OT: Duh, duh, duh, duh dada....\"Caprica\"

Hopefully the header sounds like the intro to Dallas http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Anyway as reported on AICN there will soon be a prequel to BSG

Scripted Series

'CAPRICA'

From executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick ('Battlestar Galactica'), writer Remi Aubuchon ('24') and NBC Universal Television Studio, this new series is set over a half a century before the events that play out in 'Battlestar Galactica.' The people of the Twelve Colonies are at peace and living in a society not unlike our own, but where high-technology has changed the lives of virtually everyone for the better. But a startling breakthrough in robotics is about to occur, one that will bring to life the age-old dream of marrying artificial intelligence with a mechanical body to create the first living robot - a Cylon. Following the lives of two families, the Graystones and the Adamas (the family of William Adama, who will one day become the commander of the 'Battlestar Galactica') 'Caprica' weaves corporate intrigue, techno-action and sexual politics into television's first science fiction family saga.

At first I took it to be real and considering we are long past April 1 maybe it is, but I can't help but think it sounds too much like Dallas or Dynasty to be real. We'll have to wait to see who shot Adama, or if the entire Cylon attack was a dream.

Actually, they're going to do another Galactica series where they find Earth, but it's the 1980's

Now I can't remember exactly why the Cylons left before the start of BSG, but assuming it was because they revolted over being used as servants I can forsee the Adamas and Graystones lording it over their servants working the fields, while they sit back drinking whatever it is that the Southern Masters drunk.

I know who shot Adama! I just saw the Season 1 finale on DVD! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I don't mind a fake cliffhanger ending (as if EJO wasn't returning for season 2), but I can't believe they stooped that low. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif

Holey camoley!

I have the "tattoo" drums from the BSG opening in my mind...

The Cylons were created by Man.

They rebelled.

Actually, Hunpecked, for season one, only a handful of actors was under Contract. Most were signed as free-agents meaning if they didn't show up to work one day, well, the show would be just S.O.L. Olsmo's wasn't one under contract, but it was a safe bet he'd return. On the other hand, the actor playing Billy, wasn't under contract and he kept putting it off until the producers said "Hey, we know you're not interested in the show anymore so we're killing you off."

To me, this spinoff sounds like a Roots in Space.

I just saw the final episode last night. I never saw it coming http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif Was brilliant stuff. As for a spin-off, i'll reserve judgement until there's more details. I was pretty disappointed by Atlantis so...

Raging Deadstar: "I just saw the final episode last night. I never saw it coming."

Oh. Well, we already knew Boomer was a Cylon, she knew she was a Cylon, we saw her practicing her quick draw, and it was the last show of the season (mandatory "cliffhanger"). About the only suspense left was over who she would shoot (Roslin or Adama, and Roslin was already "dying"), and what would happen to Boomer afterward. BTW, if the Cylons had really wanted to do some damage, they would have thwarted Boomer's mission to destroy the base ship at Kobol.

Now the season 2 ending WAS a surprise for me. Not the cliffhanger aspect, of course, and not the you-know-what, but the rest of it.

Hunpecked, the basestar isn't as important as you think, wait until the mid-season finale for season two.

That's the episode where Michelle Forbes first shows up? I'm not sure how that one makes the base stars seem any less important, unless it's because they're acting as escorts for the you-know-what.

It just seems strange that the Cylons would give up a base ship so easily. If their objective was to keep the humans away from Kobol, a base ship + raiders certainly seems more effective than a lone assassin. If they wanted the humans to reach Kobol, then why put a base ship there and tip off the humans that they were on to the whole Earth thing? Note that a third base ship would have been very useful when the Colonials later attacked the you-know-what.
