Re: Malfador Shuts Down
I most identify with the military look and feel of TOS but just love the ships and style of the TMP era. (Trek Motion Picture)

Re: Malfador Shuts Down

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Though I completely enjoy TOS and the TOS movies I grew up watching TNG so I am partial to that
|
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
"Military look and feel" of TOS? What's military about women in mini-skirts and countless romances with each and every alien by the Captain?

You EVIL EVIL person AT, Shame on you for such deception. :p anyways I like the TMP ships alot, but am more accustomed to TNG

You could no more evade my wrath than you can your own shadow!
|
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Trek. Ugh. I vote for B5.
Oh alright then, put me down for TNG- Mainly for Patrick Stewart & Brent Spiner, who made so much of their roles. TOS was crap, Ent was an abomination. I guess DS9 was OK in places. |

I enjoyed the sleekness of the vehicles in the movies - they seemed to be having more fun with the design.

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
After years of No Trek, I remember watching the first episode of TNG (Encounter at Far Point) thinking "this better be worth the wait and my time." I was not disappointed! Even though I had a cousin who appeared in one episode of TOS (she was the Bridge Bimbo for that episode) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif and watched it religiously, I'm sorry but TNG took it to another level! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Star Wreck? Is it just me or do those 2 guys look like Arnold Rimmer? Especially the guy on the left with the hat...

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Well B5 did nick Checkov from TOS. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
Whilst he was excellent, both the actor and character, I never really got over the shock. I always half expected Bester to start talking in bad Russian. On a topic related note, I just saw DS9 'In The Pale Moonlight.' a few days ago. Damn me that is even better than I remember, possibly one of the best Trek episodes I've ever seen. |
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Bester has got to be one of the coolest recurring villians of any TV series. And unlike with 99% of ST villians, he actually had more than one aspect to his personality. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
|
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
I acctually felt sorry for him a few times. It's nice to see that sometimes, makes you think.
|
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
AT, why didn't you list Voyager there? Not that I would have picked it, but it should still be listed.
I picked TNG as it was, by far, the best of all ST time frames. Picard is one of the best ST captains of all time. |
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Bablyon 5 doesn't show on any channels, so I'm stuck watching farscape.
|
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
I B5 all on tape, minus 2 shows in the 5th season, my daugter got ahold of one tape http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Got the first season on DVD but haven't been able to afford the rest yet. I'll have to Ebay for them when I can now though.

TNG era is before voyager. Voyager and DS9 was made during the same time, I believe.

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
I second the B5 sentiments here. I have all four seasons on DVD , and watch them regularly. I can't think of any major character that didn't shine, and it also produced my all-time favorite throw away line ("I want to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike...")
|
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Yes that was a great line. Especially since it came true. I have five seasons, did you misscount, or miss a season? The last was not on broadcast TV here.
|
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
There was no fifth season. Trust me. It was a vile rumor. It never happened.
There was also no Highlander II, no Star Trek V, and no Alien: Resurrection. Just nightmarish hallucinations. |

They showed a few on the SciFi channel, out of sequence, with many gaps, then stopped. Someday I'll have to get my hands on the DVD's someday. |

Highlander in 30 seconds, and performed by bunnies: http://www.angryalien.com/0905/highlanderbuns.asp
Where would we be without Aaron Williams to find stuff like this for us? |
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
All five seasons of B5 on DVD - $330.00
All B5 movies on DVD - $110.00 All 13 Episodes of Crusader on DVD - $60.00 Being able to watch B5 anytime - Priceless. |
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Yup, that's priceless. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I saw most of Babylon 5 but not entirely in order and I missed some episodes. One day I'll get the complete library and just watch them in sequence, one after another in its entirety. |

And that is morally wrong in so many ways it hurts. Apart from getting lost and then getting home again, fighting a few noncy Borg on the way, what has she done to deserve that promotion?
Hell she was rescued by Q so many times he deserves it far more. |

