TCPIP Game - Full

Hi

Map: Aran (Subject to opinions)

Players:

Tals Ulm
Folket Ermor
ioticus Arco
Ed Kolis Mictlan
Reverend Zombie C'tis
Folket's Pangea.
Ron D Ryleh
Turin Caelum

Waiting on Gods
Ron D Ryleh

Server Settings: default (again subject to opinions)

48 hour autohost + quickhost

I'm planning on starting a TCPIP game. Map Aran with the default server settings unless others have any thoughts on this. If its Aran then that is around 7 players. I'm a reasonably novice player - although been playing for a while now so i'd recommend novice or intermediate standard.

Server will be set to auto host every 48 hours and also quickhost (7 days a week). Server will email all players when a turn is generated.

If you are interested, post here with the nation you would like to play and any comments re game/server setup. I will update this front page with the players and game settings.

Hello!

I'm new to this forums, I just installed my old copy of the game. I would like to join as Ermor.

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players

I would like to play as Arco. Would you consider 48 hour auto host instead?

That doesn't seem unreasonable- my intention is generally we process at least a turn a day (maybe slower over weekends). On that basis you still in?

With 2 players still required, i'm assuming the map is acceptable and the criteria so can you create your Gods once I have 7 players i'll pm you the email address to send them to.

What are the rules for the game. And is there some code of conduct?

Are we using any mods in this game?

I'll reserve a spot for a water nation. Having never played underwater - I will post later which one I've chosen.

My brother would like to join as well playing R'leyh.

That is fine - except Aran isn't that watery so you may struggle or not - I have no appretiation of water nations to know how big an issue this is.

At the moment no mods - but suggest away and all discuss.

Hmm - there are only 11 water provinces - not nearly enough to support both water nations. Any chance your brother could pick something else?

I have posted my pretender without any mods.

I do not see any problems with having to water races on 11 provinces, as they do not have to stay under water. But I guess my brother could be playing pangea instead.

So I'm not hearing much call for mods. That would be a first for me - I've never played a game without any mods (in my whopping total of 5 games).

One last question - what settings do you plan for indies, sites, etc.?

Not unusual - i'm playing a game at the moment without mods http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

In terms of server settings I will be using the default - the only amendment is I will allow renaming.

Please note game is now up - you should have all received an email to this effect (note the subject should have said sf_aran not oo_aran, other than that it is all correct.

If you didn't receive an email then i've made a type so send me a pm. In addition this email is what you will now receive everytime a turn is generated.

Can I remind you all that autohost is set to 48 hours - if there is a problem genning a turn, let me know before hand I can always turn it off on a temporary basis.

Unwise banners mod http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

http://ulm.illwinter.com/dom2/Unwise_Banners.zip

Would resolve this, but I would need to restart the game. Very early days so we can do this. If everyone votes for a restart then we'll do and load up with unwise and restart otherwise continue on.

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players

Nope, turn was genned and we are now on Turn 2 so you need to do the next turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'd suggest re choosing your race and you can then do your turn. Loosing which race you are (which I think you are saying http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ) - you should have an sf_aran directory in your dom 2 directory with a .turn and .2h file in it. I think this is how it remembers what race you are.

It doesn't matter though - reselecting it doesn't lose anything.

Please also note all players should have got an email to indicate that the next turn had been genned - if not let me know (still do your next turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif )

Yep its something to remember if you use different machine to access the turn server. If you submit on one and check/amend on the other you will loose your instructions. The easy solution is to copy the .2h file between the two machines.

Loosing the sf_aran directory is no problem it will recreate it with the appropriate files next time you access - but remeber to check your orders are in place http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: TCPIP Game - Looking for players

Regarding turns in, if you're not sure i'd suggest checking - the server had an error which stopped it working so I had to reset it. If you have submitted a turn I suspect it will be fine but always worth that check http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

In terms of connecting are you using port 2013 - which has changed.
