Any One Like Soda Pop

If you like soda pop then you might want to check out this site. Galco Soda

I saw them featured on a history channel show and voila, they have a web site. They have many differant bottlers from around the world.

No Coke Cola here guys, but some nice alternatives.

Had some new pop show up here last year - Put cream in it. Very good.

But, people don't like new things, and they went under.

Isn't every alternative to Coke/Pepsi a nice alternative though, due to them being so wretched? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Any One Like Soda Pop

Coke is ok, but since they switched to A) corn syrup, and B) plastic bottles, it has gone from great product to crap.

I prefer pepsi. Always have. But still the same thing can be said about Pepsi. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Pepsi made with real sugar, in glass bottles was the best.

I think Coke is the best beverage ever invented. Pepsi can not compare http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif But I too like the glass bottles much better. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

If they provided glass bottles today, some loser would hit themselves in the teeth while trying to take a drink and sue. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

It's been a while since I saw pop in glass bottles... My favorite pop is the orange flavor one. By the way, I usually call it pop, rather than soda. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Actually..

[beg] Please forgive the double post, oh-those-who-hate-padding [/beg]

...I keep a 12-pack of Pepsi emptied into the crisper at the bottom of the fridge at all times. But when I'm mixing (rum, Jack, etc.) I always buy Coke. Funny, that.

Wolfman77 December 28th, 2005 10:56 AM

Re: Any One Like Soda Pop

I d othe same thing. I drink pepsi mostly (or used to), but whenever I had Jack Daniels it was always with coke. Pepsi was never sweet enough for Jack. Rum however I always thought was too sweet mixed with coke, so that I mixed with pepsi. Now I drink Dr. Pepper, tastes to me kinda like cherry coke.

Re: Any One Like Soda Pop

The differences in recipes from one country to the other are quite interesting. I drink pepsi like there is no tomorrow (It's my coffee) And use Coke and RC as emergency standbye's when I can't get the Pepsi. When I took my Honeymoon in Australia I noticed the Pepsi was quite wretched and the Coke tasted the same but had a slight perfume smell to it and gave me a headache. I was in Tahiti in '83 and drank Coke that was made in Amsterdam! It was quite delicious. Now I chase Jaegermeister with Pepsi!
As a family we frequently traffic cases of Ting back from the Carribean.

Re: Any One Like Soda Pop

Ya, it is bizarre how sodas are brewed differently in different places and at different times. I guess the mark-up on sugar water is so profitable that soda megacorps find it profitable to hire scientists to constantly analyze flavor preferences and adjust.

So what's this about emptying a 12-pack of Pepsi into the crisper and leaving it there?

Re: Any One Like Soda Pop

Well the old story about Guiness being better in Ireland is by all accounts true. Of my friends who drink the dark stuff and have been to Dublin, Cork, etc, all have agreed it is a very different drink.

Of course how much is the mental idea 'It's better here so it must taste nicer' and how much is down to water/the wretched state of the factory is a different question.

Yeah, OK, it does sound funny if you say it that way... lol.
No, I'm just saying the cardboard 12-pack of cans gets dumped into the drawer and stock is held at a consistant level. Life without the occasional can of pepsi on-demand is no life at all.

I never noticed that. I bet Shrapnel didn't either. Mention it to them and they will probably fix it.

But the real question for this thread is: Who calls carbonated beverages soda? I personally call it pop, not soda.

I refer to carbonated sugar-water as soda. Noone around here (southern California) that I know says pop.

This map shows usage in the USA by county.

I grew up in a soda area and now live in a pop area.

Yes Narf, we know. But you have to spell it "sheild" for it to work in the tags.

I grew up in Wisconsin, with the exception of 4 years in Minnesota. MN was hardcore "pop", but I found that "pop" and "soda" were used almost equally in WI. The "pop-sayers" were mostly in the rural areas it seemed, or the people raised there, whilst we city-dwellers mostly used the term "soda."

And let us not forget the freaks in TX (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif) who call anything fizzy a "coke." Silly monkeys.

Now that is an interesting map. Someone has way too much time on their hands.
I am in the 50-80% pop area in Indiana (White county).

It is just FREAKISH how exactly right that map is! And then if you click on Wisconsin, it lists it by county. I grew up in Kenosha County: almost 50/50 - pop/soda...

Freakish, and entirely amusing.

I like diet sodas, not just for the lack of calorie, but they just taste better. Regular ones always leave an offputting aftertaste, like acid or bile, Diet coke, diet pepsi, and diet big red are my favorites. And caffine free sodas(that were supposed to have caffine, except diet caff free big red) all taste like piss, I dun no why...
