Looking for campaign testers
I dusted off my old UN Campaign (SPMBT version) and reworked it extensively for WinSPMBT.
Now I need some testers to try it out and let me know if it works. Basic info: Fixed Core UN Peacekeeper Company Opponent: Somalia, 1999 6 missions, with possible alternates Missions are small to medium, approximately company-sized on each side. Anyone interested in testing it for me, email or PM me with your address and I'll send you the file (1 MEG in size). |

Re: Looking for campaign testers
There isn't anyway to install the campaign in a different slot is there? I tried renaming the files, but that seemed to screw it up. (I had just installed the new CC campaign, which also uses slot 4.

Re: Looking for campaign testers
Yeah, I rename all the files (at least I'm pretty sure I did.) I played the first two scenarios (the stub first one, and the attack on the airport.) I saved the game after the second one, and when I went to reload it, it took me to one of the Carribean Crisis scenarios, but with my UN core.

Re: Looking for campaign testers
Hmm...sounds like you might have missed one. Or gotten two mixed up.
There may be a code issue as well...I wonder if the master campaign data file recognizes the renaming, or does it still try to locate the old file name? I may have to reset the campaign to an unused slot. |
Re: Looking for campaign testers
I was wondering the same thing. I'll send you the files I used, so you can check it out. What was weird is that it played the first two battles fine, it was the transition to the 3rd one where I saw the date 1962 and realized that something was amiss. The Cuban flags on the map were the next clue *grin*

Re: Looking for campaign testers
Ok, Nick.
BTW, I got an Anti-Virus message concerning an email you sent to me. It said there was an infected file attached and that the message had been deleted. The AV software the Depot uses on its email accounts (spwaw.com) is pretty agressive on attachments; make sure the files are ZIPped or achived in some fashion (I use WinRAR myself). |
Re: Looking for campaign testers
Flash,
Same thing happened to me. I went through every file and renamed them to camp 44 BEFORE moving them to the campaign folder. If I have time, I will go back in and re-arrange again. Trip |
Re: Looking for campaign testers
I tought a campaign cannot be renamed to use a different slot. The whole campaign should be redone in the ingame campaign editor. I tried to rename some campaigns back in the DOS version and they did not work anymore.

Nox
Do you know this for certain? I am used to dealing with the SPWAW game, where you can rename the campaign files and it all works fine. If it doesn't in WinSPMBT, then I'll have to go "move" everything to another slot. And if that's the case, is there any way of knowing which slots aren't/haven't been used by other campaigns out there? I'd hate to move this and have it still conflict with some other campaign... |
Re: Looking for campaign testers
Hmmm... I just tested it again and the renaming seems to work. I wonder why it didn't work when i did it on the DOS version. Maybe I just renamed some files wrong or it has been fixed for the Win version.

Re: Looking for campaign testers
Ok...so it works, then?
As for the game lockups, I'm not sure why those are happening. I'll have to investigate some more... |
Re: Looking for campaign testers
Yep it works. Sorry for the confusion.
Game lockups huh? Have you read the post: PBEM Battles whit custom maps problem in the main forum? |
Re: Looking for campaign testers
Yep, I just did. Doesn't seem to be the cause here, since none of my maps have shellholes on them. All the scenarios work on my XP-box as stand-alones; I'm going to re-check them as saved games, in case there is something in that part of the routine that's causing the problem.

Re: Looking for campaign testers
OK...I think I know the reason for the problems.
Although you can renumber the campaign files and play it, you can't save any of the games; something in the Save routinue directs the Load part to the original campaign number whenever you try to re-load a saved game. So, unless you intend to play the campaign all the way through in one sitting, you can't just renumber the files. So, I have reinstalled the files to the Campaign Slot #5, which I hope is not being used by any other campaign. Nick and Trip1509, I'll email you the updated ZIP file tonight. Delete any Campaign 5 files you have and install the new ones. |
