Dude, this is no Aprils fools joke. He is leaving. In fact his web site at Spaceempire.net has already been sold to another company.

I guess it was bound to happen given his comments about Space Empires V last week on IRC.

Oh, you might wish to bring your heavy weaponry. The hippy camp is probably my university, but it has been locked up for the past four weeks, so you might need to... you know, use deadly force. It'll all be fine after that, though.
