I know this has been asked before, but...
I am plagued with the "slow ship animation" problem. I believe that when this has come up in the past, it was attributed to a Windohs XP issue. 2 computers ago (Windows 98 system) I had fast animation, but on my previous and current computer I have this problem with XP. Has anyone figured out how to speed up ship animation?

Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
It was also attributed to winmodems as I recall.

Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
Weird. I don't have a winmodem.

Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
I don't know what to think of it. I'm running SEIV version 1.49 on Windoze 98. Sometimes the animation works fine. Other times it's slow. I suppose it could be some kind of memory issue, but I just can't say. Whatever it is, the problem seems to cross platforms.

Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
It's my recollection that the "comes and goes" animation slowdown in SE4 was caused by me running Window's Media Player beore playing SE4, a reboot always cured the problem.
Its been a long, long, looooong time since I've used Windows Media Player, so I just don't know anymore. But other programs may leave some sort of memory crumbs that interferes with the way SE4 wants to handle the animation. Slick, does a system reboot not make the problem go away? |

No kidding? You wouldn't toy with me would you, Ed? I know that for a long time that upgrade wasn't possible, and I was just about to make a post bemoaning the loss of version 1.49 players, because I can't seem to get a game any more.
Where can I find that upgrade to version 1.94? |
Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
Patch from Malfador
Malfador site Thought it copied the location, go through SEIV, downloads or you can get it from Strategy First. |
Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
I had the slow video intermittent problem on W98, and it was alway a RAM problem, and a reboot always fixed it.
Yes, the patch works for you too, and can be found here. Go to the SE:IV section, then downloads. It the second patch on the page; the first patch being for those who already have up-to-date Gold. Have fun! T |
Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
Argghh... too slow.
Sorry, T |
Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
Malfador... I should have known.
Thanks guys. I've got it. Now I just have to back up that TDM Modpack folder, and I think I'm all set. |
Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
You'll need to delete that TDM folder and download the latest version, actually. No 1.49 mods will work in Gold or Deluxe.
|
Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
Well, it's probably way too late, but you can always make a second install folder.
|
Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
Actually, it's not too late to make another install folder, but I won't sidetrack this thread any further with my version 1.49 woes, rendering this as yet another example of what I'll call "defacto post padding."
For the actual woes, see "1.49 Woes" in the main SEIV forum. (You know I have to spill it somewhere.) |
Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
Eh? What? This *is* the main SE4 forum.
|
Re: I know this has been asked before, but...
Yeah, I know, but somehow every way I tried put it seemed ambiguous. I merely meant that I was making a new thread. There, ambiguity removed.
