Serpent Cult Pythium
I've been interested in theme for a long time, but for some reason I suck furiously with Pythium... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
So, I wonder if you're willing to share your thoughts regarding this theme? My biggest problem is pretender design...for reason or other it always feels like I'm running out of points with Pythium. |
Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
same here, im always tempted towards good scales (which are better with base pythium imo). something ive never tried (but might be fun) is making dual bless hydras. f9 n9 would give them berserk, uber regen, high attack and 9! flaming attacks. another one would be e/n9 w9 which would give reinvig+prot/berserk+regen and QUICKESS (with 9 base attacks that is brutal, too bad they only hit one square)

If we are talking about base game, you should probably just go with standard build GK, and then use it expand and help diversify your magic as soon as possible. |
Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
F9 makes serpent cataphracts well worth the cost, and almost makes hydras worth it. Of course, I always play with mods... with which I think both of those troops are cheaper. Id say your best bet long term is making a bunch of clams... And never forget the lamias. Always good. Lamia queens, too.

Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
Pythium is among the weakest? Hmmm, I didn't realize that.
For base, I tend to go with an SC that has e4+ the blessing helps communicants survive battles, and earth is a good thing for SCs anyways. Yeah, serpant cult is pretty tough... hydras just arn't very good, even with a good bless. |

Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
e9n9 is the best. maybe earth mother pretender. But serpent cult has weak magic, maybe the weakest. Altough this blessed hydras are the toughest recruited unit in the game and i like it.
|
Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
what about e9/n9 neifel jarls? they are tough. and yes it has poor magic and expensive units (and by making hydras good you limit your pretenders magic)
|
Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
Yeah I think niefels would have a chance to win.
Maybe knights or templars with their lances. White Centaurs maybe. If you count void summons.... they are tougher http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
but tough ones are hard to get (w9 vastness ftw!). my f9 n9 centaurs might be ok vrs hydras multiple (very high strength when berserk) flaming attacks, regen and poison resistance (and my heirophant thugs have 5 attacks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif)
|
Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
Its a little unfair to hydras because a n9 partially protects against their poison. They can't get a blessing to protect against fire, cold, or w9 lances http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
so, i could say giving the hydras f9 is unfair as it makes them better vrs my naturally higher def centaurs. N9 also gives +3 berserk (up to +6 for centaurs) and regen.
|
Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
You don't really even need crazy-high blesses for the white centaurs. Dropping battle afflictions let's them get up to 5 experience without becoming useless. 40 White Centaurs, all at full experience with n6b4 handles most things.

Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
yes, but f9 n9 is fun when your heirophants have gloves of the gladiator (4 attacks) horned helmet (5th attack) hoof (6th attack) and ring of regen (item+bless regen). they can self bless, are stealthy and get 6, high atk (and high strength when berserk) flaming attacks (one test game i had one with heroic strength which brought him to 42 strength http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif)

Re: Serpent Cult Pythium
Well they carve through even heavily armoured things (even without berserk) so i think their extra attacks are flaming.
