OT: Elder Scrolls: IV

The E3 trailer, or most of it, has been released. www.elderscrolls.com.

Best get it before the servers get clogged.

And just let me say: Coooool.

This game is the reason I upgraded my system the last time (ES III: Morrowind) and why I upgraded my system this time.

Re: OT: Elder Scrolls: IV

Morrowind on the Xbox is just huge and awesome... Got the Game of the Year edition, I'd swear there is 2000+ hours of georgous gaming and man those Oblivion screenshots are really, really impressive.

But the story? The hordes of hell are unleashed, yet again??? Whats up with that recurring story in Sci Fi games? You'd think the gates of Hell were not spec'ed out very well, they seem to snap, unleashing hellish minions every few months now into every other Sci Fi game...

What, you expected innovation? Not from this industry, my friend!

Re: OT: Elder Scrolls: IV

Fyron, stop being so pessimistic. Without us, the gaming industry would die. I'm sure that the Elder Scrolls IV will be yet another fine addition to the series, offering award-winning gameplay as well as spectacular graphics.

There's limits as to what you can do with the story for the type of game you are after - if you want to have the player going up against hordes of opponents with a reasonable semblance of a moral high ground, you need: Hordes from Hell, Evil Conquerers, Rampaging Mutants, or the like; there's a fairly sharply limited list of things to choose from for that style of game.

Also, with the number of games, books, and the like out there, EVERYTHING (or nearly so) has been done pretty much to death at some point or another.

Yeah, even in SE5... didn't Aaron say in one of the chats that there would be Sithrak that could be unleashed from a parallel dimension or something... he even hinted at "ancient Malfadorians" controlling them, though he may have been kidding at that point http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Considering how well done the Morrowind storyline is, I'm not worried.

(Look at it this way: 'SE5? What's up with that? Conquering the universe? Havn't we seen that story before?)

Feh look Hordes from Oblivion are not hordes from HELL it's an Alternate dimension AT BEST because we've all fought Dadra before and they are hardly demons from hell http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif if anything they're from a Dinosaur dimension http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Anyway what do you want Hordes of Aliens? Hordes of Angels (cause Angels ain't gonna happen without so many people taking offense it wouldn't be funny).

Oh and I agree with everyone else Morrowind was so well done I don't doubt they'll have any issues here http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Wow, beautiful preview videos. I have never played any of the games in the Elder Scrolls series, but I think I'm going to start! Very impressive. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I'm going to have to buy a new computer though. Right now I'm using an AMD 800 MHz , 512 MB RAM machine and it's getting kind of outdated. Some games run pretty slow. The new games probably won't run at all...

Yay someone got the reference lol http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I actually kinda liked that movie and all heh I mean it was a fun "popcorn flick" definately not something to see for a serious movie heh.

Anyway yeah Dinosaurs turned into Daedra and Dramora and wham bam OBLIVION http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I look foward to this one, I had fun with Morrowind but I got a bit bored after I became invincible and could just pimp slap anyone that got in front of me lol Except for the Her Hands. Regular High Ordinators were not a problem unless they teamed on me lol

A cheaper idea might be an Xbox for $150 (maybe MUCH less when the 360 comes out) and a copy of Morrowind game of the year edition for $30. Thats about 2000+ hours of gaming goodness for under $200.....

Well thats true, its all been done before. I just wonder who built the gates of hell, because they need to be fired. I wouldn't use them to build a deck on the back of a house... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

This will prevent you from playing all those mods, which sucks, and he needed to upgrade for Oblivion and other games anyways.

Re: OT: Elder Scrolls: IV

Will 360 play older X-box games?

Fyron November 1st, 2005 12:50 PM

Re: OT: Elder Scrolls: IV

It is alleged to be capable of such backwards compatibility.

Caduceus November 1st, 2005 12:55 PM

Re: OT: Elder Scrolls: IV

In one of the quirkiest moves yet, 360 should play XBox games, but the wording of this is nebulous at best when you check the news releases. The general opinion is that it will play most of their "blockbuster/platinum" games, but might not some of the others.

I would wait and see what problems folks are having after the release in 3 weeks.

EDIT If you haven't played it yet, get GOTY edition of Elder Scrolls 3 with the 2 add-on packs (might not want to install them until you have a good idea of how things work). That's 20 bucks well spent for gameplay.

I concur about the daedera and that ES4 will be worth about $1000 bucks in upgrades, but have youever played Disgaea, Hour of Darkness? You are the Overloard Prince of the Underworld, a dark land full of deamons and monsters, you get to controll them all. You're enemies are the angels(not all of them, just a few evil angels) and other Overlords. Very good strategy role playing game for PS2, funny as hell.

Check out the screenshots.
My comp barely meets the cpu and memory requirements. It probably doesn't meet the graphics requirements.

And this keeps me playing TES III for several more months (or years?). There are hundreds of mods at my to-play list and I have not even started the main quest or the addons during the last years. TES rules !

Anyone with the ES-Avatar "PirateLord" watching this thread?

About the Xbox 360, from what I've read, no it does NOT support all Xbox games at the time of release. However, as long as you have the internet or even a friend with the internet and a CD burner, you can install updates to the xbox 360 that will make it compatible with more xbox games. Did I mention you get free basic Xbox Live service? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: OT: Elder Scrolls: IV

Personally, I stay away from 'Bleeding Edge' games that have uber sys requirements. Speed is not the end all of criteria for me. I can't afford to buy a new computer every year (or every 6 months) just to be in the 'Top 5%' of PC users.

The good thing, is that by the time I have a system that can run the game, the game will be in the bargain bin http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif lol, it's a win-win situation.

which reminds me, I should go back and read through my year 2000-2001 PC Gammer magazines to see what would be good on my current system.

Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I have some of those lying around, lemme know if you want them http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I tend to upgrade my PC every year now, but that's mainly because I havent got much expenses, and every year my summer job nets me $2K which is enough to buy an almost top-end PC.
