AI Surrender

I have overpowered two computer empire unfortunate enough to evolve in the same system as me, I tore one of them to shreads and after demanding surrender for 10 turns I simply destroyed them. The other I have blockaded and have demanded their surrender, they refused! I don't get it I triple their score I have blockaded their world their helpless, yet they still defy me! WHY??!

Re: AI Surrender

In a thread a bit back about diplomacy, I asked about subjugation treaties and someone mentioned that you need about 600% of the AI's score to get them to submit to a subjugation treaty and 800% to have them surrender. I think he said the values are stored in the politics.txt files for each race so you can probably take a look to find the exact values.

Re: AI Surrender

For most races it is 1000% or 10x their score. For example, take a look at the Abiddon file in pictures\races\Abbidon\Abbidon_AI_Politics.txt

Score Percent To Accept Demand your surrender := 1000

A couple of the races such as the Amon-Krie have a line that looks like this:

Score Percent To Accept Demand your surrender := 5000

So, they require 50!! times their score before they will surrender.

If you asked the Amon-Krie to surrender, even one ship outside that system *might* have been enough to give him a score so that you didn't beat his by fifty times.

Maybe these are "typos" ?? Having 5x/10x the score should be sufficient, shouldn't it??

Nahh. I don't think it is a typo. I think it just makes them like the Klingons who would rather die than surrender.

The "Default_AI_politics.txt" gives '1000', and the agressive/defensive/neutral AIs too ... all Klingons seemingly .. .

IMHO that makes this option mostly useless ..

If you don't like it, you can change the value.

If you set it to 50x score, you avoid the situation where you can get them to surrender very early by blockading their HW in the first few turns.

Because you are a disgusting alien bent on ruthless conquest, that's why! Plus, you obviously want live slaves or you would have glassed them by now. They're calling your bluff. Prepare for a ground assault, commander.

Other options:
1) Demand tribute until they have nothing left to give. Meanwhile build yourself up until you're powerful enough to awe them into submission.
Or, if you're not willing or able to wait, then you can
2) Attack their planet in tactical mode, and wipe it out a little at a time, thus gradually lowering their score until they are ready to listen to reason.

I vote for glassing them. If they haven't surrendered by now they are obviously too stupid to be usefull as slaves. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

You know, there ought to be a way to obtain partial surrender. Send a transport, and say "Anyone who doesn't get on board will die!" Then destroy the idiot hold-outs, and repopulate with the cowards. Like the Dominion did in STDS9. Ah well, maybe in SE V.

Re: AI Surrender

SEV?

No you could do that already - AGAINST A HUMAN OPPONENT - of course.

Giving him a transport - telling him to move his population.

But that would probably mean that the player would lose, if it was his own planet.

Speaking of human opponents, I thoght I did something cool today:
Like the Russians when Hitler was invading - they destroyed their own supplies so that the Germans wouldn't steal their resources and fu*k their wife (*=in respect for all the moralists reading this).

I abandoned three planets as the Cue Cappa was approaching with a HUGE fleet...

...and then it hit me: The AI don't use trooptransports.
