations you want to build a sceanrio for and you won't have any problems. I will be digging into this further today though as time allows.

Don if you look closely at my post before this one in this thread you will see I clearly provided you with 3 "beer" icons. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Captured was only working when the HQ was created from scratch - ie in a brand new scenario in the editor, or a generated battle. Loaded files already (usually) had an HQ allocated, so set captured was not working for a "re-loaded for new edits scenario" (unless the side in question had no troops bought at all yet! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif , and probably did not work right if you bought captured allies as "own kit" in a campaign for support troops.

Looks fixed.
