SEIV Needs Your Help!

I was reading the reviews posted at www.gamespot.com regarding space Empires IV Gold/Deluxe, and one of the reviews was just flat out wrong. Most were spot on but this one just irked me.

This is probably because the people who wrote it have little depth themselves. You will typically find little people waiting for you as you get to a system. They ambush you and then you have to start again. These people gain in the ranking and it is so totally ridiculous that you wonder why you took on the challenge in the first place. The planet and resource development part is not inspiring, which is one of the major holes in the game.

Now this guy is obviously just being a jerk. So if you want, and I would hope that you do, go to GameSpot and post a proper review. Four of the five reviews are very favorable. Its just this one that needs to be firmly and completely decimated by over glowing, positive, and favorable revies. So come join the fun and help stop idiots from bad mouthing our game!

Sounds like he mistook SEIV for some Starfury-like MMORPG.

I think it's because of people searching for atrocities on the net, looking for something to rant about on fourms/IRC chat/blah blah blah.

Well, that sucks. I registered on GameSpot but it won't let me post a review unless I pay for the upgraded membership.

Bahh!

I guess I'll just have to settle for hunting down and beating that reviewer with a large stick while dressed in a Phong suit.

What? Thats odd, I am not a paying member. I think the review once sent me a message saying he had made a mistake with the game... thought it was moo3 or something. I will have to go through my old emails to be sure though.

He could have still edited his comments if that were the case.

As I understand it, you need to either pay or have a certain amount of history with them by whatever measure they use before you can write reviews.

I joined them in 1999 when GameCenter became part of Gamespot. But they keep resetting their member info so in 2002 I lost all of my credit... PMOTKE. (Pissed Me Off To Know End.)

Can't we report his post as abusive? It's obvious that he has never played the game and just wants to be a jerk like Atrocities already rightly said.

I agree with Memphisto, the review shows,
1. he's never played the game
2. he got his butt kicked on a frequent basis and is p..... off
3. he's an infantile jerk who doens't know the lst thing about a good space wargame
4. he's only 6 or 7 yrs old
5. he's a competitor for another game

That would make sense if older threads are inflated, but not so much for brand new threads. It takes weeks for sites to be indexed in search engines, and they are particularly bad at properly indexing forum posts (often not even bothering to try).

Just write good reviews of the game. Honesty is the best policy. That guy was not honest, as we all know that 1 lie can erase 100 truths.
