No SE5 news ?
 

I'm rather amazed that for this game, awaited since 2 yeras and now announced for June I can fiond absolutely no news since end of 2006, except some Capt Kwok's kind but vague answers to posts on the SFI forum.
The game isn't even present in SFI "soon to be released" page, and Malfador site wasn't updated since 3 months except for a SE4Deluxe patch !
And the SFI SE4/5 forum is even less active than this one...

Well, let's wait...

Doh, I've a problem with dates !

A fair number of the folks around here are on the beta-testing squad of robot pirate ninja cue-cappas. They can't really talk, due to the non-disclosure agreement, but it seems that a summer 2006 release is still probable.

My guess:
The next news we are likely to get is that the release has been delayed until early fall.

Then, it will be released just in time for the Christmas season.

If there was any competition in the 4x crowd, SE5 wouldn't stand a chance by the time its released. But there isn't, not really, so we wait for the release.

Its really just one guy writing the whole thing, so his time is better spent on the product then marketing it...

Perhaps not direct competition, but its a 4x game of sorts due to be released June 1st.

Yeah, I agree that the lack of news sux. This is my biggest beef with SEV. How about play tester notes. That would be cool.

Ya, I saw that. But there are too many things they left out that I want, like a lot more control over ships during combat and a whole lot more choice in weapons. They called their rock/paper/scissors - lasers/missles/guns. I want a bit more than that.

If SEV was not coming out, I'll look at Galciv. But SEV will come out, so I'll wait until then.

Aaron's focus is on game development, not marketing. You would have to take the lack of news up with him. I however can point you to gamespot for some information if your looking for some. They ran a preview of the game some time ago. As with most games, news is often released in small amounts stretched out over many months. Really the info we have gotton is on parr with the industry standard for such things.
