Council of Wyrms - Temples Poll

The Archvanadrott and Prophet Vlesthrot is conducting a poll on the conduct of Monks, Priests, and Temples. Please answer the following question and remark if you wish. Please only answer if you are a member of the Council of Wyrms game.

Re: Council of Wyrms - Temples Poll

I have lost to many games where my army was sufficient but my dominion was not. I spam temples like mad, especially in peace times.

Every wyrm has the right to raise temples on their own lands.

I'm with WfBS - what you build in your own territory is your own business.

Unless the Council passes a proposition, of course.

If you don't like some particular temples, you could always try to get a vote allowing you to destroy them yourself.

personally i think building them on borders ect should be allowed, but i think only next to your safe territorys during a war or such

although you are entitled to your opinion, shovah, due to the fact that you are not in the CoW game and don't accurately grasp the political atmosphere, nation borders, or ramifications of the subject of the poll - your opinion cannot be taken to heart.

you didn't actually vote on the poll did you?

Re: Council of Wyrms - Temples Poll

It can be an act of aggression (if I am building temples with the aim of wiping you out by means of dominion, which of course requires the addition of a lot of preaching or blood sacrificing or sceptic-swinging). Otherwise, it doesn't even have to be remotely close to unfriendly (as, for example, some temples that Morkilus and I both know about). People want their own lands to have their own dominions (when those dominions are good) and there's nothing aggressive about building the temples needed to accomplish this. It can require others to build temples in response, unless they don't mind having a weak or negative dominion in some of their provinces (which in some cases, e.g. bad scales, is actually nice).

In short, temples by themselves are not aggressive, not disrespectful, not even inconsiderate, unless there are other factors involved (a serious dominion-push, spells cast by the dominion-holder that hurt others in that dominion, etc.) In the absence of these factors, temples are nothing but expected.

I would say this even if I hadn't spent the design points on a Dominion of 8 and picked a nation with cheap temples amongst their strongest assets. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I wouldn't get too worried about non-cattle folk jumping in here. I view this forum as a place to discuss things "out of character" anyway. The only place where a discussion would be binding would be "in character" in a Council vote (and I might well vote differently from any opinion I express here, for purely selfish, in-game reasons).

I think Morkilus was intending this to be in character, and just figured that it was easier to use the forum then try to make one on the wiki.

No problem shovah, this is mainly just trash-talk, and just hoped to get more people talking than we currently do for anything on the Wiki. I don't mind outsider comments and this should in no way be interpreted as "official". If I wanted an official vote, I would make a proposition!

personally, it surely sounds like an affront to the wyrm's dignity - he should be allowed to personally raze any such vulnerable temples http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

So, does this mean you'll also support my keeping the castle that Pangaea's built on top of it? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif

Er, never mind, you're not in the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif

Re: Council of Wyrms - Temples Poll

As far as temples built on outlying lands without a fort, I would say that this is definitely a prime candidate for obtaining a Coucil vote to raze. Certainly, most wyrms would support a proposition to raze a temple on someone's doorstep. Especially if it comes with a bribe. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

It is certainly a very aggressive move to build temples near another wyrm's capitol, but well within the rules of the game.
