OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
I'm a little bit curious about what other people's deepest, most heartfelt dreams and desires are. I know that I have a couple that will be with me always (until achieved), and are never too far from the forefront of my thoughts. I wonder if other's have such dreams that they would give almost anything to achieve, that would make them so incredibly happy if they did occur. Doesn't have to be realistic, one of mine sure isn't!
One of the things I yearn for the most is to travel space. I have ever since I can remember. It's a dream that I rarely go a day without thinking about at least once. I'd give almost anything to be able to travel into space, to see the wonder and the beauty of the universe with my own eyes, to travel to places no one else has ever seen...well you get the idea. But of course, that's an impossible dream with our current state of technology. But hey, I can dream, right? So, what are your deepest dreams and desires? |
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
discover/invent a 100% efficient energy source that is infinitely renewable and environmentally sound. this is really part of a larger vision that I have: mankind lessening the footprint we leave on the planet and its ecosystems, living in tandem with mother nature vice shutting ourselves off. I don't consider myself a tree hugger by any means. it just seems logical that the more of a nuisance to nature we make ourselves, the more problems we will have trying to outsmart it. shame i'm not really in a career path to help with any of that! ha!

Hey Renegade - That is still something you can chase today.
I'd like to be sane. |
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Mine are actually very simple - A stable, reliable job I enjoy doing, a home to call my own, and a STABLE, RELIABLE woman to share it with.....

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Well, I wanted to run a marathon.
I ran three this year - Disney (Florida), Myrtle Beach (SC) and Macon (GA). |
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
1. To be able to have any women I wanted without all the bagage and bull [censored] that normally comes with them.
2. To be able to eat anything I wanted, as much as wanted, and never get fat. 3. To never have to worry about money again because I would have so much of it that it becomes meaningless to me. 4. To be above the law like all of those yuppies sob's that live here in my state now who moved here from CA. Seriously though, 1. My deepest desire would be simply to be happy, content, at peace, comfortable, loved, and secure in both peace of mind as well as financially. To accept the deaths of my loved ones without life ending greif and despair. To be able to aford whatever I needed, wanted, or desired without ever having to worry about where the money would come from. To be healthy and to not ever get sick again say until the day I die. To never again be crippled by depression, anxiety, or fear. To meet a nice women, one who loves me for all my problems, one that I can trust, and to spend the rest of my life with her. Stupid I know, but hey, if it can happen for some, then why not me? |
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Caduceus - Congrats on achieving your dream!
AT - That's not stupid. That's pretty near ideal. |

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Well, I desire many of the usual things that people want: to be happily married to a beautiful, intelligent, loving wife; to be healthy and fit; to be financially free; to have many kids, to somehow contribute to the world to make things a little better than before. I also want to be great at playing the piano - I want to be able to just sit down at a piano and effortlessly play any music I have in my mind. I want to travel around to many different places and see the world.
But then there's the deeper desires that I've had since I was a little kid. One of them is to be a great martial artist. And the deepest desire I have, I hardly talk about because people think I'm weird and unrealistic: I want telekinetic powers. My dream is to look at a spoon and bend it just with my mind, and move objects around. Sad to say, but at this time I am far, far, from attaining any of these dreams and desires. Considering that I am doing little or nothing to make them happen, it's not surprising that I'm not getting any closer to having them happen. As for my deepest desire, my dream of telekinesis, as time goes by I'm having more and more doubts whether it's even possible. |

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Here is the strangest dream/fantasy.. to have a circle of 52 friends and family that I can visit once a year and spend a full week with. Why? No more worries about a job, rent or ever getting boared again. It's not an unrealistic dream, just highly unlikely and I'm not sure I'd want the nickname 'Kato' LOL.
Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Mine's pretty similar to everyone elses.
A job I enjoy that pays enough to live comfortably and allows me to continue doing charity work and Someone to spend my life with. I guess for a deeper desire or dream I'd love to be able to change the world for better in some way. |
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
I would like some focus myself.

I'd like to be God. That'd be good fun I think. People give you credit for all the good things, and you get to blame all the bad things on someone else. Ideal job, no?
Of course, I'd be a bit more proactive in the whole God thing. A few smitings here & there, throw in a few miracles, and every now & then show up on an evangelical TV show and berate them for getting it completely wrong. And I'd make AT my archangel, coz no one would mess with a god whose right hand man is named Atrocities. |

I'm not saying what my wildest dream is, but I will say that it involves Adriana Lima, a bed, and half a dozen common household items. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif
Seriously? Family, home, career, in that order. I've been lucky enough to get all three, so everything else is gravy. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif |

I've never heard of Adriana Lima, so I checked Google Images. WOW! She is absolutely beautiful!

Wow, she sure is. If ever there were a real-life candidate for Micheal Turner's Aspen Matthews she would be "IT".

I'd wish I FINALLY got a girlfriend.
I wish for world peace. (Unlikely, I know, but one can always wish.) I wish that I'll get through university, preferably with a master's degree http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Quote:

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
I think for me to be really happy, someone would have to drop lots and lots of troops onto the earth (even if they had no weapons or armour). A few thousand KT of (friendly) warships in orbit would be nice, and plenty of combat victories in the sol system. An urban pacification centre somewhere in-system would be the icing on the cake. Then I'd be jubilant, all the time!

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
I've got 3:
1- build a castle. That's been in the works for the last 2 years. Land is lined up and some income sponsors are already on board. 2- travel into space. The moon would be ideal but even into zero-g orbit would do the trick. 3- seeing how my kids are going to grow up and give them the best possible life I can. Not to spoil them, but to enjoy life with them. |
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
10 million dollers. It would be my answer to anything and everything... oh how happy I would (hopefully will?) be!
|
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Oh, yes. I imagine you would be. You'd have all these newfound friends and relatives who would be so happy to celebrate your newfownd wealth with you.
|
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
It might be hard to tell who your true friends are until you are in some kind of trouble. If you then lost the millions of dollars, how many of these new friends would disappear, and how many would continue to be friends?
|
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
10 million dollars is useless unless you work for it. People who win the lottery, for example, go broke soon after. People who work for the money know how to budget money well, and keep it.
|
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Ashton is totally right. even if you had more money than you could reasonably waste in your lifetime, you dont value it in the same way as if you had worked for it.
this isnt just true for money, but anything that you get without having to work for. I think its safe to say that most people on this board either have had teenagers, or can remember being one. Or, in Mac's case, Grand-Teenagers http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Just think of how they treat that first car their parents buy them, compared to the second one that they have to pay for themselves. Think of how they act in college if they are working a part time job and fishing for their own grants and scolarships and loans, vs how they act if mommy and daddy are footing the bill for them. Sure, theres exceptions. You might treasure a gift someone gives you more than you would something you got for yourself, due to sentimental value. but in general, freebies dont get the same reverance that is due something that you had to bleed for. and if you think about it; things like rights, ideas, and values work the same way. |
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
10 million dollars would be fantastic. You would never have to work again: even if you know nothing about investing and just put it all in the bank at 3% interest, you would get $25,000 per month without depleting the principal. Of course, you'll have to pay taxes on the interest and there's inflation as well, so let's say you only spend $10,000 per month. That's $10,000 per month, forever, every month, without having to work. That's pretty good! With the time freed up from not having to work, and the money, you could do a lot of fun and interesting things: travel, learn new skills, help the people you care about, do the things you always wanted to do but didn't have the time or money.
|
Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
i know people that make more than that in a month. some of them still live in debt, and none of them are effortlessly rich. they all work hard for the money, and spend it hard.
