Titan\'s Task - running 24hr qh

Fed up with thier constant bickering the Pancreator has ejected all the Titans from the heavens and placed before them a task. To redeem themselves, and be proven worthy in the eyes of thier lord, they must defeat three of thier brethren in the mortal realm. Upon completion of this task, the victorious Titan will ascend to heaven and rule forever at the right hand of the Pancreator. May the greatest Titan win!

do cyclops count?

wait, they're only size 5... guess not

what about the shedu and the allfather? They are the right size, but lack the bipedal part?

Re: Titan\'s Task - open

Umm - "defeating 3" - that seems a little ambiguous. Killing 3 pretenders? Or destroying three nations? Or strictly a VP win (which 6 VPs doesn't seem to match defeating 3 - defeating 2, if capitols are 2 VPs each, or defeating 5, if VPs are 1).

Sounds kinda fun, but I'd like a little more clarity on the winning. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

The statement is ambiguous but I thought the victory condition would clarify it. My thought was that there would be 20 VPs: 10 capitals and 10 in the field. The assumption was then that each player gets a VP at thier cap and would grab 1 in the field and fortify it, meaning that in order to win you would have to defeat 3 other players to get enough VPs to win.

Actually, my numbers are wrong, it should be 8VPs (2 of your own and then 6 "enemy" VPs). But thats a bit on the high side. Lets just set the victory condition at 7VPs and leave it at that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Oh - I do want in. Bipedal mobile Size 6 humanoids - does that include shapeshifting pretenders with one form that matches those requirements? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Edit : Youch! Titans only, that really narrows things down for some nations, sheesh!

Re: Titan\'s Task - open

I really like games that have reasonable victory conditions - I'll tentatively put my finger on Ermor.

There are 3 borderline titan cases - the earth mother, who is mostly humanoid though a bit out of the titan mold, especially in respect to abilities, the natarajah, who is pretty well titanish but is just a special case, and the void lord, who has pretty well spot on titan stats but who's pictur indicates he may be tripedal... though, i guess to actually confirm that you'ld have to see whether he can accumulate two limps before going crippled ;p

personally, i think all are close enough and should be considered as legit possibilities. the earth mother is the most outside the mold i guess.

oh, and inland can handle rlyeh, though atlantis would be pretty sucky.

Wish February 11th, 2006 01:42 PM

Re: Titan\'s Task - open

I think the shedu should qualify, mostly because he is cool. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif anyway great mother is a bipedal size 6. My question: does sacred statue count. or baphomet. Both are size 6, and the statue is carved to look like a biped. Baphomet floats, but hes size 6 as well.

archaeolept February 11th, 2006 01:47 PM

Re: Titan\'s Task - open

wish, the statue is not mobile. the baphomet is not mobile. they are nothing like titans http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Titan\'s Task - open

I do think that the All-Father should be allowed - he's bipedal - he's just riding a friggin' horse! But I'm neither playing Vanheim nor running this game, and I guess part of the fun here is using some pretenders that don't get a lot of play normally.

Cainehill February 11th, 2006 02:33 PM

Re: Titan\'s Task - open

Shedu ain't bipedal, sacred statue & Baphomet aren't mobile. Earth Momma I think you _need_ to have, otherwise Vanheim is stuck with two identical pretender choices - oh, air 2 or air 3!

Important Update

Truper, along with the Artifacts game, has convinced me that when a game moves beyond a 24hr qh timeframe I rapidly lose interest regardless of my position. To avoid that happening here, this game will run strictly 24hr qh from start to finish. I believe that the victory conditions are still achievable under this new time restriction, but if people dont feel they can play thier end-game effectively under this time limit I will completely understand.

Edit: of course exceptions will still be made for people who need to go away for a weekend and the like. but when the game is running under time it will always be 24hr qh.

Ironhawk February 11th, 2006 08:44 PM

Game Full

Ok, we have a full 10 players. Arch & Peace I put you guys on the waitlist in case anyone else withdraws due to my new condition.

And with regard to the various questions about what pretenders are valid. First off, only size 6 pretenders are valid - you cannot take a Cyclops or any of the smaller pretenders who have wings and are thus size 5. As for the Great Mother: I almost ruled her out since she has regen and I fear that people will all just flock to her as an SC chasis. But as arch pointed out to not allow her would restrict some nations too severely in terms of pretender choices. Lastly, yes the Nata and Void Lord qualify for this game.

Re: Game Full

meh - Inland's huge - it can easily handle more than 10 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Ironhawk February 12th, 2006 08:25 PM

Re: Game Full

Its only 150 provs. The 10 player limit was in order to give each nation a little breathing room before the first set of wars. Make it so that the first battle was not also the last.

Re: Game Full

i should probably step down for this game, actually. i just realized that i'm going away for 10 days, and already have 3 games on the go. i will be finding a replacement for those games while i'm gone, but it doesn't make sense to start a new game.

so arch or pk get the spot, i guess. whoever signed up first.

Only saw this today. I'm sorry but I'll have to step down from this one. While the time limit is ok for the start game, for the mid and end game it is much to tight for me.

yah - i think ironhawk might not understand how things get - now, w/ this game, as it has reasonable victory conditions, its doable - though that's not the same as reasonable http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

oh, yah ironhawk i was wrong about the size of the map - I remembered it as being larger (likely perspectival from having to siege a million of boron's forts one game). 10 is definitely cozy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

oh sorry - thought we were starting tuesday evening - i'll upload when i get back from work - are we using an updated "fixed vine ogres" mod and have vp been set?

edit: seriously, if there's a beta 5.3 close to being out I would love to use that... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Happy Titaning!

I would like to point out that monoliths, being monopedal, somewhat humanoid (re.: the expression "stone-faced"), and pretty naturally teleporters, are fairly close to the definition of a titan... I mean, the Shedu, that's just silly, but the monolith otoh...

sure - the simplest solution is just to increase the price of the summon vine ogres to 2 gems - dunno if the same should be done for vine men or not...
