Dont you think that it is quite unrealistic to Syria has Black Eagle? This tank is just technology demonstrator. Krisantema for PLO? They will not get them, maybe Kornets from Syria, but it is questionable that Syria will get away any of these missiles, as they are the only chance to kill Izraeli tanks...

Of cause it's not realistic, but the whole idea of sudden and hugely expensive rearming of the Siria and PLO getting new weapon (and even having Strela-3) considerably less realistic. It's kinde of "what if" alternative reality loosely based on the Putin promise (caused by his complete ignorance in the Middle East situation) to arm PA during his Israel visit. Krisantema for PLO is exacly because Siria have Kornet - to make a difference. BTW I still havn't figured out how to force PLO to use atgm.

Re: A New Middle East

What about give them Rpg-29 instead?

Re: A New Middle East

May be give them Rpg-29 too, but I want to see Krizantema vs Merkava in game. In game Kornet seems can not penetrate Merkava 4 effectivly.

Re: A New Middle East

But, no one knows how effective armor of Merkava Mk4 is.There are only estimates...

Re: A New Middle East

Mk4 looks that it have really strong passive armor,Its turret is well designed without any weakspot. So it is possible that if Leo2A6 has Front turret resistance against HEAT around 150-170,Leclerc same, Mk4 could be in the same region or maybe better as it is much newer tank, and Israeli are well known as leaders in military technology.

Re: A New Middle East

In game I have seen Kornet hit front Merkava 4 turret, it was something like 138 vs 198

Re: A New Middle East

Yep, it seems it have less penetration then Kornet. Looks like there is no russian top-attack ATGM. Give them Swedish Bill ?

Re: A New Middle East

:-D How the Palestinians get them?

Re: A New Middle East

Is Indian Nag TA ATGM more plausible ?

Re: A New Middle East

It is hard to believe they will ever know how to manipulate such a modern weapon. Some Mujahedeens fired Stingers, aiming with wrong end at a plane... Palestinians know how to blow themself at maximum... At the other side is Hisballah, they killed few Merkavas with ambush tactics (Several AT-4 Missiles aimed at the same spot)

Consider who can give what to whom.

From a few years later than today you can assume that your guys will get their hands on a few Javelin ATGMs, since these are being bought by just everyone, including nearby Jordan and Oman, and maybe some rounds can be smuggled out of Iraq, etc...

Probably they can get refurbished ATGMs from Iran, Pakistan, etc., like the Tandem-wathead SACLOS Ra'ad-T or the TOW-2-class Baktar Shikan. Nothing that would kill a Merkava 4 though...

Black Eagle won't go unnoticed since no one has bought them yet. T-90 as much as you like I guess, but Russia openly rearming Syria would lead to a very interesting international situation needing many more new OOBs... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Now I think I remind the Mujahadeen scoring really good hits with stingers, being trained by US operatives, so "aiming with wrong end" seems out of question for weapons in any considerable quantity. Moreover, modern weapons generally are much easier to man than older ones (compare firing a Javelin with an old MCLOS Malutka). Training can be done on the spot and bouhgt like any other service, so don't consider that poorer people are less competent just because they don't have the hardware, this can really sound offensive.
