Fire/Earth SC\'s
 
do you guys know any summonable units that make decent sc's from the path of fire? apart from fire knigs i cant think of any and could use som e, for eath theres the kings and troll kings but earth kings can be easily taken before you can and trolls+king have huge upkeep, can you guys think of any more?

thanks for the help and quick response but i dont really see the lions being used as SC's although i will give them a go again.

as far as SC's they would be the next best compared to the Fire Kings... if fire gems are all you have.
an earth spell can raise their protection... helps if the mage casting the spell is immune to fire.

troll kings update isn't that bad, especially in cb.

for earth you have lots of constructs: crusher, golem, gargoyle, etc. that you can GoR

fire you just have the 2 kings and banefire king.

banefire is being used http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif i dont really have the gems to GoR right now although i was considering it, i cant believe i completely forgot about golems though (but do they not cost astral? even if they do i have a big fire income) i dont think gargoyles would be worth a GoR but thanks for the tips.

If its late game and the fire kings are taken, the best summonables from fire are imo Fire Snakes. Cheap, with reasonable punch.

ive got kings, though all the nations im facing are rather firey (even caelum has fire...) so the usually great flamestrike is almost useless

pound for pound of gems I believe the Summer Lions do better in battle.... without the CB Mod.

shovah ... are you using the CB Mod in your game?

You can always give them a weapon http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Any weapon boosts defense over the flamestrike.

Use the fire gems for Flames from the Sky. Fire is not a strong conjuration path.

Earth, on the other hand, is excellent... Clockworks, Statues, and Mechanical Men are all good, while Crushers and Iron Dragons are sometimes worth Gift of Reason.

thx, my main problem is just getting some living, non unique SC's since uniques are quickly taken and undead have alot of counters. i have good income of: blood, fire and death. decent income of: earth and possibly nature/astral but im not sure. poor income of: possibly astral/nature. finally i have practically non-existant income of water.
the high cost of getting troll kings due to the troolls that come with them makes getting more than 1 quite hard and for other things im low on nature for GoR. Golems seem promising though as i have a mage or 2 perfect for making them and can alchemise anything to get them quite quickly.

If you have sufficient blood income, consider using the devil commander from the hordes from hell spell. It's expensive, but he has very good stats.

same problem as undead, devils count as demons iirc and alot of undead killers work on them too (such as a strong commander with a flambeau

I'm not sure how well a flambeau works on Devils. They are immune to fire, after all, and can have very high defense if equipped as an SC. Some of the best undead killers are Wither Bones, Dust to Dust, Banishment, Holy Pyre, Falling Fires, Solar Rays, and Maggots... Of these, I think only Banishment works on Devils (not sure about Solar Rays), but their high MR means no normal priest has much of a chance. With regeneration, at least a dozen priests would be needed to wear down a Devil, I think. And that's without the recommended Starshine Skullcap.

and theres always a nasty jotun/golem/archdevil (yes, unfortunately they are taken) with a herald lance and a ring of the warrior. but i'll try out the devil commander.

As far as SCs go you'd have to GoR earth....Crushers/Siege Golem/ID's.

Golems are always good...and if you have a decent Death income, you can get tartians.

i would go tartarian but no death mages that high without atleast 2-3 levels of empowerment. thinking of alchemizing anything i dont use for forgeing/army building into astral for more golems.
