TCPIP Game - Full
Hi
Map: Aran (Subject to opinions) Players: Tals Ulm Folket Ermor ioticus Arco Ed Kolis Mictlan Reverend Zombie C'tis Folket's Pangea. Ron D Ryleh Turin Caelum Waiting on Gods Ron D Ryleh Server Settings: default (again subject to opinions) 48 hour autohost + quickhost I'm planning on starting a TCPIP game. Map Aran with the default server settings unless others have any thoughts on this. If its Aran then that is around 7 players. I'm a reasonably novice player - although been playing for a while now so i'd recommend novice or intermediate standard. Server will be set to auto host every 48 hours and also quickhost (7 days a week). Server will email all players when a turn is generated. If you are interested, post here with the nation you would like to play and any comments re game/server setup. I will update this front page with the players and game settings. Tals |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
Hello!
I'm new to this forums, I just installed my old copy of the game. I would like to join as Ermor. |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I would like to play as Arco. Would you consider 48 hour auto host instead?
|
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
That doesn't seem unreasonable- my intention is generally we process at least a turn a day (maybe slower over weekends). On that basis you still in?

Hmm, I think I'll join as Mictlan...
|
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I'd like to join as C'tis.
|
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
With 2 players still required, i'm assuming the map is acceptable and the criteria so can you create your Gods once I have 7 players i'll pm you the email address to send them to.

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
What are the rules for the game. And is there some code of conduct?
Are we using any mods in this game? |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I'll reserve a spot for a water nation. Having never played underwater - I will post later which one I've chosen.
|
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
My brother would like to join as well playing R'leyh.

Any mods? We can't design our pretenders until we know what mods we're using http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
Hmm - there are only 11 water provinces - not nearly enough to support both water nations. Any chance your brother could pick something else?

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I vote for no mods. I like the game as is.
|
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I don't care about the mod setup; I'd just like to know... OK, for now I'll submit my pretender using no mods, and if the situation changes I'll change it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
|
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I have posted my pretender without any mods.
I do not see any problems with having to water races on 11 provinces, as they do not have to stay under water. But I guess my brother could be playing pangea instead. |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I'm sorry but my brother backed out. Shall we open the game for a last player then?

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
IŽd like to play.
I feel a strong urge to play Caelum to satisfy my powergaming needs http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif. |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
So I'm not hearing much call for mods. That would be a first for me - I've never played a game without any mods (in my whopping total of 5 games).
One last question - what settings do you plan for indies, sites, etc.? |

In terms of server settings I will be using the default - the only amendment is I will allow renaming. Tals |

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
Please note i'm changing my God to man - hadn't quite appretiated (Ulm was going to be my first visit of that nation) that Ulm was such a negative magic user.
Game maybe up tonight or tomorrow http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Tals |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
Please note game is now up - you should have all received an email to this effect (note the subject should have said sf_aran not oo_aran, other than that it is all correct.
If you didn't receive an email then i've made a type so send me a pm. In addition this email is what you will now receive everytime a turn is generated. Can I remind you all that autohost is set to 48 hours - if there is a problem genning a turn, let me know before hand I can always turn it off on a temporary basis. Tals Tals |

http://ulm.illwinter.com/dom2/Unwise_Banners.zip Would resolve this, but I would need to restart the game. Very early days so we can do this. If everyone votes for a restart then we'll do and load up with unwise and restart otherwise continue on. Tals |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I see no problem as it is. I have never had problems to tell dominions apart.

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
Nope, turn was genned and we are now on Turn 2 so you need to do the next turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I'd suggest re choosing your race and you can then do your turn. Loosing which race you are (which I think you are saying http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ) - you should have an sf_aran directory in your dom 2 directory with a .turn and .2h file in it. I think this is how it remembers what race you are. It doesn't matter though - reselecting it doesn't lose anything. Tals |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
Please also note all players should have got an email to indicate that the next turn had been genned - if not let me know (still do your next turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif )

Loosing the sf_aran directory is no problem it will recreate it with the appropriate files next time you access - but remeber to check your orders are in place http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Tals |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
Server just needed a reset - if you had probs getting in, note port has changed to 2013 - which is why I sent new instructions to all players
Players outstanding are: Ctis Arco Ermor Tals |

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
OK, I got the email, and it said "new turn generated" but when I went to check, there was no new turn... do I need to do anything or are my orders safe?
|
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
Regarding turns in, if you're not sure i'd suggest checking - the server had an error which stopped it working so I had to reset it. If you have submitted a turn I suspect it will be fine but always worth that check http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
In terms of connecting are you using port 2013 - which has changed. Tals |
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I find that the email arrives a few to several hours after the actual hosting - so you may have already played the turn.
|
Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players
I'm guessing that is an isp problem. The mail server sends direct to the isp's smtp mail. I'm also on the list it sends to and for me its instant - so it could be a yahoo issue.
Waiting on player Arco at the mo. Tals |