Re: Malfador Shuts Down
If this was a poll on which series was more enjoyable to watch TNG had Spiner and Steward, as well as Q who was a welcome relief, most of the time. However, from a gameplay point of view, I would enjoy the early explore and expansion phase of the Enterprise era far more than the “Kill all the Klingons” of TOS or the “Let’s be friendly with everyone” of TNG.
|
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Dont forget TOS also had its "Kill the Romulans" episodes. Truthfully I think the Romulans make better enemies then the Klingons.... They are sneakier.
Rasorow Oh, and I think I would be more insterested in something around the time of the Enterprise B... Say after Star Trek VI and before TNG... still rough and wild with enough diplomacy to be ...... treacherous. |
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
I like Klingons. Something about them. Just like Klingons. Not that you'd ever find me dressing up as one at a con or anything
(says while doing repair work on set of stormtrooper armor.) |
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
General Woundwort writes: "There was no fifth season. Trust me. It was a vile rumor. It never happened."
The term "fifth season" refers to that agonizingly prolonged anti-climax that followed the climactic fourth season. Best line of the entire series, delivered by the recently resurrected Sheridan: "I was dead. I'm better now." Unfortunately, the show wasn't. Dead, I mean. Or better. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Second best part of the series: At the climax of the war, the pipsqueak humans tell the mighty Vorlons and Shadows, their superiors by millions of years, to "get the hell out of our galaxy!"--and they GO! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif The best part of the series actually happened BEFORE the show started, apparently just so they could call it "Babylon 5" instead of "Babylon": They said it was *daft* to build a space station in a swamp, but I showed them! It sank unto the swamp. So I built a second space station. That sank into the swamp too. My third space station sank into the swamp. So I built a fourth one. That fell into a time warp and _then_ sank into the swamp. But the fifth one... stayed up! --Monty Python/Babylon 5 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif |
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
TOS is the best,.. period!
TNG? Let's see, Weisly Crusher=Bad, Reiker=Bad, The Doctors=Bad, Tasha=Bad, Q=Stupid, Gynen=Bad, Data=Good, Picard=Good, Worf=Good, Geordi=Good. Result 5 Bad, 4 Good and One Stupid.. At best it fuddled through at mediocer speed. And the fact that the no longer had to 'Blodly go..' due to too many Holodeck episodes is Badx10^6. DS9, Oh god, Now ST totally abandonns the 'Boldly Go,..' for "Come to us,.." Bad idea, bad, bad bad. Voyager, Actually a fair attempt to bring life back into ST. Still too many Holodeck episodes. Best Casting Since TOS. Enterprise, wtf? Piss poor, from the start, changing the opening music bad idea, and bad music to boot. Cast, felt like cardboard paper dolls, the captain's dog acted realistic at least. A series that is supposed to take place before the original and somehow the 'Borg' make an appearence. bad bad bad. Other notes,.. Spock the single best Vulken ever. Have you seen Tuvok? whatch his face it's so emotional it's almost laughable. Anyway, TOS rules the day for ST. just my humble opinion. Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
I watched farscape during a marathon they had. Two whole weeks of back-to-back-to-back... They showed every epsiode, from 8:00 to 4:00, 8 hours of it every day. I missed a few, but most of them I watched...
Now, TNG? I've watched all of those. They show them every day, 3 times a day... so why not watch it? Some of the episodes are good. |

The 5th season of B5 would've been much better if UPN hadn't given jms the run-around. When it appeared to jms that B5 would be cancelled after the 4th season, he stuffed 5th season stuff into the 4th season, so the show could have some closure. This left little material for the 5th season when B5 was picked up by Sci-Fi. Thus, blame B5's bad 5th season on UPN. |
Re: Malfador Shuts Down
Season 5 of B5 was not ran on UPN, it was ran on TNT and it was TNT who gave them the shaft in scheduling.

Well, Chekov was first officer of the USS Reliant... until Khan took it over.
It's OK, he was much better being Bester. |
