Well, UFA/TCO Ship yards is no more

Looks like Anglefire deleted my account for some unknown reason. They state that it violated some policy, yet I can not find out what policy it violated. In an email to me, it was stated that someone complained that I was offering their "property" for download without their permission. UM, that is news to me. Well, if that person was from here, thanks for ruining my site for no reason.

I don't know why. It really ticks me off after all that work, and its all gone. Man I am so angry at Anglefire for this crap that I am now RECOMMENDING THAT NO ONE EVER USE THEM. This is complete crap. All those records are gone, everything is history. Thank god I have back ups of the Race files, but I mean this is utter BS. I had nearly 3500 visits since going on line in early Dec. It was a very popular site, and now its gone. Go figure!

I'm sorry to hear that your site was deleted - stupid angelfire.

But this may be a blessing in disguise. You can revamp your site and move it to tripod (I still haven't had any problems).

I hope to see you shipyards up and running again!

Thanks. I am checking them out as I type this. Man I am so up set at them. Once I get another reply from them, I'll post what they say here so you all can have a good laugh. Just goes to show you, you can't help those who don't want help. 3000+ hits in 5 months. Someone really screwed the pooch on this deal.

its a sad state of afairs when they will do something like that without investigating or giving you the opportunity to resolve the problem.

Bah ! Forget about those free services .. I have heard about dozends accounts terminated for .. ah, well, without real reason.

Sometimes some A*** claims you have stolen his property, and they shut down your site without further notice, sometimes they shut it down because it generates more traffic than a 'free site' should ... sometimes their hardware crashes and they 'accidently' can't backup some site hosted for free.

I would recommend that you spend some $2..5 a month and get yourself a 'real site' with own domain etc.

It helps, really - they won't kill such a site without good reason because they would have some lawyers going after them if they do http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

A.

PS: Last case I heard of was a 'Steel Panthers World@War' fansite on Trypod, so maybe you should want to stay away from them, too.

Atrocities, I am really sorry to hear that. I like your races very much and hope you will continue to post them at least here in the mod section.

That really #@!$*#$ sucks! I really enjoyed your site - I found your content very useful for finding what I was looking for because of its scope of content. Removing it is a loss to all of use. They at least could of informed you of the compliant and given you an oppertunity to correct it, then the community wouldn't have lost all of you contribution to it.

I am truly sorry to hear this, I liked your site a lot. Perhaps send an e-mail to Richard, I know he mentioned awhile back that he was interesting in hosting a fan site but need someone to run it (or something like that - I am still a little fuzzy b/c I have not had my morning mountain dew yet).

Thank you all for the support. Thank you Sirkit, but your generous offer may not be needed as I am now looking into getting hosted at a pay site. I have other interest, and can incorperate them together.

Again, thanks for your kind words of support all. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

I got another response today. Just thought I would share it with you. Does not really say much, but still:

(My Response)

Thank you for your response.

I had established a web page system originally at: http://www.angelfire.com/zine/cnchome/Shipsets.html The site was dedicated to a game called Space Empires and the site contained valuable downloads for that game. Many of these downloads were one of a kind and original. The site was fully supported for this endeavor, and to the best of my knowledge, did not violate any known policies of Anglefire. The removal of my site came as a complete shock, and one that I can not fathom. The content was only geared toward Space Empires (www.malfador.com) and was widely known by not only the fans, but the publisher of the game as well. (www.shrapnelgames.com) The site generated a substantial amount of hit since its inception, and was as I said, very popular among the SEIV community. Here are a few quotes from people that I have told about the site being shut down. (not to mention the tons of emails I have gotten asking me what has happened.)

"Sorry to hear that Atrocities. I d/l'd a number of the racestyles you offered.."

As you can see, the site was very popular and well respected. To loose it without warning was painful and came as a complete shock. I know that these things happen, but I never suspected that it would happen to my site. Any information you can provide me regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated. Again, thank you for your time.

William
