It might be a good idea to try it with a test dummy first.

20 miles? He wouldn't get 1 mile on that heap. The 'crossbow' as pictured isn't going to do a damn thing, he'd be better off going down to his local gliding centre and asking to use the launch catapult they have there. As for the "rockets", I very much doubt he could pack enough fuel on his microlite to make it up to the altitudes he's talking about.

The whole thing is ridiculously fake, either that or the guy's a complete nutjob who skipped a few decimal places when doing his calculations.

I think it's a hoax too.

It a joke, and not a good one actually.

I vote for hoax. After all, this is posted on a sci-fi site. I think the apparatus described might nearly as likely launch him into the ground.

Pic looks a bit photoshopped, eh?

I doubt that would fly 2 feet in the air. I wouldn't buy it even if they said that it will fly 20 feet instead of 20 miles. 20 miles is ridiculous.

Re: OT: What\'ya think of this guy ???

True, Daynarr, nothing flies twenty miles with a single push that small.

Well, the vehicle is a rocket with a "jet turbine with 1350 pounds of thrust", so presumably, after the initial thrust from the crossbow, the engine will take over and carry it the rest of the distance (if it actually works http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

But if you have a "rocket with 1350 pounds of thrust", do you really need a first push from an underpowered elastic band? Also, how much rocket fuel does that thing look capable of carrying? There's a reason space rockets are built the size of office blocks...
