OT: London Attacked
Early this morning several bombs rocked London's mass transit system, their version of the subway suffered several explosions on several trains and a double decker bus was blown apart.
Just figured I'd post this here in case you folks look here before you watch the news. |
Re: OT: London Attacked
My wife is currently frantically phoning and emailing everyone she knows in the capital.
I told her there are 10 million ppl in London, and so far 2 confirmed fatalities... (BTW, if I was inclined at the moment, I'd argue that the subway is actually New York's version of London's Underground. The Underground is over a hundred years old, you know, and was the first of it's kind in the world: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Underground) |
Re: OT: London Attacked
Does anyone know if the Great Kat is a Londoner?
|
Re: OT: London Attacked
No, old ironwhiskers lives up near Manchester, which is several hours away by car or train. However, he is NOT a Mancunian, and will severely reprimand anyone who suggests that he is.
I hope the UK can respond to this crisis with the sense and justice we are usually creditted with- ie without passing any more draconian laws, without invading random countries or victimising any particular racial or religious groups. |
Re: OT: London Attacked
Uh oh....I sense a political discussion coming...I'm leaving the room right now...

Re: OT: London Attacked
Let's not turn this into one of those Dogscoff that was a cruel jab and totally unnecessary especially considering the scales involved in death tolls.
We should just leave it that this is a tragedy and not turn this into anything STUPID. |
Re: OT: London Attacked
It wasn't a jab at all. It's how I feel.

Re: OT: London Attacked
And I feel the Irish would seriously argue against your "fair and just" line.....

Re: OT: London Attacked

Quote:
Whether or not abuses of human rights are institutionalised in those British authorities dealing with the troubles is a question I'm not equipped to answer (and I doubt anyone here is) but I'd like to believe that they are not. In any case, those abuses certainly aren't been legislated into the institution - or at least they weren't until Blair passed his 'UK mini-Patriot Act' earlier this year. |
Re: OT: London Attacked
My point was with the "invading random countries" line added to occupying a country against it's will and the ":fair and just" line don't mesh. Doggie you have no more right to act self rightious then we do so get over your ego and stop trying to turn this into a political debate and do what the rest of us do and keep your "feelings" limited to their appropiate threads. now ENOUGH
And I am with Kathilator I offer my condolences to those in the UK who are effected by this. |
